The place is beautiful inside, particularly the bar area. The cocktails and our server were great too. I ordered the hibachi chicken and the chicken was rubbery and had a flavor and smell best described as «off.» I’m sure it was bad. Or badly freezer burned? Anyways, I had my bf try it to confirm before hailing the manager who kindly swapped it for shrimp. The breading was flavorless falling off. The shrimp itself? Also bad. I boxed it up to take along with me and try again later as we were in a rush to get to DC, we ended up having to stop off 66 because it made my bf sick. :( The good reviews seem to come from the sushi.

I love Passion Fin – I’m actually surprised I hadn’t already written a review of this place! We come here pretty frequently and the sushi is always awesome. The service is great too! This has been my favorite sushi place in Loudoun county. Some of my favorites are the Temptation, Redskins, and Passion roll, though I haven’t been disappointed yet.

I have been here few times for a sushi. Me And my husband has a recent visit for dinner and we loved the service and a great sushi. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is calm, not hectic even the place was full. Try it if you love seafood. It was delicious.

Hands down — the best sushi and Asian style restaurant in Loudoun. Highly recommend lobster miso soup, dragon roll, spicy shrimp roll and their pot sticker appetizer. Great lunch specials — its where my wife and I go for lunch when we are having a date day. Staff so nice, greet everyone, the owner gets to know you and genuinely cares about her customers. Cant say enough good things!

Came here for the first time on Wednesday night to eat some dinner. Me and my boyfriend ordered the crab wonton appetizer, passion roll, sunrise roll, shrimp tempura roll, and salmon shashimi. The crab wontons were so crispy with a warm inside filling of the crab and cream cheese. The sushi was probably some of the best sushi I’ve had. Very good service and great quality food with a nice atmosphere.

We ordered several items as we were out celebrating a special occasion, and wanted to commemorate it with some good food, but couldn’t decide on one thing specifically. We started with the chicken lettuce wraps which were… Well, they were different. They weren’t like the customary lettuce wraps we’re accustomed to getting at most Asian joints, and quite honestly while they didn’t taste bad still weren’t good. We would not order them again. For the entrée, we ordered two«sushi» rolls — Chicken tempura and angel roll, and two dishes — Chicken drunken noodles and katsu pork. The sushi was awful. Not only that, but the order was messed up when initially delivered to our table. We got shrimp tempura instead of chicken. The server noticed this as soon as she put the plate down, and removed it immediately. She acknowledged the problem, fixed it, and then took the chicken ones off the bill — All without a word from us. In that regard, service was great. But, back to the sushi itself. Imagine unseasoned fried chicken thrown on top of unseasoned steamed white rice. Sound pretty bland and boring, huh? That’s exactly what this sushi roll was. Bland, and boring. Flavorless even. The other roll went to the other end of the spectrum, and had too much in it. The flavors didn’t come together in unison, but rather fought with each other for dominance. Additionally, the butt ends of the rolls were also served, and they are a horrendous nightmare both in size, and presentation. There’s a reason that most sushi chefs cut the ends off and discard them. Sadly, I would not order sushi from Passion Fin in the future. It just wasn’t good. As for the hot dishes, they were fantastic. I’d return for those alone. The katsu pork was crispy, and the sauce it came with was great. I actually ended up dipping my tempura chicken sushi roll in it, and that made it quite good in a, «Hey, now they taste like this sauce,» kind of way. Perhaps the manager should consider serving that particular roll with a side of that sauce. The drunken noodles were perfect. Big thick noodles, and delicious blend of sauce that wasn’t too spicy, and a great vegetable medley to bring it all together. It was probably the best thing on the table. Service was great. As I said above, the server acknowledged the problem, admitted it was her fault for putting in the wrong order, then took it off the bill after correcting it. Mistakes happen, but it’s good to see said mistake be owned up to, and an effort made to relieve the customer of the inconvenience as best as possible. In addition, drink glasses were consistently refilled, and mind you I emptied about six water glasses just to myself. I would return to Passion Fin for the katsu pork and drunken noodles, but sadly can’t say the same for the sushi or appetizer we had. Perhaps a different appetizer next time, but not that particular one.

