«1.5 stars for a UPS Store? Can’t be that bad.»
I usually don’t pay attention to ratings for such mundane places that I need to go to do run an errand (gas station, convenience store, etc.). However, I should have listened to these reviews. I always knew UPS was way overpriced and expensive for printing, but I got an online quote and it was fairly reasonable for my quick turnaround time (less than $ 8 for 16 color 8.5“x11″ prints on regular weight paper). Instead of doing it online, I decided to take my flashdrive to the store assuming it would be more convenient so I could make sure the print job would be printed how I wanted.
When I walked into the store, no one greeted me out of the 3 workers standing in the front. I had to ask them what the best method was to get my printing done quickly. One of the workers answered my question, but the way he spoke and acted led me to believe he had no idea what was going on or really did not care. I was left alone to do my printing, which was fine since I knew what I was doing, but there was a customer wandering around the store while the 3 employees just disappeared.
I was able to print my 16 sheets successfully, but when I went back to the front desk to checkout, no one was there. One worker was on the phone, but didn’t even acknowledge me or motion that he would be a minute and I should wait. Two of the other workers in the back seemed to be talking to a man, not even checking to see if any customers were in the front. I was ignored until I made a noise to indicate someone was in the front and said I needed to checkout. Finally, a different worker besides the one who «helped» me with the printing, came up the front and just looked at me and said something along the lines of, «What do you need?» in a not a friendly manner. I told him I needed to checkout once again and it took awhile for him to realize what that meant.
The icing on the cake was when I was rang up and the total came out to be $ 16.59 (not including the sales tax)!! For only 16 colored prints on regular weigh letter paper! I was extremely shocked and asked the worker how much each print cost, and he replied it was 99 cents per print. Like I said, I knew UPS was more expensive than normal, but that is ridiculous. So I asked the worker why it was so expensive in store when my online quote came out to be less than $ 8 (and this was with 70lb glossy paper as the option), he said, «I don’t look at online prices.» He didn’t offer to ask the manager (who knows, maybe he was), didn’t offer to follow up later, or even seem to care there was such a huge price discrepancy.
I’ll never go back to UPS for my printing needs, but if I actually received some good customer service, I wouldn’t have been as upset. But this experience was just a no. No. Don’t go.

I had to mail an application to school at the last minute. The school wanted us to use certified mail in case we need to track the delivery status.
However, usps hours are ridiculous to work with.
I went in here after 7 PM, was able to ship by thr next morning with $ 35 fee.

I had no trouble keeping track of package, got there on time without any issues.

Went in today to return a package to a client. Had the clients account number since they were covering shipping costs. Have done this many times before at a different location but just happened to be close by to this location so I figured I would stop in and save myself some time. Not only were they unable to help me, they explained to me that this was not possible which I know is not true, but they were extremely rude with their explanation. I had multiple boxes I was trying to send and had to make multiple trips back to the car. He offered to help but I declined, I just wanted to leave and go to my normal location. As I was carrying some of the boxes out to my car, he chose to ignore my declination and literally threw the rest of my boxes out the door. Three people outside the store saw this happen and were all taken aback. I will never step foot in this location again. I advise all to steer clear of this location

Once I found the establishment It was like every other UPS Store. My biggest complaint issue was the signs inside the building were VERY confusing and I had to call them to find out where there were located.

not sure why the previous reviews were so bad. For me it was in and out, I was able to get a box — ship some stuff and pay for it. The employees are there in case you have questions, but overall is really simple you get your stuff send it and thats it. I would recommend to anyone that is close by.

I really like UPS stores and generally find the employees helpful. The UPS store in Ballston is the exception. The staff is terrible. They’re unfriendly and provide no helpful solutions to questions that I had. I will go out of my way to use a different UPS store from now on.

