I guess today is make random stops at nearby library day, because this is the second library I’ve visited… in less than 6 hours. I have found that I’d much rather stop at a library to do work rather than stop at a restaurant or bar for their wi-fi. I also didn’t want to stop in to work at the office out in Imperial. My last appointment of the day is 2 miles from this location. There’s always too many distractions at restaraunts, and you feel obligated to pay for something to be there and time feels limited. Like it’s weird to buy one drink and stay at a place for hours to surf the web to me. Not at a quiet public library though… This library looks pretty nice and modern. I like that there was an outlet near every random chair and table for laptop users like myself. I found that here, unlike most other libraries I have visited, you will need to go to the information desk to obtain a user id in order to access the internet here. You are allowed up to 6 hours on your own device, but the system will log you out every hour. You have to re-log-in every hour. It’s their system, I’m not complaining. Could be worse… I could be on a roof or in an attic right now in this heat… I’ll take this place of enlightenment over a tan any day.

I really enjoy this library. It looks so nice and they do a great job with their displays and programs. I definitely agree with Joey though. Keep an eye on your returns. I’ve had issues multiple times with books that I’ve returned, that they’ve failed to check in, and then I’ve found them put back on the shelf. I like the self check out system. Very handy and it leaves the librarians more readily available to help with other things. My kids like that they get to swipe their own books. Bonus fun! The children’s/teen’s staff is OUTSTANDING! My kids adore them. They are an invaluable resource during the school year. We are once again anticipating a great summer program with them.

I remember when I was a kid, I wanted a local public library really badly, because Jefferson County didn’t have a local library. The only library I had was the grade school one and the books were incredibly substandard. When this library finally opened up in the City Hall off of Jeffco Blvd., I almost crapped my pants, even though it was a lot smaller and a hole in the wall. Still, there was a decent selection of books. This location finally opened up in 2005 and I am quite jealous of this generation, because this location finally is catching up to today’s standards. There is a huge amount of selection in this library. You can easily get lost in the Fiction section and there is a nice kid’s selection in the back portion. This location also upgraded with self checkout computers that can scan your card and the books you want to check out. My advice though, is that you need to either renew your materials on time or deliver the books back in person. Because this location has a huge habit of losing books and, if you do not return books, amass a huge fine. It seems that Jefferson County doesn’t have a local ordinance that caps how much libraries can charge you on overdue fines. This is much needed.

This library is one of my faves. I come here all the time to get books & movies. They have music CDs, workout videos, workout DVDs & movies(both in VHS&DVD forms). They even have software tutorials. It may take a while to get a new book, but I’d rather wait than spend $$ on a book. The Interlibrary service is awesome! The entire staff is wonderful! They have free wi-fi. I am sooo happy that my tax dollars are being spent wisely on such a great place.