This was Mat and my first experience at Passion Fin. He thought the food was outstanding– he had a ton of sushi and a Godzilla roll which was presented extraordinarily– complete with LED lights and an oak tree limb. I had a huge pile of chicken– I thought it was going to be spicy(it was marked spicy on the menu) but it was not at all– it was on the sweeter side. Ugh. Anyhow– cool place– super clean and our server was very sweet. He will come back– I won’t be in a hurry to return.

— Great lunch special — 2 rolls for $ 8.95, 3 for $ 12.50. Includes miso soup or salad. — Have always found their fish to be fresh and delicious. Salmon avocado roll is my absolute favorite! — Their speciality rolls are more expensive but they are worth it. Highly recommend the Sunrise and Sunset rolls. — Service is great, though depending on how busy they are, it can take quite a while to get your sushi. — Look out for coupons/discounts in mailers if you’re an Ashburn local. Side note, I find the quality and taste of the fish better here than at the Mosaic District location in Vienna(though I’ve only visited there once for dinner.)

Not sure what my date ordered, but everything we ordered(raw) was good, Had a shashimi plate of rock fish, snapper, salmon, white tuna and it was all very fresh and tasty — and I never ask for shashimi anywhere I go! We had two specialty rolls that were amazing, definitely some of the best sushi I have ever had in NOVA

My sisters and I usually come here when we are craving some sushi so I’ve been here plenty of times. Their appetizers are overpriced considering the quantity, and their calamari is extremely underwhelming. But when it comes to their sushi, I don’t have many complaints. The fish is fresh and their fish to rice ratio and size of their rolls is much better than most sushi restaurants. I really don’t like that you have to pay for the miso soup when it usually comes with your sushi at other restaurants.

I really liked this place, the sushi is delicious. I wish that I had more date nights with my wife to go here. My favorite is the Redskin roll. I was really pleased when they were able to get a table for us on Valentine’s night when we stupidly neglected to make a reservation.

We may have found our new favorite sushi place! –Miso soup: great –House salad: perfect, IMO. I like my salads drenched and this had plenty of dressing, not too much but may be for some tastes. My dad got some kind of appetizer that was like a fried dough that you dip in some curry & honey type of sauce… had he told me it was curry before I tried it, it wouldn’t have happened but he told me as I was taking a bite and I have to admit, even for curry… it was extremely tasty! Now onto the sush… I tried the lobster roll and honestly really didn’t like it. It had a metallic taste to it and was very off putting, but the other three rolls we tried were phenom! My other roll was Passion and I. LOVED. IT. It was crispy but not too much and so tasty. The fiancé got the Godzilla and that was incredible. He got another roll that we both loved but I can’t remember the name. The spicy mayo sauce that I love dipping sushi on the side in was perfect. One of our other places makes it very watery and I don’t like it at all, and it’s my favorite part about sushi.

from: ladies that lunch** I was here once before and had an enjoyable enough time to come back again. two of us visited at the tail end durring the weekday for lunch. first — 5 stars for the asian pear tini second — 3 stars for the balance of the experience. the two of us were ‘being good’ so i ordered a naruto roll(cucumber wrapped around some sort of raw fish) and they had made this for me on the last visit even though it is not on the menu. a bit of confusion with the server this time on what fish to include — but we settled on salmon, tuna and surimi(faux crab) and my lunch partner in crime had the seared tuna appetizer. we had miso and clear broth soup and seaweed salad(can never help myself… oy!) we opted to sit in the bar area at a high-top table as this was the best seats available when we arrived to a very very crowed restaurant. service was really good, the plates were very pretty. my cocktail… so good. when we arrived the dining room was 95% completely filled but as soon as it hit 1:30ish…crickets except for us. by 2:15…the staff was eating their meals and by 2:45…some of the staff was stretched out on the banquettes for what i presume was down-time and a quick nap before the dinner service. no… really…they were napping. i didn’t check if the restaurant was actually closed between lunch and dinner. we never felt rushed or that the staff wanted us to close the check and leave. — maybe because i ordered another tini! anyways — this is a decent enough spot. pretty plating and on both visits the service was really accommodating. two sashimi type dishes, salad, three glasses of chard and two tinis…$ 105 including tip **for lunch — the menu selections are slightly smaller and the service is way better than akira, but you may pay a higher premium for this.

