Tetsuhiro Ueno, LAC – Advanced Health Center

This review is SOOOOO long over due! I moved to DC a few years ago and searched for an acupuncturist for about a year until I found Dr. Ueno! I knew he was the right doctor for me from the start! Before I even came in he spoke with me on the phone to give me background on his style of treatment! He treated me for migraines and under is care I rarely ever got one! He doesn’t just focus on your main problem he goes beyond that and looks at you as a whole and believes your body needs to be in balance! I was so sad when I had to move away! I don’t think ill ever find a doctor as good as he was!

Dr. Ueno is everything you could ask for in an acupuncturist. He is kind and extremely attentive. I came to see Ueno regarding a bout of depression. After 10 acupuncture treatments, my depression lifted and I was back to my joyful self. Dr. Ueno explains everything he does and constantly asks if you have any questions. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ueno to anyone in the DC area considering acupuncture as a treatment. He is the of one the best practitioners I’ve ever encountered

I love this man. Read the 5 star reviews… I agree! Dr. Ueno is patient, warm, friendly, kind, attentive and knows what he’s doing.
I had lower back and shoulder pain… had difficulty with movement like putting on my socks or taking off a t-​shirt. Much much better after a few sessions with Dr. U. I am a flexible, active person, and used to being physical… my back/​shoulder pain was so bad I could hardly move at times. It feels so great to be back to normal again. I love this man!

Do not bother to go to this guy. I called to make an appointment with Mr Ueno and the receptionist was very unprofessional. Second, The soonest he could see me was the last week of January. Third, they demanded a credit card number to make the appointment. Fourth, they do not accept medical insurance and require the patient to pay in advance and file your claim for reimbursement with your insurance company. I have three medical insurance programs that always cover all medical costs so there was and is no risk to the practice of not receiving payment.
I am a member of VIP MD and go to reputable medical practicioners who have never had such a commercial approach to provision of medical care.
Seems like all this practice is to focus on taking your credit card or cash.

Dr. Oueno has effectively treated my chronic sinusitis after many years of suffering.
He was able to do what my ENT, Immunologist and GP couldn’t – stop the cycle of infection. Even though acupuncture can’t directly cure an infection like antibiotics, the therapy and the herbal medicine he prescribed supported my body and brought me to good health. After years of recurring sinus infections, (and surgery, CT scans and antibiotic regimens), I feel cured. I have been infection-​free for over a year and that is truly amazing!

I had never has acupuncture before but decided to give it a try after having fertility issues including multiple miscarriages. A friend highly recommended Dr. Ueno and I decided to give him a try, despite the distance from my house to the office, wanting to make sure I went to a reputable place place. Dr. Ueno is extremely compassionate, professional, and dedicated to the work he does. I got pregnant within a few months and am now 5 months pregnant! It has been such a great experience working with Dr. Ueno and I would highly recommend his services to anyone, for fertility reasons or otherwise.

My experience with Dr. Ueno was excellent. He was professional, patient, and showed true compassion for my struggles over the past year with trying to get pregnant. He treated me with acupuncture beginning in February 2014 and I am now expecting in January 2015. I highly recommend him for any issues you may have. Thanks Dr. Ueno!

And also amazing throughout my pregnancy and postpartum recovery. I am sure I would have had far more pain, stress, nausea… Without him. After birth I developed serious hip pain. I couldn’t go see him right away and spent at least a week in agony. Seriously, I couldn’t walk. I saw him twice and it stopped.

