Some of the best and most authentic Thai I have had. Great family run business and excellent service. Never been with anyone who didn’t enjoy it.

I was there when this restaurant opened back in 2000, many of us attending RCC at that time were more than happy to see a Thai restaurant open up in Asheboro. At that time the food was excellent, service more than attentive and the atmosphere plenty fresh for a group of college kids. I would almost exclusively order the Tom Yum chicken soup and the Pla Ma Nao, tilapia with lime and garlic served in a sizzling plate. Business recently brought me back to Asheboro and I hadn’t forgotten about this place over the years. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday after the rush. I recognized a few faces from years back and the décor looked unchanged but still clean and inviting. I had forgotten how limited the lunch menu was, 5 items to close from. I decided on the green curry and soup. A small 3 in. fried spring roll appeared first, the skin crisp and the glass noodles and julienned vegetables cooked perfectly. Unfortunately this would be the highlight of the meal, the soup appeared and was basically an over seasoned broth with a few green onions mixed in. It was piping hot so I scarfed it down anyway. Next the green curry, presented well but a smaller portion than I remember. The sauce was thin and so salty I could barely eat it. The chicken was a bit overcooked and the peppers slightly so as well. The rice was good but it’s rice, right? Service was decent if not aloof, I got my check with the entrée, a pet peeve of mine. The traditional fortune cookie was included, also a pet peeve of mine for non-Chinese American restaurants. Two stars may be a bit harsh but having eaten here over 100 times previously I was really let down and left bloated and slightly depressed. Asheboro is growing up and Taste of Asia may soon see some competition, hopefully they will hold their own.

There’s not much to say other than this is such an awesome place to eat. The food is top notch and the staff are very friendly. If I hadn’t been up the past 20 hours straight, I would be on my way to Taste of Asia!

Nice to find good Thai food in the food desert, Randolph county! We always try Thai restaurants everywhere we go and have been to some that were just Chinese trying to be Thai. This seems to be the real deal. Salads come with dinner entrees. They come with the house dressing, which is peanut. This was the only thing we were not too crazy about. It wasn’t bad, but kind of bland. We ordered the cabbage salad, which was yummy. Tangy and garlicky, just as we like it. I ordered a tofu curry and green bean dish and hubby ordered the green curry with tofu. Food came out fairly quickly and was good. I wouldn’t say the best Thai food I have ever had, but definitely not the worst and we will be back to try some other dishes. They have a small wine list and offer a few beer selections also. So rejoice Asheboro, you have someplace a little different to check out. Go ahead broaden your horizons. I have found Thai food to be addictive!

Came here with the boy during a weekend trip to Seagrove(which is lovely, btw), and enjoyed the dinner but found it a little uneven. The service was attentive and the ambience is nice — it’s good for a low-key date night, for sure. We started with the Tom Ka Gai, a coconut soup, which was good but not stellar. We also ordered Pla Goong and Pla Rad Pick. I got a Thai Ice Tea. Pla Goong is sort of a spicy salad — it was a little spicy, but drowned in sauce, which completely overwhelmed any other flavors. Pla Rad Pick was by far the best dish, although my boyfriend wasn’t crazy about it — I thought it was delicious. spicy, fried very crispy, with good fresh vegetables and a nice sauce. The Thai Ice Tea was good as well; I haven’t found that in too many places around the triangle so I was pretty happy with it. Total bill was reasonable: $ 32.08 In conclusion, it was a nice and low-key dinner. The menu is extensive, and it might be worth coming back for some more mainstream dishes.

I stopped in for some fried spring rolls and some Pad Thai. I love Pad Thai and this dish did not disappoint. The signature Thai dish was zingy, the noodles were semi-firm and tasty, and the chicken, green onions, and bean sprouts were great. Tamarind sauce is hard to make right but it was just right. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Extra points for authentic food and an expansive menu. However, the rolls were fairly over-cooked and dried out, and the music was too loud. The ambience is that of a small strip-mall restaurant decorated in an Asian theme.

This place is astounding for the area. I grew up in Asheboro — a culinary wasteland — and was thrilled the first time I ate at Taste. It is run by a family whose matriarch is from Cambodia. The food is fresh and authentic. A few favorites: Larb, som tam(cabbage salad), all of the soups(there are two soup sections on the menu), Horapa, Pad Woon Sen, Yum Ma Kua, Graprao, sticky rice with coconut custard. LOVE this restaurant.

Good food including Thai dishes. Delicious and unusual, especially for Asheboro.
