First bed and breakfast experience set the bar very, very high! Terry and her family(including her awesome Golden Retriever Abby) were so friendly, down to earth, and went out of their way to make sure everything was great. The views were amazing from the backyard(even saw a baby deer). The Adirondack chairs and hammock were a great touch and we could have spent days sitting admiring the views. Charming bed /bath connected in the Wisteria Room where we stayed. You get the same view from the back deck as you do from that bedroom so it was an awesome wake up. Snacks and refreshments galore. The breakfast was awesome(fresh fruit, great coffee, unbelievable banana bread, and breakfast burritos(special of the day). We hiked Mt. Monadnock(closeby) during the day and what a relaxing way to cap the day. Tucked into a town many have not likely heard of(Ashburnham), it’s close to Wachusett Mountain and Monadnock for good hiking. Worth the trip, wish we could have stayed more nights, and can’t wait to get here again and spread the word until then!

Stumbled upon this charming B&B while spending a weekend at Wachusetts Mountain(approx. 20 minute drive). Only stayed for one night but immediately felt welcomed into the home with open arms by Terry and her family. The Wisteria Room had gorgeous views of the backyard and enough space to store luggage without feeling cramped. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and a fantastic way to kick off another day of skiing! Thanks for the hospitality Terry — We will most certainly be back soon!

I wrote a very long, detailed and heartfelt review on tripadvisor for this amazing and charming bed and breakfast. Basically I cannot wait to return, every aspect of our stay was perfect. We relaxed most of the day in their perfectly manicured lawn. Breakfast is one of the best parts! Yummy!

This B&B has exceeding my highest expectations, with their beautiful gardens, exceptional hospitably, comfortable/warm rooms and delicious breakfast. I stayed at the Rose Room, which had such a cozy feeling to it, and the view overlooking the lake is simply breath-taking. I can not remember sleeping that well in a very long time, I woke up very refreshed and ready for a delicious meal made by my amazing host, Terry. I would definitely recommend this Bed & Breakfast to any couple looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway. This place has set a new standard on all hotels and rooms I have or will stay at in the future. I was very lucky to go on a day with beautiful weather. I will indubitably be back here during my free time. I absolutely fell in love with this place and I am sure anyone who visits it will.

I have an unusually exacting standard for what a bed and breakfast should be. The problem is that my expectations are also pretty vague: if I had a dollar for every night I’ve spent at inns that are clearly lovable, but that I just didn’t love, I’d be staying in a suite at the Grand Hotel Europe. Fortunately, in the absence of clear-cut criteria for that«five star» place, I have the Maguire House to use as a benchmark. When you drive up Cobb Road in the small town of Ashburnham, MA to be greeted by a bounding golden retriever, it’s immediately clear that this B&B is a little bit different. For one thing, it’s not there out of convenience to a touristy area: when you visit the Maguire House, you are doing it on purpose. This is a huge advantage if you’re looking for some true R&R, and Terry provides enough fresh-baked treats to be content barely leaving the 18th-century oasis of her home. Between the beautifully curated collection of antique furniture, the lush goose down comforters, claw-footed bathtubs and innumerable extra touches(the towels, for example, are all perfectly coordinated with bedroom color schemes), it would be understandable if you never went outside here. When my husband and I didn’t feel like cross-country skiing last winter, a fire and complimentary glass of wine made this an appealing option. But during a recent June stay, we were scarcely in our room: the view is magnificent and I spent hours watching wild turkeys, woodpeckers and cardinals go about their daily routines. When it was time for a little more action, we took a rowboat out on the lake at the brink of the property. The water was peaceful and perfectly safe, but Abby(the golden retriever) kept watch over us just in case. It should come as no surprise that we will be going back to the Maguire House, though probably not in time to sate my craving for Terry’s lemon-blueberry scones. It is a place to bring friends, or a book, or your weekday stress, and lose it in the tranquility that connects New England’s past with your future getaways.

Such a wonderful place. Fantastic views, and a beautiful location. Terry and Paul are such great hosts. I wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else in MA. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, the beds are heavenly, and the breakfast is excellent. I’ve stayed a lots of B&Bs and this is absolutely top notch, none better.
