Don’t be fooled by first impressions. Spend your money with a company that offers customer service, returns calls and delivers as expected because this one does not. The details of our awful experience are below. But to summarize — overpriced, absolutely no customer service after they get the deposit and we are not pleased with what they guided us to purchase — we have rooms with way too much light because the coverings are too sheer. The only time they will call you is to ask for payment. As to the actual window treatments: I wish we had just put wood blinds in everywhere. We gave Frank photos of the rooms and the direction they faced. One bedroom has light pouring in from a streetlight because he guided us towards something way too sheer when closed. I’m not a fan of the solaras because they have to be up or down and do not open. The solara on the back door is crooked — not from the installation. It’s just not made straight. We met the owner, Frank, at a home show. Went to the showroom to order shades for the home we were closing on 2 weeks later. After placing our $ 8000 order they were supposed ship temporary blinds the following week and call to set up our measurement. Two weeks later we called to ask what happened and Katie said she ‘forgot’ about us. When I called her again she said ‘oh, i think my computer has a virus, I’ll have to call you back.’ but never did. Even in conversations where I explicitly said — you need to call me back, whether or not you have an update, call me back instead of leaving me not knowing what is going on. That didn’t work either. She never returns calls. It took a month to get the installer scheduled for the measurement. They would try to say, he can be there tomorrow, with no consideration for people having jobs. When the measurement was finally done, we were told to expect 2 – 3 weeks until installation. 3.5 weeks later I called Frank. He called back on a Tuesday and said someone would call on Friday regarding installation. Two Fridays passed and I called again. A few days later they called to say what day installation would be. Not to ask if it worked for us, just to tell us it was set. Wasted vacation day #1 — I waited around that day and called to ask when the installer was coming. They said they would get in touch with him and call back. Over an hour later they had not called. I found his number and called him directly. He said no one had called him in the last hour. He said no one ever confirmed the appointment with him so our house was not on his schedule. I called Value Blinds very upset at having wasted a vacation day. They were going to call back in 30 minutes. They did not. I called again and went to VM again. In the middle of my not nice message they finally picked up. I can only imagine they have an old school VM that was broadcasting my comments to those in the office otherwise they never would have picked up. They said Frank would call me. He never did. He was getting paid and didn’t care beyond that. During these calls they asked about payment. I told them we would discuss payment if/when they ever provided their service & product. Wasted vacation day #2 — The installer finally came. He was done & ready to leave when I asked where the last 3 shades were. He didn’t have them but hadn’t said a word about that. Katie had told me everything would be here except for the shutter. She had no idea he didn’t have them all. Wasted vacation day #3 Installer came back with 3 shades that were missing. The hardware to install was not in the box. Installer came back and finally installed the last 3. None of this was his fault. This was all Value Blinds and Hunter Douglas. So it took two months, $ 8000 and 4 vacation days to get window coverings installed. Rip off, huge headache, phone calls never returned, they put the blame on the customer and say how great their staff is. Be warned — go elsewhere.

Before buying from Home Depot or Lowe’s, checkout Value Blinds. I did and so glad I did. Prompt, knowledgeable, professional. service. I had a bit of a snafu with their installer yet was quickly resolved. Great old fashioned customer service.

Christa was helpful while she was here helping me make decisions on blinds. I really liked the suggestions she made. I would have purchased blinds from Christa had she actually called me back. I sent a text on Saturday she said she would be in contact. I sent a second text yesterday(Tuesday 5⁄19) and haven’t heard back as of Wednesday(5⁄20). Although I am just doing my basement(4 windows) for now there was potential for a lot of work as we want to replace blinds with cordless roman shades in our sunroom(9 windows), living room(4windows) and bedroom(4windows) as well. Looks like I will be calling the other company I got a quote from.
