This is the go to steeler location. So much so you can’t sit down or move in this place during game day. I have to say the people that go there are very friendly and it’s a slice of the Burgh so sure. I have not been there for other sporting events besides steelers football and pens hockey. I saw on their website they are a penn st venue. I am a Pitt fan and I didn’t see Pitt on the site. That would be sad and disappointing because Pitt is in pittsburgh and not in central pa. Lol suggestion… Add Pitt to your site.

I love this bar! My boyfriend and I wander over for almost every NHL game. The beers are an average price for the area and the food is quick and delicious. I love the mac and cheese burger with more mac and cheese on the side… if you can’t tell, their mac and cheese is fantastic.

Came in late, a little before 1:30 after 3 other bars turned us down despite it being before last call. Les(bartender) was happy to serve us, which was much appreciated after a long and delayed flight. The whole vibe of the place was chill, and Les made us feel at home the whole time.

My boyfriend, an avid Steelers fan, and I love this place. It *is* indeed a Steelers bar and so much fun when the game is on. Lots of singing, chanting, and other shenanigans. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and pretty damn good too. For 1PM games, we usually come for brunch so we can grab good seats. Definitely expect the place to be packed by about 30 – 40 minutes prior to kickoff. They also have fun raffles and giveaways! Service here is quick and everyone is friendly. Don’t forget to bring your Terrible Towel!

This was a very nice«comfort» bar to find within walked my distance. We didn’t arrive until 1:15pm on a steelers Sunday with a 1:00pm kickoff so we were kinda SOL-but that’s no fault of this establishment at all. We still found room to stand in a standing room only crowd. My boyfriend only had one drink but I had several, and was quickly(or decently quickly) approached for my order each time I went to the bar. If you’re a Steelers fan you absolutely MUST make your way here– they play either Black and Yellow or the Pittsburgh polka or «Here we go» with each touchdown! I plan to come considerably earlier next time so I can sample the food! They support all Pittsburgh teams In addition to FSU(YAY!) and Penn state(BOO!) and Ohio State(Double BOO!) — but I’m a PITT alum so that’s not something I hold against them! I’ll be back here surely many times during the NFL season! GOSTEELERS!

This place is cool. I was next-door at Freddy’s beach bar and restaurant and I decided I wanted better food so I came to tortoise and hare. I ordered the loaded waffle fries and the vegetables and hummus. The waffle fries were good except for the fact that the cheese got hard quick and I hate when cheese is supposed to be gooey but it’s cold and hard. The veggies were good. They were all fresh! I liked the carrots, celery, and cucumber but the hummus was just disgusting. The taste and consistency were off. I’ve been here during happy hour with coworkers and I’ve always liked the items I ordered. I love their sliders and the spinach dip. I will continue to come back.

Terrible service. We sat outside for ten minutes before we asked the bartender if we could get served. Never came and we just walked out without even getting a nod from him.

Another charming neighborhood bar in Crystal City! My fiancé and I visited for a late lunch on a Sunday recently. The bar wasn’t crowded at all and service was decent. I ordered a BBQ Burger(with ham and cheese) and my fiancé also ordered a burger(with crab dip, which was pretty unique). My burger was DELICIOUS! And those fries on the side were amazing too, and I don’t say that about fries too often. We also got drinks –the customary beer for my fiancé and a margarita for me. Tasty! They have plenty of TVs and also, apparently, live music on certain nights. They had a posted for«DJ Pandora.» My fiancé and I were seriously wondering if that was just their attempt at being funny and having someone DJ the Pandora station /just put music from Pandora on, or if DJ Pandora is really an actual DJ. Haha. The atmosphere isn’t totally as homey as other bars. The setup is a bit odd and the majority of their tables are set up in a square in the middle of the restaurant. No booths and not super comfy /homey. But it’s a fun place to go catch a sports game. Tortoise & Hare is located right next to the Crystal City Sports Pub(which I also recently visited and reviewed). While I prefer the atmosphere of CC Sports Pub more, I think I preferred the food at Tortoise & Hare. It tasted fresher and the hamburger buns were not as dry. They’re both excellent bars, though, and we will be back to visit both.

