We had late breakfast and enjoyed it very much. We sat at the counter because there were no booths available, but that was great because you could see the cooks and servers in action. It was very impressive and you knew all the food was being served hot and fresh. The eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes were excellent and the bjsquit and gravy were the best so far we have had in Asheville. I will be back without doubt!

We walked in at 10:15am, waited about 10 minutes for a table, completed our meal by 10:45am. My husband loved his breakfast as he ordered the vegetable omelette wth spinach, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cheese. While I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, hash browns, and toast! It was a most tasty meal and we felt like we were locals as the server explained this dinner had two owners and has been open well over 40 years.

You know those family diners you see on TV but don’t seem to exist in real life? Well they do exist, and they’re right here. Visiting Asheville, my girlfriend and I wanted to go on a quest to find the best biscuits in the city. We finally found our answer at 5 points. The biscuits are made fresh and are so flaky and buttery. Worth a visit if for no other reason than to try the biscuits. We also had the omlettes and homefries and they were great. In summary, 5 points is a typical family owned diner drawing a hometown crowd, and serving above average biscuits.

Owner operated. Delicious food, friendly service. We walked past the free breakfast at the hotel and asked a friendly police officer were the locals ate. a little of the main path, but well worth the trip. Great place!

My family and I were visiting Asheville and this was right around the corner from where we were staying. I have a one-year-old so I was very hesitant to go out to eat in the first place. Soon as we got in there the waitress was super sweet and understanding that we were in a rush(eating out with a toddler is like a ticking time bomb). The food came out relatively quick however my son started screaming as soon as our plates arrived. What blew my mind is the fact that the woman that was hosting offered to hold our son and occupy him so we could finish our meal. Never in my life have I been made to feel more comfortable while dining out with my child then I did at five points. For diner food everything tasted great nothing from my order was missing and they were even nice enough to give us all to go coffees since we had to rush out the door. If we are ever back in Asheville we will 100% be stopping by this restaurant again.

I’ve never been for anything except breakfast… but they’ve definitely been nice and cooked me breakfast after they stopped serving it. The service is always really good, really fast, and everything I’ve had is delicious. It’s pretty standard fare… I recommend the potatoes for sure, but I might not say it’s super imaginative. But really… it’s pretty cheap, really quick, and delicious. I’ve been there a ton of times because it’s always reliable.

Stayed up the street from here on our stay in Asheville. Every morning I would walk outside and smell something delicious. On the last morning of our stay we decided to follow my nose. So glad we did. The food was fantastic. The people were great. The price was wonderful. I got the farmers omelet with a biscuit and potatoes. It was so big, I gave half to my husband! This place reminded me of diners from CT. I couldn’t be happier. Next time we come, we will skip the tourists breakfast spots and just come here!

you can’t do better than a diner that knows how to do it, the menu for breakfast must have 40 egg dishes and dinner(which they just started servicing till 7 pm on weekdays is really long. So long I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what to eat… A big tip of the hat to Theresa who took care of me, and the whole staff. as was indicated in Kristina w. review, if you are looking for the perfect local dive… this is the place… I would never hesitate to eat here… you won’t be disappointed.

classic diner food and experience sums up this place. the staff here move at a breakneck speed but thats not to say they do a rush job or the food is bad. if you like eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, biscuits and gravy, pancakes etc.(i mean if you don’t umm) this is the spot. As a new yorker that considers brunch at the diner standard at least one morning/afternoon per weekend, five points is a little slice of home in lil ‘ol AVL. if you’re tired of the wait at sunny point(no disrespect intended, theres a reason there’s a wait #shrimpngrits) give five points a try. go on sat. or sun. morning for the true experience –p

Perfect if you’re looking for a local dive. Typical Diner/Greasy spoon. I was a huge 5 points fan until I witnessed the owner reprimand his staff, in front of the lunch crowd. Yes, we all heard him. No, I haven’t returned. I’ve had several things on the menu. The shrimp basket is good, huge portions. The club sandwich is good lunchtime fare. The veggie omlet is the only breakfast food I’ve tried, pretty good. I would prefer the veggie omlet at Happy Jack’s.

