«A roller coaster experience in dining…» This much anticipated visit(based on online reviews) was definitely a roller coaster with both highs and lows leaving me with an overall neutral opinion of our dining experience. We arrived within 30 minutes or so of opening and were told a wait time of 30 — 40 minutes which turned into closer to 1 ½ hrs. plus. The service was well above average with the staff being attentive given that they were extremely busy. The Salade du Grand Père was either dressed so lightly or not dressed at all that one could only taste the greans, lardons and walnuts resulting in the salad to be a disappointment for both of us. My Truite aux Amandes was both amazing and mediocore with the trout being impeccable in taste, temperature and presentation but the accompanying fingerling potatoes and vegetables were lacking in flavor and were luke warm at best in temperature. My wife’s Steak au Poivre was cooked precisely to her order was by her account exceptional but was accompanied with the same nondescript vegetables. the Pommes Frites dusted with Herbes de Provençe & served with red pepper aioli were delightfully light, crispy and full of flavor. Desert again fell short with the the flour-less chocolate cake and chocolate mouse being a disappointment especially compared to what we encountered at another establishment in town.

What a fabulous meal in a great town! The waiter was well informed and friendly. The lobster ravioli was well excellent with a superb light cream sauce, really the best I have had. The steak au poive was tender and flavorful. Of course, the mussels were my favorite with lots of choices of sauces. A great fine, thanks to friendly and personable owner!

French coming for the fist time in Asheville I was looking for a restaurant for the evening. Surprising me to discover the Bouchon close to my hotel, I decided to go. I took pâté which is really French food and then the moules frites, everything was good and served in a French way, for sure the moules do not taste the ones from mont saint Michel bay, it can’t be! Nice place to go an have a good start discovering French food. Do not hesitate to take the more typical! Have fun

We lived 5 years near Lyon, France and this is the MOSTAUTHENTIC French restaurant we have been to in the states. Everything was excellent — steak au poivre, steak frites, gratin au chasseur, coquilles st jacques, grouper, escalope de dinde. And the desserts! They were all fantastic. We had a bottle of Vacqueyras with dinner which was excellent. And the service is spot on. Bön Appetit Y’all!

My dad and I came here for dinner on a rainy night and«French Comfort Food»(as their slogan goes) sounded like a good idea. It started off well. Their French onion soup and highly herbed fries were good. The beef bourguignon however was disappointing. Despite the large portion of beef, the meat was not very tender, was a bit dry, and overall the dish was light on flavor. There was no caramelization to the meat, my guess is they didn’t brown it first which makes a big difference in flavor. The lack of tenderness could be from not simmering it long enough. The menu said it included cipollini onions and there were none to be found; there were barely any mushrooms either. I liked the owner, who is legitimately French, and our server, Britt was cool. Plus, I was feeling the place prior to the bourguignon. I think this is one of those places where it depends on what you order. Right before leaving, I walked by something that smelled amazing. I would come back here, but I won’t be getting the bourguignon.

Found this gem walking around, finding most restaurants closed at 9:30. But this place was still popping. Despite being sat at the back table– where the bathroom doors are just a few feet away as well as the dish pit, I enjoyed almost all the food. The bad: mussels– were pretty dry. The mussel broth was boring. Felt like we got the last pickens of pre cooked mussels that were sitting out for a while The good: everything else– baked scallop in a bechamel sauce, garlic fries, garlic rouille, escargot, french onion soup, crab bisque, butternut squash soup, roasted beet salad, sweetbread, lamb collar. Dessert was good– crème brûlée, pot de crème, and crêpe suzette. Drool. Service was good and fast. Will come back, just wont sit at the back table.

We went here for our anniversary dinner and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. We got there early as we knew there would quickly be a line out the door and we were right. We started with the escargot which is served with a little puff pastry and onion soup. Our entrees were most delicious. The owner even came around briefly to welcome us which was a nice touch. It’s a charming spot with both indoor and outdoor seating but be sure to get there early. Since we were in Asheville for 4 days, I tried many different restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Bouchon by far was the best. I hope I have an opportunity to go back for their all you can eat mussels.

Monday night date night @ Bouchon for the all you can eat mussels, sounds romantic doesn’t it. Hahaha. Well when the lady is craving mussels, mussels she shall have & Bouchon doesn’t disappoint. 5 different types of broth all delicious. Although the the blue cheese/bacon was our least favorite. My only gripe is that they took the roasted bone marrow off the menu & to me this is a big one. If you are going to serve bread, SERVEWARMBREAD!!! It’s the little things that really make a big difference. BTW. Service was awesome as usual. Attentive yet non smothering. See you soon Bouchon.

Solid restaurant. Service was Excellent. That is huge in my book. My server was so awesome, attentive, and explained a variety of dishes to me, since it was my first time dining there. The cheese platter with homemade chutney was great. Seriously good cheeses(local). Lobster ravioli was good. Chicken cordon Bleu was nicely breaded, and had some nice depth with the gruyère cheese included. I was probably just exhausted from eating the cheese platter and ravioli, so I couldn’t finish the cordon Bleu meal. Somehow, I found the strength to have dessert. A fat piece of chocolate cake with berries, and a light drizzle of chocolate sauce. Yep, that was a winner. A solid experience, and a good go to option I would say, if you are seeking reliable flavors and substance. Price point is more then reasonable for what you receive. Factor all of this into the equation of dining out and boom, this place does it right.

