Big Jakes BBQ

On the road north through AR we came across Ashdown at lunch time. We didn’t feel like fast food, so we were glad to find Big Jake’s.
Diverse BBQ menu. 4 tasty sauces. Free pinto beans. Pretty good BBQ. It’s in a relatively new building and they have big screens on the walls. I got the pulled pork and smoked sausage. I also tasted their brisket. Definitely better than fast food. I liked their sauces, especially the sweet mustard sauce. Their other sweet and their original sauces were great. I did not try their hot bbq sauce.
Sides were good, especially their baked beans. Fries are fresh cut and the baked potatoes are huge.
4 stars b/​c it’s not great, sauces were above avg and it’s a great alternative to fast food in a small town.

I couldn’t find a lot online telling me what Ashdown had to offer. I left my hotel (Economy Inn) and just walked around, looking for something to eat. Most of downtown was closed around 6pm, so it took a bit! I came upon Big Jakes BBQ and was intrigued!
You stand in line to order kind of like a fast food joint, but you sit down and they bring your order to you when it’s finished. I selected a brisket meal. It was all delicious, but the brisket was the least delicious part of it. It was a little dry. The fries and macaroni were divine! The service was good and the environment was neat. If you find yourself in this odd town, I recommended it!
The parking was a little odd… a creepy dirt parking lot that was dark, and had a train track running through it.
