We love the Humane Society Thrift Store! Very conveniently located right next door to Big Trees Market. I am always on a mission to de-clutter my house, so I frequently drop off old toys and kids clothes here. Staff is always friendly here. I do believe that donations are accepted only before 3 pm. This is a nice place to find used books, now that the used book store closed. Also, they have kitties!!! To bad my daughter is allergic and we can’t take one home. But they are fun to look at.

Probably one of the best thrift stores I’ve ever been in. Everything was priced right and it’s full of vintage treasures and fun finds. Definitely worth a step inside! The clothes were a little«meh» but the trinkets and housewares were worth the trip. This is good old fashioned thrifting — you can walk in with $ 5 and leave with a few awesome items.

One of my must stop places. Now the thing with thrift shops is one never knows what deals you may find or not. Sometimes, you strike out and other times it’s a grand slam. Supply, demand and depends on who sets the price This one in Arnold is typically reasonably priced plus the proceeds go to the Calaveras Humane Society! Just picked up an analog phone for $ 3 — perfect back up if we lose power. This shop is clean and organized.

I love the staff and have a fun time searching for treasures. It is convenient to stop in whenever we are at Big Trees Market next store. However, the reviews here are a bit old for the most part, and as far as the recent pricing, it has gone WAY up. There are many more places in Sonora and even a couple in Angels with FAR better deals and also good donation causes!

Because of my wife’s business as a professional organizer I help her out by dropping stuff here. I often purchase things here because this place is so busy and is constantly getting new items. Most times the staff are very helpful and considerate. Never have they been rude or impatient with me. I agree with the other Unilocaler who said that in order to get five stars the staff should smile more. Personally I’ve been smiled at lots at this store but that’s probably because I smile at everyone as I go through my day so it’s easier for people to smile back. I’ve also been greeted pretty consistently so perhaps the staff has read and implemented the suggestions of the previous Unilocaler’s complaint. Often on weekends I stop in the store just to visit the pets up for adoption. I especially enjoy the kitty cats and always want to take them home. I hope they expand as space becomes available. This store actually get’s a little crowded at times it’s so busy.

This place is the only thrift store I know of where you can buy a $ 10 suit, and actually LOOKGOOD wearing it. Selection’s not the biggest, but you seriously cannot beat these deals. Plus, it’s all going toward a good cause!

Love stopping here, always find a little gem. Prices are very good, well below goodwill and other thrift stores. Got a black diamond jacket for $ 4.99. The store is clean and very well organized. Would have given 5 stars except for the staff. I have been in the store 10+ times and never seen anyone smile, not even welcomed when we walked in. I go for the deals and tolerate the service.

It has been my experience that thrift stores in rural areas often offer the best deals and Calaveras Humane Society is no exception. This thrift store opened last October and is staffed by volunteers who keep the place in tip-top shape. Things are always orderly and tidy and the quality of donated goods is quite high — and the pricing is quite reasonable. I love to go to a thrift store and feel like I came away with a bargain — rather than leaving something that I felt was overpriced. The cherry on this sundae, however, is that you get to visit some fabulous felines while you are in the store — they have some large cages and bring in fostered animals to hang out for the day with the volunteers who welcome visitors to pet and play with the animals. I totally fell in love with Sugarfoot — a 2 year old male kitty who is on his 2nd foster home — he is a total«old lady» cat — he loves to get his jaw rubbed at the same time as his belly and will give about two hours to stop. OK — back to the thrift store — at times it seems the place is overstaffed — there are so many people in the tiny shop that it seems the volunteers outnumber the shoppers — but they are all sweet, friendly and kind without being intrusive or overbearing. Some of my awesome finds have included — a set of 6 clean, freshly laundered reversible placemats(strawberries on one side, red field with tiny white polka dots on the other) for $ 1.99; a Thermos brand large stainless steel lined green enamel thermos for $ 5.95; two darling cut glass sherry glasses for $ 2.95; two enamel over steel coffee cups(no nicks!) for $ 2; oh and a pair of XC skis and boots for $ 15. That’s right — this is Arnold — you can find perfectly decent hand-me-down downhill and XC ski gear here, and since the shop is new and the season is hardly over, I suspect the pickings will only improve in the next few months. I look forward to my next visit to the thrift store — and happily suspect that they may outgrow their current space very soon!
