Just got done buying a few things at this awesome ski shop. From the moment we walked through the door me, my wife and three kids were greeted by several nice employees. They immediately made us feel like we were part of their family and even helped to keep our children occupied. The store has everything you could possibly need for a family or serious ski trip. The staff seem very knowledgable and helpful. I am from the Washington, DC area and have been to many ski shops throughout the US, and his was one of the best I have been too.

Best bike and ski shop in Westchester. The owner skip is outgoing and present while his army of professionals are simply happy to help, the bike shop is proficient and professional, the ski shop always has the best skis and affordable rentals, the staff frequently goes to events and training seminars. Maybe the only problem with the tweed is that it is way to awesome for some people who can’t handle the extreme selection and unique staff. –WAABI!

Was rolling through town on an 80 mile ride. Stopped for lunch up the street and noticed my rear tire was showing signs of wear. I still had 40 more to go and while It might have survived the trip, why risk it? So I stopped in at a moment’s notice to see if I could buy a new tire. Brian(name on my receipt, confirmed by photo on website) hooked me up. He changed my tire, lubed my chain and fine tuned my gears(which had been working fine and are now working better;less trimming makes me a happy girl). All this and I still had time to get my lunch and not keep the rest of my group waiting. Thanks!

I have been outfitting my family at Hickory & Tweed in Armonk for five years. Every Autumn, we rent ski boots for my older daughters and skis and boots for my four-year-old. The sales people are incredibly patient and I always feel like they treat us as if our business means everything to them. I send everyone there and warn them against other ski shops in our area that have repeatedly proven to me they are out for your cash only. The Hickory & Tweed folks took back my daughter’s rental boots last year and refunded my money(no questions asked) when I decided to get that daughter’s boots from another shop where her racing coach works. I feel like they genuinely want you to have fun and are there to make it happen. This is my very first Unilocal

Biking — I had my Cannondale for maintenance at Hickory & Tweed. I was very disappointed. First they can’t even make the easiest maintenance on their own and had to sent my Lefty fork to Cannondale and when I picked it up the mechanic was not able to inform me about the service and told the trainee to hand it over(friendly but perhaps not yet as competent as needed in this situation). At home I saw that the bar was not in the correct position and he didn’t do anything more than really needed. I asked him to review something else what he as well didn’t do. Never again.

Usually I buy everything(and I mean everything) online. But i needed ski boots, and decided to get them at a local store. Jack did a great job with the boot fitting — he is extremely patient and spent an hour or even more making sure I had the perfect boots. Skip the owner introduced himself and gave me some pointers. Very happy I found this place. Going to lease skis here next year. Great place!

Review of the BIKESHOP at Hickory and Tweed: The bike shop at Hickory and Tweed is a good shop. They carry primarily Cannondale and Specialized and have a reasonable selection of Specialized shoes, soft goods, and accessories. I have used them to get spares for my Specialized crit bike, but I prefer other for service work on my bikes.

Prices are competitive and the service is unbeatable. Their boot fitter did a great job on my ski boots and you can tell that they take pride in their work. I drive 90 mins, past many other ski shops, just to come to H&T.

Skiing is my passion and it’s one of the major reasons I work 47 weeks each year. H&T meet my needs and always have. Skip is a tireless server of customers. Friendly, knowledgable, worldly and humble. He hires young people who he trusts and seems to develop the working relationship in a family style. H&T has a great assortment of equipment and clothing. They do fitting and repairs with care. They seem to spire to perform at the level of ski and bike shops that have the advantage of being near a resort.

I am new to Westchester and needed to pick up some bindings for my new Armada JJ skis that I am excited to get into action out West this year. These guys were great to work with and walked me through the various options without a hard sell. Highly recommend for kids or adults.

Love this shop. I drive 20 mile out of my way for this place. Super friendly service. My buddy got the hook up here. Some deal about buying 2 cervelos and getting 1000 bucks off each one. So he and another guy went in on the deal. He ended up with a P2 for 1500 bucks! You just can’t beat that.

Further along on my quest to buy unnessecary fun objects to use while on my first trip out west, I found myself with a desire to purchase a Camelbak. Due to the high altitude in Colorado, it’s best to keep oneself hydrated and slathered in sunscreen. Besides, I hate coming off the mountain to pay $ 4 for a bottle of Aquafina and wade through a pile of whining children. Thus, I’ve rationalized buying an insulated Camelbak hydration pack and denied myself the pleasure of owning numerous other extraneous items. I’d shopped around online and waited far too long to have something delivered on time before I left… so it was either shop local or pay $ 20.00 in shipping costs to have it arrive prior to my departure. I skipped into Hickory & Tweed and was immediately greeted by a staff member and directed upstairs to look for such an item. I found it right away, and then perused the helmet selection. I had recently purchased a helmet from Giro and lo! H&T carried the headphone accessory that accommodated my helmet! Impulse buy. Don’t tell Liz. Skip was friendly and introduced himself, and took time to get to know his customer and even look up my helmet in a guide to ensure there was compatibility with the headphones. $ 30? Ok. Although, I’m imagining myself a month from now… eating ramen wishing I had just $ 30 more to buy some sort of alternate food item. Skip also showed me a picture of himself freestyle skiing up at Waterville, my former local mountain. Prices were on point with what I saw online, staff was friendly, and it’s convenient to my office. +50pts.
