Missing Link Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is not high on my list of fun stuff, but at Missing Link with Andre I actually look forward to going. He is using a variety of modalities on me, none of them tortuous. In the past I have had physical therapists put me in tears trying to force movement that isn’t there. Andre works within my existing boundaries, and I am getting more mobility rapidly. Andre himself is the kindest man, very compassionate and funny and fun to hang out with. There is none of that fake sympathy stuff I have been fed before, which was always accompanied by PAIN. Andre works with me to accomplish my goals, and never shames me for «not being far enough along.»
I have a frozen shoulder and after just a month I have much more movement. The venue itself is immaculate, calm and peaceful and surprisingly upbeat. 50’s crooners are likely singing over the speakers! Andre works with me one-​on-​one, not with a group of patients hopping from patient to patient. That alone is unique. I cannot sing his praises high enough, to be honest. Nua, the front desk assistant is delightful, and very efficient. I love Missing Link!

I went to Kur a few weeks ago for a bike fitting and I was really impressed with all the measurements and tools he used to fit me on my ride. During the session Kur hooks your bike up to a computrainer machine which varies the pedaling resistance and measures your pedal stroke, power, and efficiency. You then go through a series of pedaling drills to measure different aspects of your riding technique and position. It was interesting to see how my pedaling efficiency and power changed with each pedaling drill. He then gives you tips on how to improve your technique and you can immediately feel and see the difference on screen. Kur tweaked just about everything on my bike helping me improve my overall comfort and pedaling efficiency. Afterwards he had me do a few stretches and looked at areas of my body that I listed on my pre-​fitting questionnaire as issues. He did a few PT tests and gave me a few exercises to help with muscle weaknesses. You definitely get way more than just a fitting with Kur. He is very thorough and points out things that a bike shop fitting would not because of his PT background.

I’ve been having elbow pain on and off for almost 8 months and it got to the point where I couldn’t lift weights and play sports. As an athlete it was hard to perform my best due to having this strong pain, I couldn’t do certain exercises for my training to get better.
So I went to see Kur Sohn and he put me through standard protocols and had me fill out basic forms and asked me basic questions. Long story short, it’s been almost 2 months since I’ve seen him and I have little to no pain on my elbows. Kur got me right. He did everything he could to get me better from treating me, recommending me with PT exercises, and getting me a good recommendation on a brace to prevent from further injuries.
Kur knows his stuff and he makes sure you’re taken care of. He has a passion to help others and it shows it by his follow ups after my session with him.

I came here for a bike fitting with Kur. I’ve one other fitting on this same bike past, but I was curious as to what if any changes could be made.
I thought Kur’s fitting was unique because he is a physical therapist. He used that background to not only adjust my bike, but also explain my pedaling tendencies and pinpoint muscle weaknesses (I have weaknesses?!).
He used various technologies during the fitting which gave a fresh perspective on how my body moves when I ride. And the CompuTrainer stats were eye-​opening! Turns out my left leg is longer than my right which caused my left side pedal harder (who knew?!). It also showed I was powering too early in my pedaling motion. As for my gimpy right leg, I appreciate that Kur didn’t feel it was necessary to implement corrections if I wasn’t feeling any discomfort. But now I more aware if something does come up.
Minor tweaks were made to my shoes and I’m excited to test out all out. And I guess since he is a physical therapist he couldn’t help but leave me with a list of strengthening exercises
Getting a proper fitting is very important because it can make or break a long ride. You’ll be amazed at how big of a difference a small tweak can make. I highly recommend coming here for your fitting needs!

I’ve been seeing PT Kur Sohn for back and neck issues related to my scoliosis and likely just horrible posture. The great thing about seeing Kur is that he spends one-​on-​one time on you for an hour. Unlike most PT sessions at other locations, they really take time to treat you and educate you in how you can not only heal from current pain /​injuries, but prevent by strengthening your problem areas. Several times, I’ve gone in to see Kur with a neck that wouldn’t turn from a horrible night’s sleep. Kur massaged the problem areas and did some dry-​point needling (weirdest but coolest thing ever to see your muscles twitch), and also recommended the best pillow ever which has changed my life and the way I sleep. Really impressed by the style of treatment here. Never saw Andre but am looking forward to a session with him as his reviews sound pretty awesome too. It’s a bit pricier than other insurance covered locations, but honestly, when I need to see a PT, it’s because I am desperate and cannot function properly. So I’d rather go to a place that really spends time to address your issues and treat you right there than a place that spends very limited time with the patient for less money. My two cents!