I had a box for 3 years. I got it because it was convenient to the metro and work. I think if you just have general mail going to your box, it’s fine. I discontinued the service because of the customer service. I had a package sent back in the last month of service valued at $ 1000.00. I think that if they were going to send it back they should have called since I had been calling to see if the package arrived. To me it’s a simple courtesy that should have been afforded for doing business for 3 years. I don’t regret terminating the service since there are other competitive options out there. Do your research before signing on the dotted line.

WAY OVER PRICED!!! I read all the other review but thought it would be OK since I was only mailing my taxes from VA to MD. Wrong. Charge me $ 17.63 to mail a few pages USPS. At the USPS office it is only $ 5.60. What a joke. Service was good but unless you have a shipping label in hand don’t bother.

I’m never going back to this place solely on the fact that it is way more expensive than other shipping places. That’s it. I went there to ship a package that contained a greeting card and a CD and ended up paying $ 20 (didn’t put insurance or anything special on it) because it was being shipped to a town in North Carolina. I believed the guy when he said that it was going to cost that much because the town was up in the mountains because the recipient had just moved up there so I didn’t know better. So I paid up but later found out I could send a package (similar size/​flat rate) from the post office for about $ 6. Sooo I know where I’m going from now on.

UGH. Today I learned the hard way that they don’t open until 8:30AM. 8:30AM when you’re located next door to a metro station? Seriously? That’s cray cray!
I rolled up at 8:25AM and grabbed the door and was perplexed when it didn’t open. An employee inside the store stared at me with a glazed look, then raised his hand as if to wave. I saw the sign for the store hours — 5 mins. to open. It was AZZ cold outside and all I had to do was drop off an Amazon return. I was seriously wishing they had a drop box… or would be kind enough to open the door so I could drop my box and leave. I know that they can’t do that for everyone, but in frigid weather? Have mercy on a poor soul! Nope. They made me wait until 8:30AM on the dot. Jerk faces!
They have really awesome Christmas lights out during the holiday season, otherwise, all of my experiences at this location have been ho-​hum to bah humbug!

If I could give this store 0 stars, I would. I moved out of DC in August, so I shipped about 15 packages from this store totaling over $ 800. I’m sure that was overpriced. One of my trips contained 9 boxes and when I asked the store clerk for help bringing the boxes in, he said he couldn’t leave the store. Super helpful!
I mailed two large pictures that I packed in their own box with padded corners and plenty of other padding. One of the picture packages showed up with a huge gash in it. The UPS driver said the other box was damaged and he had to sent it back to the shipping store. So after wondering what happened for a week, I called this store to find out. The guy who answered the phone said that the box was returned to them as per UPS policy. So my options were for him to just throw away my $ 350 picture because it was probably damaged beyond repair, or I could have them take the picture out of the box, repack it, and pay to have it shipped to me again. WHAT?
Apparently, if you pack your box yourself and don’t use a box with the right pressure rating, UPS voids the standard $ 100 insurance you get, so it’s basically useless. So now I have to pay $ 375 to get my picture fixed and shipped back to me, in addition to the original $ 50 I paid.
I spoke to the owner to ask if he could do anything to help me. He had the UPS claims team come back out and they denied the claim again. He said there was nothing he could do. I asked him if I was unrealistic to expect him to help me out at all by paying the $ 100 or at least not charge me to ship it back to me, but he had no interest in helping me.
I am glad I’ll never have to use this store again. It’s always been overpriced and the staff is completely unhelpful.

Each time I have used this location, the initial quoted price has been ridiculously high. When I’ve complained, I’ve been told that they’ll «see what they can do». I then have been given a «special rate» that is still higher than expected. I will not use this location again.

