I was about to head to Party City in Leesburg to buy my daughter a costume when I remembered we had Party Depot in Ashburn so I came across the reviews which vary pretty wildly but PD sells costumes so I decided to check it out. So my daughter and I walk in and not a soul is visible in the store. We walk around for a few minutes and there is a young man with headphones on unpacking boxes and he didn’t seem remotely interested in us and for a second I wasn’t even sure he worked there, I thought maybe he was a delivery person as he wore no name tag, just a plain white t-shirt and jeans. Anyway, my daughter wanted to try on a costume and the young man had disappeared so I went walking through the store and finally I heard some noise up front. I found a young lady(Courtney) watching videos on her phone and she asked if I needed to check out. I told her I needed to see a costume and she said the young man could help me. So I found him and he took his headphones off, got the costume, and went to another part of the store. The costume didn’t fit so I had to walk around for 5 minutes to find him again. Once again, the headphones come off and he looks annoyed. I asked for the next smaller size and he gets it. Again, he disappears. I needed something from a top shelf and asked if he had a hook that I could use to get it down and he said he would get it. Poor guy had to bring out an 8ft step ladder to get it… and he wasn’t happy about it. We felt totally unwelcome in the store and the place was dead empty the whole time we were there, probably 20 minutes on a Tuesday night at 7 pm. Two things strike me: This place will not be in business long with service like that and Marcia S. must be related to one of the staff members.

If you enjoy poor customer service and being abused by college dropouts whose hourly wages match their IQ scores then come here. I walk through the door, two employees are standing by chit chatting and don’t bother to say a simple«hello, welcome to our store». Fine, I shrug it off and go about looking for the supplies I need. I walk over to check out and ask to have my pre-bought balloons blown up. She told me it would cost $ 0.59 to fill up each balloon which is RIDICULOUS, I paid $ 0.50 for each balloon at Partyco in Annandale(p.s. go there instead!!) I agree to pay because, again, I need to get other things done today. She goes over to fill up the balloons and I’m standing in one of the aisles waiting. The assistant manager, Michael(aka, one of the non-greeters) needs to pass by me, instead of saying professionally, «excuse me, maam», he just stands there waiting for me to move. What are we, in high school!!! Oh wait, he probably flunked out so his behavior hasn’t changed since then… Here’s the kicker, after my balloons are being finished up, Michael saunters over and asks me where I bought the balloons? He then tells me that they’re «TOOSMALL», he repeats this several times SHAKINGHISHEAD, «yeah, those balloons are too small, too small». In my head I’m screaming, «It’s NONEOFYOURBUSINESS!!!» There are so many families with children in Ashburn, it’s too bad this is the only party supply store close by. Go elsewhere for your party supplies, what a terrible impression poor employees make for a whole store chain…
