They have been located in downtown for 38 years. Carrying NC crafts, specializing in pottery. If you love pottery you will love this shop.

I bought fabulous earrings from App Craft Center several years ago.(There is a selection in the Renaissance Hotel as well as in their shop on Spruce Street) When I lost one of them, the Center helped me track down the artist and get it replaced. I was treated with generosity and care. Very few businesses today do business so well. Hats off to Appalachian Craft Center!

A hidden gem for pottery and other American functional art. If you are staying at the Renassaince Hotel or Sheraton Four Points or at the Asheville Community Theatre it’s right near you. Located on a small, quiet side street in downtown Asheville. Staff are so nice and no place can hold a candle to the selection of pottery here. Huge collection of pottery. All extremely reasonable in price. It looks small from the outside but once you enter it is very big. The nice lady working there we out of her way to recommend the best restaurants and gave us the info on which chef won which national award. On Spruce just a couple blocks off Broadway but seems a world away because the street is so quiet.

I love places like this that pull together the best that over 150 local artists have to offer, and then make it available in an easy to shop location. This place has it all…from jewelry, to pottery, to quilts, glassware, books and even locally made food items like jams and honeys. I was looking for something to remember my trip by so I wandered in on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately caught up in the spirit of the place. I ended up purchasing a necklace and earring combo but there were so many choices that it was difficult to just choose one! And if you like pottery– this originally started as a pottery shop(according to the sales person) so they have a large collection of that as well) The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the items that they carry. They also operate the gift shop in the Renaissance Hotel which is just behind the main store. Family owned, you can certainly tell that the owners love the Asheville area and the items that the local artists craft. If you live in Asheville– this would be a perfect place to purchase a bit of home to keep for yourself or to give to friends as gifts. And if you are a visitor– it’s a great place to find that perfect souvenir to remember your visit to Asheville!
