I was here at the Doubletree for 8 days for a Convention. Long enough to poke my eyes out. My travel companion had a narrow window of time to come meet me here. He had been traveling elsewhere, but with some fancy logistical acrobatics and strategic planning, I managed to fly him up later, just for the evening and then back home again. Quickest trip in the history of the world, but he knew how much it meant to me, during a tumultuous week of work and there *are* a million flights a day and the flights are short.(He had missed a few flights earlier, so I think he was feeling bad about that). But our time was quality. Long enough to kiss and cuddle at the hotel, and long enough to take the elevator upstairs to eat at Windows over Washington. We both hate how short-lived our mini escapes are, but we promise eachother one day soon things will be different. Mini escapes in mediocre hotels/restaurants will be week-long extravaganzas in gorgeous venues with stellar food. Especially because our passports both desparately need stamps. I digress… We shared some mediocre appetizers, drank some mediocre drinks, looked at the Pentagon, the Washington Monument, and other various Washington landmarks, as we revolved around the city. I’m really not sure what this restaurant is trying to do. It’s not fancy, but the prices would suggest otherwise. There are jumbo TV screens like a sports bar, and uncomfortable chairs at tables without tablecloths, but there is this beautiful view. I went again later in the week with some colleagues of mine and it was the night of a beautiful moon. The restaurant left all the sidewall lights on bright and it was annoying at best, infuriating at worst. It would have been nice to see the moon shining brightly without distractions and without reflections.

The view was amazing nut the food needs to improve. I would not recommend the calamari it wasn’t fully cooked and the breeding was falling off. I also hade the blackbean burger but it tasted like it was deep fried.

They won’t let kids stay after 9 pm on Fri and Sat. To bad we had 12 people. There lost

My boyfriend took me here for Valentine’s Day. Amazing view, the food is OK — rather pricy, but not bad for what you get — the service was mediocre. It took three hours for us to finish our meal. I will probably go back because it’s close, romantic and has an incredible view. It was a set meal for Valentine’s Day and we ordered a bottle of wine. The wine selection was reasonable, but most of them I had never heard of and there was no description on the menu. The waiter, however, picked a good one based on my description of what I like. I had the raw oysters as my appetizer. They were fresh and salty, but topped with an odd a watery, katsup glaze. It was a strange sauce, but flavorless, so it didn’t really impact the taste of the oysters much. I would’ve been happier with straight horseradish. My boyfriend had the asparagus topped with Parmesan. This was really tasty — it’s always a good idea to top asparagus with Parmesan. I wished I had this over the oysters. It took what seemed like forever for our dinner to come out. I had the duck. It was OK, but not much flavor. It was cooked perfectly, however. My boyfriend had balsamic skirt steak. Again, cooked perfectly, but not a lot of flavor and too much balsamic. For dessert I had the crème brûlée — this was AMAZING. And my boyfriend had the chocolate mousse, good, but standard. I did note that the presentation of the food was done well. A true artist plated that food. I was not pleased with the length of time it took to get each portion of the meal, although, it may have been intentional. I would recommend this place for a special occasion — just make sure you don’t have somewhere to be after, and stick with the basics(and maybe bring some salt and pepper in your bag).

went with a group for dinner during comedy night. food was not mediocre, but I think it’s more on the pricey side because of the view you get from the tall story building. guess its a nice place to take out of towners so they see the city but overall I wasn’t too impressed with the food. fyi, restaurant is inside the hotel.

I’ve been to the bar, but not to the restaurant, which is one floor below the bar. Great view. Revolving bar. Free nuts. Loud karaōke on Wednesdays and Sundays. Jacket required on weekends. There is only one elevator that goes to the bar, so you sometimes have to press the button a few times to get the right elevator to cycle to pick you up. Drinks are a little pricey, but you come here for the view and the novelty of a venue that revolves. It is definitely worth checking out. They close at midnight on weeknights.

Wow. We were blown away by the food, the service and the view. We were thinking of having our wedding reception there(thanks Christopher the amazing wedding planner!}, but chose one place near our home in Old Town. The view is stunning. The rotating upstairs bar is fantastic. I would highly recommend it for a reception or other events. And again, Christopher who works for Double Tree was outstanding! kudos!

Great food, with a great view of Washington DC monuments. The food is a little pricey, but the service is great, and I would definetly recommned it for special occasions.