Lovely but unpretentious restaurant in quaint downtown Asheville. We had traditional dishes that were well prepared and delicious. The service was excellent and we enjoyed sitting in the outside patio out back. Would definitely recommend.

If you like French food, this is it. Plenty of it. Service was spot on. No reservations, but they took us in with a smile. The stew, as I call it, was remarkable. The bread was nice and crispy. I would go back in a minute. It should be the number one place on your list when you go to Asheville. Frank G

My family informed me I needed to get to the gym and get some muscles. I opted for Le Bouchon for mussels and frites(fries), bread, butter, and beer. Great service. Friendly clientele. Nice locale. Place was jammed on a Wednesday evening, but they have multiple seating possibilities.

Love French food and this did not disappoint. Salad de grand-pere — walnuts, bacon, mustard dressing was good, and we shared and liked the duck very much. Paired with Burgundy wine. Torte citron with African Queen Vanilla ice-cream for dessert was good Good server who was knowledgable. A little expensive.

It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten french food, and this was a perfect return to it. On a very busy night in Asheville(are they all that way?!) we picked out this spot because my mom and travel partner said it looked legit. We put our name in, requested to sit outside, and wandered over for a glass of wine elsewhere. Our table was ready in about half the time estimated and we walked back to sit outside in the cutest little alleyway courtyard. It was perfect ambiance and a family friendly atmosphere which felt like a true french meal to me. The best thing hands down about Bouchon is their wine menu. Super duper affordable and very well picked wines. We had a bottle of rose for $ 19 that was spectacular and when we googled it found it’s not only hard to find but also a favorite of the Ritz Carlton brand. I started with the beet salad(delish and a big portion), and then moved on to the chicken cordon bleu. The chicken was sort of dry and disappointing but at that point I was already sold on Bouchon and feel like it might have been a fluke. I wrapped up my meal with the crème brûlée sampler which was fun and tasty. I definitely recommend Bouchon! It’s perfect for any occasion– dinner with mom, date night, bringing the well behaved little ones for a family meal.

We stumbled onto this on a ramble around Asheville for a friend’s wedding. The charming courtyard strung with twinkle lights won us over. Perfect on a sultry summer evening. Framed by lacy wrought iron fence and flower baskets. Much nicer than the inside which felt cramped and swampy in August. Our waitress recommended a bottle of Louis Perdrier brut rose(at $ 19 this was amazing — slight strawberry nose, crisp and bright). I ordered the rich mini pots of pâté(silky and rich) ad trout almandine, which was moist and savory. Dessert was a crème brûlée sampler with crispy caramelized crust. A definite bargain under $ 80 for two.

Amazing ! Host was pretty funny and charming(I know how it can be as I work as a host myself)! Waitress was attentive but not overbearing and recommended the pork loin special as I was torn between that and something else . Escargot app with filo pastry was pretty great, be prepared to dip bread into any leftover sauce .faux pas but who cares !! We ordered the trout and pork loin special. The best pork loin I have ever had in my life !! Everything on the plate was amazing even the vegetables. Partners trout was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh and like someone paid reAl attention to cooking it perfectly . Crème brûlée flight was awesome too ! Will definitely be back next time in Asheville

My first mistake in visiting this place was going here late. I arrived around 9pm on a weekday and they were already out of their most popular dishes. We were seated and served immediately however. They start you with some bread/butter. I didn’t realize they had all you can eat mussels on M, W, F — and of course I came late on a Wed night :(. They were entirely out of mussels and I was so so so disappointed. They were also out of their lamb dish, which was my plan B. So because they were all out of things I wanted, I decided to do all small plates(apps) and tried the pâté, the escargot, and the lobster ravioli. I fell in love with the escargot and ravioli on first taste. The escargot was heavy on the butter, so you can’t go wrong, and our waiter gave us the tip of dipping the bread in the escargot butter sauce. YUM. Ravioli was so perfectly cheesy with just enough lobster that it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the dish. The pâté was what fell flat for both my BF and I. We’ve never had pâté before and now we’re not sure if we’ll ever have it again. I don’t think this is a fault of the restaurant’s, it was probably good pâté that we didn’t know how to appreciate.

What an unbelievable spots in Asheville to dine for muscles. We started out with A mixed greens and goat cheese with roasted beet salad and flavor to the roof! Next came the muscles and fries. Could only max out at two helpings of unlimited mussels and was completely satisfied. The fries do not conflict with my healthy diet due to how they are cooked. We had the white wine that was recommended for pairing with the muscles and it was phenomenal. We can’t wait to come back for some local trout or other things on the menu. The owner Michael was there as we left and extremely friendly and sincere in his roots about good food using quality ingredients.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at this romantic little French restaurant during a recent weekend at the Grove Park Inn. The intimate atmosphere was just what we were looking for, the service was excellent, and the meal simply outstanding. We shared a fantastic plate of lobster ravioli for an appetizer, followed by sumptuous entrees of Chicken Cordon Bleu, Steak au Poivre, and a side order of fries that we couldn’t get enough of. The wine and beer selection was excellent, with an extensive selection of French wines and a number of local craft brews. Well worth the short drive from the hotel, this is a restaurant we’ll definitely be visiting again!