I have no idea where all these negative reviews are coming from. I have to be in the area often for business and have used this location frequently due to its super convenient location. I run a small ebay business on the side and am usually shipping things every other day, this store is perfect for when I am down in Arlington.
The gentlemen who run it are super warm and friendly and always try to help me find the best most economical option, shipping is never going to be cheap and it is worth it for me to avoid the hassle of waiting at the Post Office only to have someone who clearly hates their life serve me with rudeness and apathy.
The best part though was I left some pretty important documents behind by accident and they went out of their way to make sure they were returned to me safely (they shipped them to my house for free). I was so panicked and they did everything they could short of driving up to Baltimore to make sure they were returned to me safe and sound.
I would highly recommend this UPS store and will use them again in the future.

So I will only use this place if I have a prepaid shipping label. It is very convenient for me as they are open after 5:30pm on the weekdays and in walking distance to my place. As someone else said, it does also carry the standard mailing item supplies so that’s a plus as well.
If you don’t have a prepaid shipping label, definitely do not use them for any USPS mail as it will be much more. It does seem like the UPS and Fedex rates are also higher with this store but I can’t be 100% sure.
Although they are pricey, the guys there are nice so I give them 2 stars for that and the convenience factor of the location.

Was overcharged by $ 40 to ship a package across the country. Was in a hurry so couldn’t debate it that second, but luckily was shipping to another UPS Store who was able to remeasure it upon receipt. Their measurements were in my favor by a few inches.
Got in touch with the original store who confirmed that UPS «Central» scanned the package with lasers and got the same numbers as them.
I have the package in my hands and can’t find where they’re finding two extra inches in width. I’ve shipped many a package on my own and know to round up and use the widest point, but yeah, two inches? That’s a large number in the shipping world. And yes, that was the difference between $ 20 and $ 60 for my package.
Oh well, lesson learned; check Unilocal before using any business. Even if my (and the receiving UPS Store’s) measurements are off, a knowledgeable salesman should have noted that I was right at the edge of going into the shipping rate of «astronomical» and advised me to repackage. He did not.
Ironically, the UPS Store I shipped to is a night and day comparison to this one and I’ve given them a 5-​star review.

I went to this store on 11/​18/​2013 intending to ship a package weighing less then 5 lbs. to Brazil. The clerk was pleasant and «helpful» and offered me two options: DHL with Tracking and Insurance for $ 294.00 or USPS without insurance or tracking for $ 145.00! I was shocked and questioned him. I inquired if it would be cheaper to mail from the Post Office. He said probably $ 15.00 cheaper but there is no insurance or tracking and it will take 4 – 6 weeks – LIE. I THANKFULLY decided to pass.
Today, I went to the post office and shipped it USPS Priority Mail International for $ 52.95! Plus it is supposed to get there in 5 days!
Conclusion: Stay CLEAR of this place!!! They are unethical.

I went to purchase moving boxes today. They charged 10.99 for an empty cardboard box. I went to home depot and bought 9 of the same size boxes for 11 dollars total. this place is a ripoff.

I went here to ship a package and they wanted to charge me over $ 25 dollars to ship a 2lb package FedEx Ground to Massachusetts. The clerk (young guy, similar bad reviews) had a very «so what, why should I care that I’m over-​charging you» attitude, so I went to the computer in the store, went on my own FedEx account, spent $.10 to create and print out my own label which came to just oer $ 6 via FedEx ground. I don’t know what was going on here, but they really do over-​charge you for shipping.
When I told him that it came out to less than $ 7, he shrugged it off. This place is a SCAM. I hope others do not have a similar experience.

I needed to return a package to Amazon and wanted a receipt for the drop off (I already had a prepaid label). But, they had already shut down their systems by 4:55 even though the closing time is 5:00, so they couldn’t scan my package into the system. Very annoying.
I understand if you shut down some registers when it gets near closing time. However, what retail store shuts down all their registers before the store actually closes? No sense of customer service whatsoever.

This is a decent UPS Store that sells everything you need to ship your things but don’t buy the postage here. Let me repeat DO NOT ship anything from here. I wanted to send a 10 lb box and they wanted to charge me $ 45, I scoffed and went online and shipped the package myself from
for $ 15.
The markup on the shipping is out of control. Stay away…
