I took my CCW class here and it was a blast! The instructor, Matt, had a sense of humor and made us all feel very welcome. I did not ever feel nervous about any safety issues, and the class seemed to go by very quickly. It almost seemed like the more I learned, the more I realized how much I _don’t_ know, so if you’re a beginner like me, see this course as a starting point to a lifetime of learning and practice w/firearms! I used a Groupon which made the course very affordable. Would definitely recommend.

Took the CCW course, Matt was an excellent instructor. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and entertaining. He held my attention for 8 hours which is a challenging task to do. Thanks Sovereign Arms for the wonderful and educational experience.

I took my CCW training with them and recently did the Personal Protection Inside the Home class. I am on a list for the next Personal Protection Outside the Home class. Yes, the facility used to be a gas station but I don’t understand why that matters to anyone. It’s a small business and they are keeping costs down. I choose to be a customer here because I take personal protection seriously and I respect them. Matt is a good guy and matter-of-fact. If you are a bar stool expert or Bro-Dude, don’t waste his time. If you are ever in a situation where you have to use your weapon and skills to protect yourself or family, you’ll be glad you were a customer here and invested in yourself.

Store is located in a old gas station, firing range in a car wash. The help there can be hit or miss. A person named Matt has a very condescending attitude as in their crap don’t stink, save for the dog crap in the parking lot. The firing range is in a car wash with what seems to be no protection from a errant side fire or smoke removal systems. It is stifling hot in the summer even with their Window unit ac and extremely loud, and cramped. Recently inquired about purchasing some items and was told something I couldn’t make out and hung up on. Even though it’s nearby I’d drive a few extra miles to get a better level of professionalism and service.

Not a bad place to learn how to shoot for the first time. Although we did have to wait practically an hour after our appointment time to be able to shoot because there were only two guys working the store and people were trying to buy stuff all of the sudden. But I didn’t mind waiting because there were lots of guns to look at. I am sure there are bigger places out there with better selections but we had a good time browsing anyway. The guys who work here(at least when I stopped by) were very knowledgeable and helpful. I think we had Josh(?) as our instructor and he taught us how to safely and properly use our weapons. I picked an M1911(my fave) to shoot with and Sean picked a revolver. Not sure of the model, though. Mine was a Sig Sauer and his was a Taurus. This place used to be an old gas station which they converted to a range. The car wash is actually the range! We got proper hearing and eye protection and bought 200 of the .22 bullets. It was only about $ 20something for the ammo. Oh and I was using a Groupon, btw. I was a little nervous at first, not going to lie, but mostly for the recoil and noise. It wasn’t an issue at all. We used two targets and the first one was kind of a joke as my aim was pretty bad, but I gradually improve! All the while we chatted and joked with the instructor and he gave us tidbits of advice and suggestions on how to improve posture and aim. All in all, a fun experience, and I’d go back again but I want to try other ranges in the area too.

Me and one of my buddies went there when we both started getting into guns, we asked a few rookie questions and the two guys there treated us like idiots. Ill probably never go back.

I highly recommend Sovereign Arms for your next firearms purchase. Matt and his staff seem to be really straight shooters(pun intended). They took the time to help me select the right firearm answering all of my questions AND offered a very fair price for my trade-in. The range is a little small, but has A/C and is very reasonable($ 10 per ½ hour or $ 15 per day) My next purchase will definitely be at Sovereign Arms!

In the past 3 years I’ve really picked up guns and shooting as my main hobby. I’ve bought around 30 new pistols and rifles in the last 3 years. I bought my first one at Denny Dennisons when they were running a sale. Wasn’t to happy with the salesman. Purchased my next couple at Cabellas, never go back. I do like Smitty’s in Desoto they’re very nice and helpful but when I took my Smith there to be sent back for repairs took 2 months. Matt the owner of Sovereign is very hands on so try to seem him if your serious about buying. He’s got some knuckle heads working there and some of them are Jefferson County cops and those guys are some dip shits. Takes em forever to figure out how much you owe for the range and god forbid there’s targets and ammo on there that he has to add on. What do you expect for $ 10 an hour. But all that stuff aside I wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Matt is honest and if it’s not right he’ll make it right.

This was my second time at the range. Both times I brought my 13yr. old daughter. The first time I did the piggy back which let both of us shoot on the same lane for a ½ hour for $ 15. Today we went again and the guy at the counter asked me if we were both shooting. I told him just her today. We bought 1 target and hit the range. 25 minutes later we went inside to pay and they wanted to charge for both of us shooting. I told them again it was just her. The guy behind the counter said«well how do I know it was just her.» Then he stared at me like an idiot. Why did he even ask me? They have cameras on the range. He did not give me any money back. Also there website has a deal on Sundays that lets you and a buddy shoot 2 for 1. Unfortunately after my buddy and his father-in-law shot they told him that it should have been off of the web site in June and he had to charge them both full price. That was 4 weeks ago. Today it is still on the web site. With these business practices and all the new ranges opening up in the St. Louis area hopefully these guys wont be around to long!

Good selection and a ccw discount with gun purchase. They also have a small indoor range. It’s a 40 ft range. The owner said my wee ones can shoot there with a signed waiver and adult supervision. Many other ranges have an older minimum age.