Went on a Saturday evening on Memorial Day weekend for a bite and a drink with a few friends. Place wasn’t busy and we were served quickly. Food was excellent and the service was very good. Sarah was very attentive and friendly and took great care of us. We had dinner and then a few drinks out in a small screened-in porch type thing that doesn’t have any screens. Their home made mac and cheese is excellent. Tried it on an 8oz angus burger. I was impressed. My wife had a spicy chicken and broccoli alfredo pasta dish. Lots of heat and chicken in virtually every bite. Actually reminded me of Jamaican jerk a little bit. Allspice maybe? Everyone was satisfied. We had a good time. Menu prices were very reasonable. Drinks were a little more pricey. Makes sense for a bar like this I suppose. Still, I have no problem recommending this place. Try it out.

Had a great time here. Food was good, drinks were on point and the live music on Friday nights was definitely a great plus. I know each day has a different fun night for the patrons. I had the Cali burger which was spicy and delicious with big cuts of jalepeno! I also got the tater tots. It brought nostalgic memories from my elementary cafeteria days. I plan to check it out for brunch!

Other reviews mention the fact that it’s a Steelers bar, which brought me in, being as I’m a native of the Burgh. I was delighted to get there and see the upstate New York references and menu items, as I’m a long time resident of Rochester and now Binghamton. So cool to see a Pittsburgh Sandwich(think Primanti Bros.), beef on Weck, and that tribute to Nick Tahou, the«Dumpster Plate.» Get chicken spiedies on the menu and you’ll be perfect. If I ever make it back, I’m bringing an RIT banner for the wall. Oh yeah, the food was good, the service was friendly and quick. Even if you’re not from Pittsburgh or upstate NY, you’ll like the place.

BRUNCHREVIEW: The more times I come here, the more surprised I am about the quality of the food for a neighborhood bar. I’ve lived several blocks away from T&H for almost four years now, and it is remarkable how much better the food has gotten in that time(and I liked it before). This change is best reflected in T&H’s brunch menu, which offers some of the best brunch food options in the area. Someone at T&H needs to update the website — they are now open at 9AM on Sundays, they offer a much broader selection of Brunch offerings, and they have a fantastic $ 2 Mimosa deal with the order of any entrée(and they load in the champagne itoo). My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Sunday around noon. We ordered the Eggs Florentine($ 9.50) and the Crabcake Benedict($ 11.50). Maybe I went in with low expectations, even though I love their lunch/dinner food here, but I was blown away by both dishes. They were cooked perfectly — the eggs were light and fluffy, served with delicious hash browns cooked in peppers and crispy bacon. The crab cake was delicious — no imitation crab meat here. The prices were very reasonable and much more affordable than your typical overpriced DC brunch options. If you haven’t tried T&H’s brunch yet, definitely make an effort to go try it out. My only complaint is that they usually only have one waiter/waitress covering all the tables in restaurant, resulting in delayed service. However, that’s not enough for me to drop it a star, as the rest was perfect.

This place is the absolute worst. The bartender lost my debit card behind the bar somewhere. I was visibly annoyed and he suggested that I just«cancel the card». I’m sorry, what? Why should I have to inconvenience myself because the bartender is irresponsible? After twenty minutes of searching he finally found it but was arguing with me and even cursed at me throughout the the process. A manager came out but didn’t seem to be concerned that his employee had just yelled at me. Stay far away.

This is a sports pub that is currently living, literally and figuratively, in the shadow of Crystal City Sports Pub. These are two excellent establishments within a half block of each other. Both are very good, and I patronize both. T&H claim to fame is that their focus is for their patrons to have FUN! I’ve been here for trivia night(Tuesday) a couple of times, and have really enjoyed myself. Live music several nights per week. A number of the same food items as Crystal City Sports Pub, but a number of solid differences. Others swear by the tater tots, but I have not tried them. Here, Wednesday night is half price burger night(Monday at CCSC). I would recommend trying both if you are in the area. The differences are like asking a Ford or Chevy person which they like better.