Wow! This is my new favorite Asheville diner. This quick service, off the beaten path restaurant makes a great breakfast. This isn’t a slow paced meal though, they count on turning tables. The prices are very reasonable and the food is better than you might initially expect. That’s why this place is a locals only type spot that is consistently crowded. I had a spinach and feta omelette, which was spot on. It was a huge portion of eggs, with a healthy helping of spinach and feta cheese, definitely not a disappointment. The potatoes were a little undercooked in my opinion but tasty non the less. The bacon was crispy and delicious. I was really impressed they had seeded rye bread, a personal favorite. If you want a quality classic diner style breakfast this is the place. It was a quality meal, reasonably priced and obviously popular with the Asheville locals for a reason. If you want a quality breakfast for a reasonable price I don’t think 5 points can be missed.

This is our regular Sunday morning breakfast place. Great food, great service, huge portions and reasonable prices. We love to sit at the counter and watch the owner work the grill, he is the maestro of the flat top and spatula. If you plan on going, go early or expect a wait. This is primarily a locals place but is still busy.

5 points is an Asheville staple and classic. To call this place a greasy spoon is to discredit the tremendous amount of work this family owned establishment puts into their restaurant day in and day out. The prices are awesome. There’s hardly anything on the menu over $ 10. Lots of my friends head here for breakfast, but I feel like where they really shine is with dinner classics. Specifically, I’m enthralled with their meatloaf. Is there anything special or notable about their meatloaf? Is it infused with truffles, or contain veins of pancetta? No. It’s just the textbook definition of meatloaf. I feel that it is important to appreciate the classics. Other sure fire bets are anything on their specials board, the one above the cash register… you may miss it when you walk in. It’s chock full of greek specialties that are all delightfully well prepared. The service here is attentive, and will take care of you as soon as you seat yourself. Expect paper napkins, and to take your check up to the register once you’re done to be wrung up. This is a classic diner in every sense.

We were in town from Atlanta for SoCon Wrestling Championships and didn’t want concession food so we ventured out and were we ever glad we did! Obviously local folks cause it was packed but Louie and his crew if other Greeks turned it out(they were constantly calling orders out in Greek) quickly and spot in. Most were eating breakfast we had HUGE lunch of lemon soup, greek salad and sampler platter. They had just sold out if Moussaka so we had a choice of doubling either the pastistio or spanakopita or substituting spaghetti. Home town, homage Greek food and in and out in 40 minutes! Unbelievably good food for 2 under 30.00, we will be back for lunch next year. We snagged two stools at the counter and Ann Marie could not have friendlier and attentive.

If you at looking for the local diner choice in Asheville this is your stop. Nothing fancy just good local diner food Breakfast is simple and to the point. Biscuits and gravy are a great dish that is filling not too heavy. Eggs were light and fluffy Son had pancakes which were sweet and their syrup was thick and yummy. Service was great and seating as expected for a diner. A few tables and sitting at the bar with a view of the cooking extravaganza Parking is limited so car pool if you can and and don’t park in the Napa parking lot next door in fear of being towed If you are looking for a dive this is your place

This is a nice little breakfast and lunch joint that caters to locals. It’s a very, very good place. It’s nice in that every thing on the menu tastes exactly like you’d imagine it, and it always comes out the same. Nothing exotic here. They don’t cook anything challenging or weird. Always packed, very consistent, they keep pouring you nice cheap diner coffee all day long. Refills are free, of course. Only real complaint is they don’t salt their grits. No wonder so many people are always hatin on grits so much. Y’all gotta salt the hell outta them while they’re boiling, then they taste good. 5 Points still hasn’t figured this out. They’re probably closet Yankees. The amount of food they give you for the money is huge. You could eat all day long for 5 bucks. I have no idea how they stay in business. Try the ham biscuit. Not with grits. Spread some grape jelly on the ham. Take a bite. Take a swig of hot coffee. Yay! America! This is the life.

Not a lot to expound on, but this place is a great place for your garden variety breakfast. Eggs any way you like them, toast, sausage or bacon. The potatoes were a nice surprise since I usually need hashbrowns to be well done in order for me to enjoy them. These were soft potatoes and I was a little apprehensive at first, but they had amazing flavor. Service was spot on, coffee was nice and hot, and we got out of there for less than $ 10 a person with a ton of food devoured. That’s my kind of breakfast!

5 points is no 5 star. It’s basic and the food is hit or miss. I’ve had over medium eggs show up from almost liquid to hard enough to use in competitive frisbee matches.
