Chop Chop Bang Bang

Thank you for giving me a blow out. I know I have thick hair, but I always get a bit annoyed when the person styling my hair makes it like it’s a big inconvenience for them to be doing my hair. I don’t want to have to apologize for my hair or hear comments like «Wow, you really need a haircut. You have so much hair.»

Steven did such a beautiful job on my curly hair! (I’m somewhere between a 3A and 3B on the curly hair types chart.) The last cut I got before coming to Chop Chop Bang Bang was a DevaCut out in California, which I loved, but I couldn’t find a DevaCurl stylist here in the area when I needed to get it cut again. Even with the minimal direction I gave Steven about what I was looking for, he was able to give me a cut that really gave my wavy/​curly hair body and volume while somehow managing to keep most of the length intact as well. It was more economical in terms of both time and money than the DevaCut too. Really impressed! I don’t often get many compliments about my hair when I just wear it natural but I’ve gotten a bunch since my haircut here. Will definitely be back!

Last! I highly recommend this place. Steven did my hair. I told him he could do whatever he wanted to do and I was not disappointed at all. Steven did a cut and color and it’s amazing. The best cut and color I have had ever. I am spreading the word. You have to go to Chop Chop Bang Bang!

Came in for hilights and Cassie worked on my hair. I am so pleased with my new look. Loved her technique and I completely felt comfortable. The owner really educated his stylist to perform to the max. The shop is clean and very hip. I would recommend everyone to get their hair done here and ask for cassie. Thank you for such a great experience.

After a sleepless red-​eye from Seattle, I looked dreadfully disheveled, and needed a haircut as I was en route to a very serious family event. This place reminded me of Bishops or Rudy’s (my go-​to shops in Portland/​Seattle), so I gave it a shot. Steve took me as a walk in even though they were busy — just 15 minutes later I was in his chair and we were talking music and travel and I was getting a great haircut that took care of all my worries.
Many thanks to Steve and his crew for making time for me and being so friendly and welcoming to this stranger from the west coast. Awesome shop — highly recommended to anyone looking for a great cut in Asbury Park.

This was such a fantastic first experience. I have just recently moved to the area & hadn’t had a hair cut in 6 months. On the recommendation of my girlfriend I called the shop to set up an appointment. After speaking to the receptionist and explaining that I wanted to make sure someone who had previous experience with thick curly hair is needed (way too many bad experiences) she set me up with Steven (who I later found out owned the shop). My appointment was at 1pm on a Sunday. I walked in nervous but my girlfriend reassured me (like every 5 seconds) that I was in DESPERATE need of a haircut & this was the place to get the best cut… let me tell you she was right. From the moment I stepped into the shop I felt comfortable. Steven was so easy to talk to & work with. He really listened to me & could sense my nerves. I let him cut it how ever he wanted, 2 hours later, I felt so pretty. I have never had someone take so much time with a cut. I receive compliments daily at the gyms I work at — seriously daily. I will be going back & I believe my girlfriend will be getting her hair done there as well. Thank you Steven for being so good at what you do & a good human…

Excellent! I have very long hair and I don’t get my hair cut often BUT Steven is amazing. He listens to what you want and takes his time, just like an art. He made suggestions based on what would look best with my type of hair and face shape– I usually am very wary and don’t trust alot of stylists but my hair came out awesome and I’m definitely coming back :)

Had a great experience in here. Very talented group of people in here, and on top of that — they listen to you. Steve — such a nice, down to earth guy. Lauren — I didn’t have to explain too much, and she just understood and did great job. I’ve recommended these guys two a few friends and no one has been disappointed — just the opposite… rave reviews. Great talent, great service. I now have a «place» again.

This salon exceeds all of my expectations! Lauren is great & gave me the right advice on what would work best for my hair. She really listened to what I wanted and was able to make all the right suggestions. I’ve had multiple hair colors/​styles done by Lauren and have never been disappointed. I turned out to be a good candidate for hair extensions and I’m so glad I went for it. They turned out AMAZING and she really took the extra time to teach me how to care for & style them properly. I have never had hair this nice ever in my life! Everyone at the salon is nice and friendly so I always feel comfortable while I’m there. I will definitely be back :)

I would recommend this place to anyone. I work crazy hours so its hard for me to find a place that’s open when I’m free. The owner (super chill guy) stayed open late just to hook me up. One of the best cuts I’ve ever gotten. Anyone who hates on this place is just hating for the sake of hating. HIGHLY recommend.

I went to Chop Chop Bang Bang after seeing a Groupon for them. I got my hair cut by Stephen and it was honestly the best hair cut I ever received. I forget the name of the girl who colored my hair (sorry!!!) but she was very nice and helped me pick a color that I love to this day. The whole salon was great and everyone who I spoke to was funny and interesting and it was just a great experience. I hope they offer more Groupons in the future!

What a scam, this salon is posting a ad on Groupon, and I went to purchase one for my daughter (who is 14), I called to make an appointment, and the reservation person said that they would not take a GROUPON from anyone under 18, yet they would cut hair of people under 18. So it was fine if I paid fullprice.
I asked to speak to the owner, and he said «I would prefer not to have people under 18 in my shop»… Just seems like a huge scam, and we will never do business with them agian.
Be careful using them, and be Warned that they dont like people under 18 in their shop, and that was from the owner himself!!!

The people that work there are really nice. The hours the shop is opened is accomadating for most people. The shop is clean. The haircuts are decent. And I can get all of this of way less money. Haircuts start at $ 60.00? They have to be nuts or they do not want to stay in business too long. Here they are in the middle of a shooting range and they are charging $ 45 – 50 more then most haircuts in the area. If they were all that, fine. But they are not even a full bag of chips. Only the rich can afford to go here and the rich are not walking emory street in asbury park.

This is a great shop recomended by my cousin. I was happy at my old salon so it was hard for me to switch but I’m glad I did because Stephen takes it to another level and the whole staff is really great and super friendly. Been going to Chop Chop a while now and never looked back.
