One of the more interesting coffee venues that I’ve ever been to. While the coffee and snacks are of good quality(and would be boring to mention), its the«extracurricular» that makes this venue click. First, the Coffee X Change is located on Sunset Ave across the street from Wells Fargo and around the corner from Mike’s Chicago Style Hot Dogs(another great venue). During my first visit, there was a poetry reading after 6PM. I stayed for a while, listening to the poetry + singing of a particular support group that comes in every week. Truly a good feeling seeing folks having a good time, as well as having them welcome a complete stranger & visitor into Asheboro such as myself. Further, I was told the story of the ghost that apparently lives upstairs. His name is Harvey, and hearing the baristas tell the story of this urban legend is absolutely hilarious, as is quite intriguing. If you get the opportunity, ask about the legend of Harvey, the ghost. I was told that this location is possibly under new ownership. If true, I certainly hope that they don’t change the character of this venue too much. Every small town needs a coffee venue like this one, and I’m glad that Asheboro has a good one in The Coffee X Change.

Stood there waiting for some service for several minutes and not one employee showed up. One employee saw me and didn’t help me, she just went back to the kitchen. I’m going to just go home and make my own.

My office is close by so I walk down occasionally to grab a bagel and juice. Laid back atmosphere and great staff!

*The* coffee shop in Asheboro, from what I could see, but that’s not to say that they’re doing anything badly. We had a few fruit smoothies, and they were prepared freshly and with care.

We were in dire need of a good, hot cup of coffee since we camped out in cold weather the night before. Guy behind the counter expressed he was sooo tired. It was 10:30 am. That was a sign, we ignored it. Ordered 2 lattes and 1 mocha latte. Lattes had a very, very rancid, old burnt coffee taste, and we were able to take only 2 swallows and had to throw them away. The mocha was just as bad, with a cheap chocolate syrup flavor. We would definitely not recommend.

Gee, overpriced coffee and attitude in a town this small? The barista barely spoke a word, not even a hello. Latte was nothing special, next time will grab a cup from somewhere else
