I always saw this place while driving on Pioneer Blvd, but never checked it out until I had to throw a big BBQ party for my sister’s b-day. And I regret that I haven’t checked this place earlier! Their meat selection is larger than any other butcher shops’ nearby; they have two adjacent stores and a separate storage. The quality of meat is hands down best, especially their pork belly, rib and briskets. I explained the number of guests and some details of the occasion to an employee, and she was very understanding of my needs. She did not try to sell me more than I needed; instead, she recommended me to buy four different kinds of meat – each in just the right quantity for me to large amount of high-quality meat with reasonable price. I asked tips for cooking(grilling time, sauce, etc.) and she kindly took her time to explain them to me. If you’re used to buying mediocre-quality meat for cheap price at grocery stores like Zion Market and Ralphs, you might find this place pricey. But for someone like me who’d rather pay a little more for high quality, this place’s meat was worth every dime. I’m definitely coming here again whenever I need a good amount of meat for any special occasion.

I usually go to a meat market to pick up fresh samgyubsal(pork belly), intestines, and pretty much whatever the butcher recommends that day for the best korean bbq. The stores in Koreatown such as Choice Meat Market is always top notch when it comes to quality and service. I expected the same here. I was driving by and noticed this place and saw the one review listed by Theodore. I figured it’s worth a try and proceeded inside. I was so shocked to find the place so dark and empty… There was a display right in front of me with maybe 3 – 4 packets of meat. I couldn’t even tell what kind they were since it was display was so dirty. Seriously, I should’ve taken some pictures of this place. The workers were just sitting on a chair in the back talking on the phone with a friend. Another man came up to me asking me what I was doing there. I told him I was wondering if they had any large intestine aka: dae chang. He pulled out a packet from a huge freezer and said they only sell it frozen. When I asked him how it tasted he shrugged and said, «I guess it’s okay? I’m not really fond of it…» Needless to say, I was stupid enough to buy the intestines. Why? I really really wanted some daechang… and honestly it was less than $ 5 for two servings so I thought eh, why not? Fellow Unilocalers, I hope you guys never ever go here for your meat. I tried different ways to make these intestines somewhat edible… grilling, cooking them in the oven, frying, … you name it. The marinade itself was just horrible. not to mention the quality was worse than anything you can imagine. Don’t ever go here. Period.