I became a patient of Dr. Euno’s after my primary care physician moved to Advanced Health Center, where he practices. It turned out to be one twist of fate that I will always be grateful for!
I happened to be on the lookout for a good acupuncturist to help with nerve pain caused by a bad fall, so when I learned there was an acupuncturist in house, I inquired and quickly received a response from the doctor. Very soon after that I had my first consult and soon after that, Dr. Euno’s services became like a gift from heaven.
Specifically, when I first went to the Dr., I had been suffering from numbness in my feet and hands, and after one treatment this went away COMPLETELY. Hallelujah!
Reasons to appreciate Dr. Euno:
–He is warm, friendly and courteous
–I believe that he genuinely cares about the welfare of his patients
–He is knowledgeable, professional and very responsive to inquiries
–He actively uses email, which makes him very conveniently accessible
Heads-up:the treatments might be sort of an an investment, because they are $ 85 each, but I think (and hope :) that they will be worth your while.

I had several accupuncture treatments with Dr. Ueno and I can’t say enough good things about him and his work. He was very nice and explained everything about the practice, his diagnosis, and the treatment to me. Additionally I was very relaxed during treatments and enjoyed them very much. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a qualified acupuncturist in Arlington.

Dr. Ueno treated me with acupuncture and Chinese herbs for about six months, through a time when I was undergoing long-​term antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease. I believe the acupuncture and herbs played an important role in keeping my liver enzymes in the normal range despite that I was on 3 or 4 different antibiotics at a time. He makes sure none of the needles are causing pain and that you are totally comfortable. He also listens carefully and customizes each treatment to changes in your symptoms, so if you have multiple symptoms, or changes from one treatment to the next, the correct symptoms will be addressed. I would always leave my treatment feeling better and in less pain than when I came in. Dr. Ueno is very kind and caring, and willing to think outside «the box» to help patients. He also gave me advice for things to do at home with regard to dietary modifications, supplements, and exercises that have been helpful. A few times I had to bring my kids with me to appointments, and Dr. Ueno was not at all put-​out by this, but was very accommodating, understanding, and patient with them. I also appreciate that he is available via email in case you have questions or concerns between appointments. Everyone in this office is friendly and competent, and I never had to wait more than a minute in the waiting area. Highly recommend.

I started acupuncture with Dr. Ueno a few weeks ago and i couldn’t be happier. Dr. Ueno takes his time asking questions at each and every appointment. He’s professional but personable and caring at the same time. And I love the patient, friendly office staff!

Dr Ueno is amazing! I have really enjoyed coming to him for my incontinence issues and I am 100% better since starting treatment. I would recommend him to anyone with this, or any other, issue. I am going to try accupuncture first for all of my issues from now on.

My experience with Dr. Ueno was wonderful. After undergoing an early miscarriage and subsequent difficulty in getting pregnant, I decided to try acupuncture as an alternative to fertility medication. From the first visit, Dr. Ueno was extremely encouraging and supportive. He performed a thorough assessment of my health history and current condition to determine the best course of action. As I have never tried acupuncture before, he was happy to discuss any concerns or answer questions that I had relating to this alternative treatment or herbal supplements. As a result, the acupuncture treatments combined with herbal supplements significantly reduced the stress and anxiety that I was experiencing, as well as improved the blood circulation and elevated my overall level of energy. After two months of acupuncture treatment I got pregnant, but still continued with the sessions as a means of maintaining a healthy pregnancy. My son just turned one year, and I will definitely continue to see Dr. Ueno for acupuncture for overall health and as we plan for a second child.