I have now gone twice and have now confirmed that this is a legit sushi establishment. I know they aren’t Japanese but the food is well prepared, great portions, cool atmosphere and wonderful service. Last time, I went with the Chirashi and the dish came out in a cool glass bowl with a bed of sushi rice was topped with excellent and fresh fish for a very reasonable price. Their presentations are whimsical and creative. Kind of bothered me that the waiter did not know that pork cutlet is called tonkatsu. If you’re going to act like a Japanese restaurant, you should at least know the real dish names. Second trip, we had the tempura appetizer, which was fried to perfection. Most places don’t know how to delicately fry tempura batter, often turning out to be like beer batter, caked on haphazardly and it becomes doughy. Not so here at Passion Fin, the shrimp is crisp, ever so flaky tempura batter, fried expertly and presented very well. My only complaint is that when you serve tempura, you must have a larger bowl for dipping into the tare. Two of us ordered the Platter Boat, #2. Along with an assortment of nigiri sushi, this boat had two Special Rolls and sashimi. I’m usually not a fan of gimmicky rolls but this particular one, Empire Roll had REAL crab meat and asparagus in the filling. Tasted awesome. The Tuna Lover Roll wasn’t quite as good with spicy tuna pasted on top and tuna in the center. The spicy wasn’t spicy enough for that wow factor and it kind of left something to be desired as a roll. Otherwise, our waiters were attentive, polite, courteous and prompt with our glasses and tea so I would most definitely recommend Passion Fin in the fringes of Ashburn.

I came to Passion Fin and sat at the sushi bar, which I’ve never done before. And I was excited when one of the sushi chefs gave us a sample plate of fried white fish beautifully decorated. I’m not sure if this is standard when you sit at the bar or not, but it could be because there was a bit of a wait after we put in our order. Everything was delicious, artfully created/presented, and tasty. And the ambience is cozy and modern at the same time. As for sitting at the bar, it seems like the go to spot for single parents with their kids. I’m not sure why, but there were three instances of that while we were there. So if you have kids and they have adventurous taste buds, this would be a great spot to visit and give them an experience by getting to sit at the sushi bar. It’s(well-behaved) kid-friendly on a weeknight, and the servers knew the families on a first-name basis. I wish my parents had taken me there as a kid for sure!

Passion Fin was A-OK. I had an enjoyable sushi dinner there. It took me a while to sort through the sushi menu. They’ve fallen in with the fad of «spicy» this and«spicy» that and putting either sri racha or mayo on almost EVERYTHING, which is fine if you are someone who LIKES sri racha or mayo on their sushi. I don’t. That being said, I did find the items on the menu that were more traditional, and I was very pleased with the taste and quality. Prices were fine — about average for a sushi place. Service was unenthusiastic and lackluster, but prompt and attentive.

Ever had sushi so good that it hits your mouth a wave of happiness, relaxation and a feeling of pure bliss washes over your body like a refreshing waterfall from an Irish Spring commercial? Not that you should shower in a waterfall. The pressure alone could cause harm, and I’m pretty sure that the waterbed is less than sanitary. But… Uhm, oh… where was I? Oh, yes! The sushi. THESUSHI! YES, BUYITALL, EATITALL! The unagi roll is freakin’ dream. Everything is nomworthy here. I’ve been here several times since discovering it, and it’s rekindled my love of sushi. Hands down, this is some of the best sushi I’ve had. Oh, and they have lobster miso soup! Big honkin’ chunks of lobster coupled with a rich miso broth. Amazing. There’s also a Harris Teeter next door if you decide you need some Irish Spring after experiencing the incredible majesty that is Passion Fin. Bottom line: Sushi so good it could make a Lannister lay down his sword.
