Express Heating & Cooling

I came home from work today to find I did not have any heat. It is –5 outside and after 6pm and I figured I was in for a rough night. I called 12 companies and no one had openings for the next 3 days. I normally like to research contractors but at this late hour I was desperate. I found Steve’s number on Unilocal and called him on his way home. He agreed to come over and arrived at my house within 30 minutes. He found the problem quickly, had the parts to fix it and gave me tips on how to maintain my system. Steve was pleasant and very knowledgable. My family and I are very grateful to have found our new heating contractor! Great service!

I found Steve’s information on a Park Hill FB page where someone had referred him, and I called the first time in a panic in the middle of winter when my furnace stopped working and it was freezing temps outside. He was not only very accommodating getting to me as soon as he could, but also gave me pointers on what I could try to do on my own in the future and good home maintenance tips.
Since then, Steve has come to my rescue twice again to fix my AC over the summer. He’s always great about explaining what needs to be replaced and why.
I have Steve saved on my phone, and highly recommend him!

Shady businesses like these should not be polluting our community. This guy is a scam and I am surprised he gets good reviews. Frankly I am offended that I trusted the reviews on here and Unilocal,I have been let down. It is likely friends and family giving these reviews. Now that I signed up for Angie’s List I see he is not even on there.
I hired him to set up my swamp cooler since we never had one before (now I realize how simple), he told me he would even show me how to do it myself, which I thought was great (also meant he had someone to do half his work. His quote was double what I heard from others but he was able to show up the same day, which I needed so that was great. Instead of using the already installed water line, he ran a plastic line which hung over the roof and side of the house without using tie downs or attempting to make it presentable and attached it using a valve over my rear outside faucet, making it sound like water was constantly running and I was no longer able to use the faucet. For that, without asking permission he added $ 50 to the bill, did I mention, he needed to use my tools to get this done!!! He had no problem taking advantage of an unemployed Veteran, so I have no problem saving others from his scam. He was really friendly but seemed to lack true knowledge of systems. I get that is what you get from a guy who simply wanted his own company because he didn’t like working for other, rather than passion for what he does.
I actually had to climb on the roof to remove the hose he ran, and the water line that was already here works just fine.
I was upset by the transaction, but since he was nice, I called to ask for him to honor the original quote and refund the $ 50 (which I did politely), and wouldn’t you know… just like any scam artist, he won’t return calls.

Steve has serviced 4 different homes that my wife and I have owned or lived in over the last 6 years. He’s always helpful, knowledgable and prompt. I’d highly recommend Steve for any of your HVAC needs.

Called Steve @ 11 AM when my furnace wasn’t working. He was here within 30 minutes. Part replaced and up and running in a very short time. Gave good advice on things to help with airflow and general maintenance. Was extremely polite, helpful, and i WILL use him for all of my heating and AC maintenance going forward. Highly recommended!

Steve came by the house to get our furnace working, it ended up being something very simple. What I appreciated was that he showed me everything about my furnace and walked me through a lot of scenarios. He showed me ways to keep my furnace clean and in good working condition. Steve was polite, helpful and took extra time to teach me things.
He also arrived quickly. He could have offered to replace this or that, but was very honest about what I really needed.

We woke up at 5:00 am realizing the house was frigid cold. We tried trouble shooting, but nope our old gravity furnace was not working. Since it was so early, I tried calling a big name company — one of those advertised quick response companies — hoping to have immediate service. When the technician came out over three hours later, he took one look at my furnace and informed me that my furnace was so old that they couldn’t work on it and «no reputable company would work on it» so we would have to replace it. Then the technician turned off the gas (but we found out later that he actually turned off the wrong valve, leaving the gas on). I asked him to give me a ballpark figure and was told approximately $ 5,000 and several days of work. Well that wasn’t an option, so I called Steve at Express Heating and Cooling.
Steve has been working on maintaining my swamp cooler for years and has always done a great job. Realizing I wanted someone I could trust, I called Steve and told him my problem. He was at my house within 20 minutes, and immediately knew how to fix the problem. He had to go get some parts (I do have an old furnace) and spent four hours fixing things up perfectly. He even made sure my hot water heater was still working fine after turning back on the gas and relighting the pilot lights.
Of course I realize now I should have called Express Heating and Cooling first. He’s the guy I trust, who won’t bullshit me with inaccurate advice or try to up sell me something I don’t need. His prices are reasonable, is service is superb and so is his knowledge. I’m so happy I found Steve and will use him always!!!

Hi Steve, while I am truly sorry that you feel demeaned and insulted by my questioning your aptitude for this kind of work. I feel I must tell you that I called another company on that same hot week, They ran a die test, came back and fixed the problem for a total of $ 400. Them 2 trips, $ 400. You 4 trips (including countless wasted hours of my work time), $ 600. I still contend that I never demeaned you or insulted you. I simply asked if it was logically possible to conclude that you were scamming me after three visits for the same problem. Judging from what I have seen from this other company, it would appear that you were. You can whine about my behavior all you want. But the bottom line is that my experience with this other company has either exposed your ineptitude or fraud. Whichever it is makes no difference to me. I am just happy to have my unit working properly for a fair price, something you were incapable of providing for whatever reason. I am just trying to do right by my fellow consumers with my poor review of your performance.

Steve is the man. He’s prompt, tidy and very knowledgeable. Basically our furnace stopped blowing heated air and we had absolutely no idea how to fix the issue. I called him in the morning, he came to our house within two hours and after about half an hour had our heat working no problem. He then checked all of our components to make sure they were working properly and optimized our system for high altitude. He walked us through how to keep the house warmer with less energy use and all for under a hundred dollars. I will definitely be calling him again for any further issues.

Our furnace went out and was only blowing out cold air. So I searched around the yellow pages and found Steve. I saw many 5 star customer reviews and also had a Gold rating by the Better Business Bureau so I gave him a try. I was trying to avoid any big companies since they usually have higher over head costs and Steve is a one man job.
He came within an hour of calling and even help me set up my thermostat for the best settings for winter and summer to save me the most money. He could have easily have just fixed my furnace and left but he actually took the time to tell me what happened to my furnace and also gave suggestions on how to save more money on my heating and cooling bills by insulating areas of the vents. He even stayed to make sure that the furnace was operating properly. He’s a very nice guy and was more then willing to take the time to explain what he was doing and why the furnace stopped working. I told him I would put him on Unilocal so many other Unilocalers can see this.
