I would have given lower but one star is as low as it will allow. This place is awful! The queso tasted spoiled. They are selling top round and calling it steak and serving it with stale tortillas. The ice cream nachos were made with ice milk and it wasn’t even one scoop but cost $ 7.50. The only decent thing was the margarita but it’s hard to screw up tequila. We will not be back. I hope this place closes and they put a Tequilas in

Excellent service — not sure our servers but everyone that walked by the table(empty chip bowl and salsa filled automatically) — Food was very good, I even cleaned my plate it was so good. I got the ‘fresh’ Margarita which did not use the mix and I really like it.

These guys seem to find a way to get better every time I eat here. Recommend the Carnitas Tacos! Meat is seasoned awesome a lot like Vaca Frita from Cuba Cuba and just squeeze some lime and BAM! Staff does a good job.

Came here based on a recommendation from a house seller in the area. Lunch town crowd on a Tuesday was pretty light. What I swallowed: FAJITABURRITO: Meat was pretty grisly but it was almost all grilled peppers with splashes of grisly meat. The flavors were there but. the setup was just not right. Service was very friendly tho.

This place was horrible. The«Grande» burrito, was about the same size of Taco Bell burrito. I told the waitress that that burrito was unacceptable, she said«Oh, I don’t know what you want me to do». We paid our check, and left. Never again, not paying premium price for horrible food!

STUFFEDSOPAIPILLA — — - N A S T Y.. .…Do you expect a fluffy pillow of bread dough, fried crisp on the outside and stuffed with flavorful beef & beans, smothered in green chile? Yeah, me too. Stopped in for lunch today, and have been wanting to try this place out. Nice interior, and the requisite music was playing. My waiter was quick to take my order(Stuffed Sopaipilla w/beef — $ 11.40; side of rice — $ 2.55), and provided a complimentary basket of fresh chips and salsa. I should have known something was strange when he returned with my meal INLESSTHANFOURMINUTES. .. .. and what he plopped down in front of me was obviously slopped together at the speed of light. What you get here is a very bizarre interpretation; their«sopaipilla» is actually a couple of friggin’ crackers made from rectangles of fried flour tortilla — sandwiching a slathering of runny refrieds and ground beef. Top it with the green chile you were expecting, and you end up with a soggy, disappointing mess where the tortillas melt into muck. THISISNOT A STUFFEDSOPAIPILLA!!! Had my waiter come back to check on me, or to ask«how is everything», I would have asked him to take it back. As it were, another person dropped off my check without asking either, so. .…paid the bill and resolved never to go back. Wayyyy to many good Mexican restaurants around for much less $$$. .. .. .

The service was fantastic but the food didn’t have much flavor aside from being some spicy green chile. The margarita was exceptional but you can get those at any Mexican joint. Unfortunately my husband and I both got sick after eating here :-(

I recommend this place if you enjoy food straight out of a can. the green chili is not good no flavor and no heat. the fish tacos were cut up fish sticks, the corn tortilla were not prepared correct and cracked and felt apart when try to roll one up, the beans were straight from a can and watered down and the rice well solid instant rice. 13 $ a plate no way. this is not good Mexican food.

The beer was ice cold! Which really helped because the salsa and green chili were hotter than hell! Had shredded beef chimichangas and shredded beef flautists and shredded beef taco and chicken chimichangas. The chicken was okay more average but everybody that had the shredded beef thought it was great! The salsa and the guacamole both were very very good. The waitstaff was great very attentive and friendly. I would definitely come back

We used to really enjoy this place but it seems things have changed. The server was grumpy and the food was just average chain restaurant food. It seems they have raised their prices to adjust for the amount of customers who are not returning. The taco meat was similar to that in a sloppy joe. The Green chili was meatless and flavorless. The refried beans were cold and bland. Don’t think we will be returning.

We enjoy coming here. It’s one of several Mex restaurants in this area, and we like them all for different reasons. El Señor Sol is big and roomy, not as crowded or loud as the other places. Margs are tasty, and they’re only $ 3 during happy hour. Both times I’ve ordered the steak fajita burrito, the steak has been tough and too chewy. Flautas are delicious, rellenos are good, chili is good. Another note– their food is not spicy. Could definitely be spicier, especially for Mexican food. I’ve noticed a lot of their customers are older folks, so maybe they’re catering to that a bit, but I expect Mex/TexMex foods to be at least a little spicy.

I went here last night and I believe I can honestly say this is the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. I tasted what everyone at the table had, and nothing deserved more than a 1 star review. Our waitress, by the way, was the most sour-faced, unfriendly wait staff I have encountered in a very long time. We would not even consider a return trip.

Good, predictable mexican food. Staff is always friendly and you can get in and out pretty quick.

This place is great – we were in the area and super hungry. We got seated quickly, our waiter was prompt and friendly, and the food was hot and delicious. I had the pregnant burrito and my husband had the Señor Sol enchiladas. Both were very satisfying. Would totally come again.

So sad. This place use to have a great staff and great food. The last few times I have gone in I have gotten crappy service and now crappy food. Three people passed us by with no acknowledgement as we waited at the front to be seated. One waitress would not make eye contact with because she was too busy socializing at the bar all night with the other staff while we were waiting on her to order. When I asked for a to-go box THREE times, she still did not bring one. Both occasions our waiter/waitress did not visit the table more then once. We had to flag down someone else to tell them I received a burnt tamale and the other tamale was so old and dry I couldn’t even cut it. After waiting 15 minutes after we were done eating(I had to get a replacement meal), we finally went to the hostess stand to pay our bill, and then got whammied with a $ 16 charge for ONE medium margarita. & of course — today I feel sick to my stomach — probably a touch of food poisoning…

Food was okay but expensive for what it is. There is not a lot of Mexican food in west Arvada so okay in a pinch but would rather drive to get better Mexican.

El señor sol delivers again! It’s always a great experience to dine here, and the food is excellent. Tonight I had the combo platter with a burrito, enchilada, and chile rellenos. Delish! Even their fresh salsa is awesome.

Quick Backstory: And a quick glance into a few of my pet peeves, Still using the term«Stewardess», 10% tippers when you’re a 100% complainer, people that don’t give you that«courtesy wave» when you let them in traffic and salt on the rim of my Margarita glass. I know right, you ask…“On the rocks, no salt please,” and your drink comes overloaded with brackish, briny little mineral rocks of sodium chloride, clinging to the rim like Shaq dunking on a 5′ high-school student. Makes no sense. Then, as you try and wipe the salt off, the majority of your NaCl falls helplessly and hopelessly into the depths of your deep-sea green refreshment, much the same way as Titanic passengers… floating for a while… bobbing…then never to be seen again. I try and not complain, even though my table now looks like a «Steve Spangler» experiment gone awry and everything is covered with semi-wet, sticky salted crystals and my drink tastes like the Bonneville Salt Flats. I can always forgive a mistake. We all make them. We get busy; we don’t pay attention, we have other priorities, it happens. What gets me? When the same mistake happens twice, as in again. Fast forward to El Senior Sol, meeting some friends for drinks and an appetizer. You guessed it, we both ordered the house margaritas, on the rocks, no salt. Our server even echoed our request, «No salt?» And then, just like David Copperfield, whoa-la! They appeared, saltier than Russian Caviar. I scraped, cleaned, flicked, wiped as best I could, but to no avail. Salt everywhere, especially inside the cocktail. Now, every pull from my straw resulted in that scratchy dry feeling in your throat with each swallow. Making me, you guessed it-thirsty. Luckily the conversation, company and mound of nachos in front of me were all wonderful. So, we ordered another Margarita.(See pet peeve(again)).