I am writing this review to anyone who is suffering from ANXIETY, ANXIETY ATTACKS, OR PANIC DISORDERS and is searching for answers. I began suffering from anxiety and panic attacks 9 months ago. I am a twenty-​something year old, who was living a normal twenty-​something year old lifestyle. Life was good. Until one day, boom, it all changed. I would panic whenever I left the house and suffered anxiety until I could no longer function properly. I had no interest in life and suffered from feelings of unreality to the point I truly thought I was going crazy. Thoughts raced all day, making me feel locked in my own mind. I felt as if I was walking around in a dream while the world passed me by. This continued to happen day in and day out for what felt like eternity.
This was the start of months of being seen by one doctor after another, one specialist after another, these so called experts that spent 5 minutes NOT listening to what I was saying and couldn’t give a rats ass about me or my health. In fact, I never even got an explanation of what was wrong with me. Instead, I had an MRI of my brain, CT scan, spinal tap, ridiculous amounts of blood work, and prescription after prescription of xanax. No wonder there is a growing number of prescription drug addicts! I refused to rely on a magic pill with the chance of becoming dependent on them in the future. It reached the point where I thought I would never recover… Until I met Dr. Ueno.
After countless hours of searching online for answers, I learned of acupuncture. Skeptical, I made my first appointment with Dr. Ueno. He LISTENED, LISTENED, and LISTENED! Something no other doctor would do. He helped me understand what was going on with me and was very patient to answer all of my questions. Dr. Ueno saved my life. There’s no other way to put it. After my 3^rd or 4^th treatment, I began to notice a significant difference. If only I had known then what I know now, I could have saved myself all those months of suffering.

Since 2008 I have been dealing with sciatic pain. After countless MRI’s, physical therapy sessions, and what could almost be classified as an addiction to advil (I was taking 1000 mg daily and benadryl to sleep) — I decided to try acupuncture. I had started at another clinic in Arlington several months before — but wasn’t satisfied (I felt as though I was being treated for the pain instead of what was causing the pain). After some research on the internet — I made an appointment with Dr. Ueno at Advanced Health Center. During the first session, Dr. Ueno patiently listened to everything that was bothering me (sciatica was the driver, but I had also been dealing with a lot of stress which was making my insomnia and skin problems worse). I was given a full evaluation and Dr. Ueno described a treatment plan. Since my first few sessions, I have «bragged» to my friends and co-​workers about my acupuncture sessions. I can honestly say that I feel healthier than ever — both physically and mentally. Spring seemed to bring a flare of sciatic pain and since seeing Dr. Ueno, I got through the season with very, very minimal pain. I am also sleeping better and just feel «clearer.» I am at the end of my treatment, but will still continue on a monthly basis as a «treat» for my body. Dr. Ueno has a very gentle demeanor, is thorough, and efficient. While I would say that the herbs and acupuncture had a tremendous effect in bringing me back to health — the ability to describe my ailments (and how dealing with these health issues made me feel) was also critical. I started bringing my mom in for sessions and between us we both agree that having a caring practitioner (who listens to you) is a large part of making acupuncture a success.

Miraculous!
I have been long overdue is singing Dr Ueno’s praise! I went to him after years of back pain due to herniated discs and muscle tightness. The pain was so intense I was considering adjusting my lifestyle to stop running. I tried all other remedies– physical therapy, traditional orthopedic medicine, pilates, weekly massage, and tons of ibuprofen.
I finally resorted to acupuncture. I never thought I’d consider asking someone to stick pins in me, willingly. But with desperation comes all possibilities.
After the very first session I enjoyed the first relief from pain in years. It truly was amazing! The tension was visibly removed.
I cannot stress enough what an amazing difference acupuncture has made. And more amazing was my experience with Dr Ueno. He is a truly caring and compassionate healthcare provider. He listens compassionately and takes time to help you feel comfortable. He is extraordinarily skillful, respectful, and kind.

I never tried acupuncture before but started seeing Dr Ueno after suffering with numerous symptoms from adrenal fatigue (that took several more doctor visits and tests to identify weeks after I first started seeing Dr Ueno). Dr Ueno, unlike several other doctors, listened carefully to my symptoms and discovered that my liver was weak and needed strengthening. He patiently described acupuncture and answered all my questions before beginning treatment. He worked with me to improve my ability to fall and stay asleep, corrected my ridiculous rage over small things, improved my neck and shoulder pain and muscle tightness and for the first time in my life my cycle is regular and less painful! I saw him twice a week to start and then once a week until I was much better and then once every other week. Now I will only see him for maintenance. I have not been in for more than a month but I still feel great! Dr Ueno is compasionate and excellent!
