Enter the Earth – Gems, Minerals, Fossils & Jewelry

Every time I visit Asheville, I make sure to stop at this store to see what new items they have in stock. I never leave empty handed. They have the best selection of rocks, fossils, minerals, and gems. The quality of their selection is the best. The customer service is fantastic. The staff makes you feel welcome and will answer any questions.

This is a nice shop with lots of variety, but be very careful going in there with kids. During our second stop at the shop, my young daughter pointed at a stone and in doing so knocked over an item which then trickled down and knocked off other items. Management was in a major panic, as parents we automatically knew that we would need purchased any damaged items. We didn’t see the signs and we were immediately reminded to not touch and that «this is why we give kids crystals, they shouldn’t touch anything else», stating all this while focused on our young daughter. My daughter was not intentionally grabbing things, she pointed at something, things happened and again, we were prepared to pay for the damage. I tried to get the manager to focus on me and discuss the damages, but she insisted on dropping to my daughters eye level, get in her face and remind her that all the signs exist for a reason. We paid for the damage and even made an additional purchase, but the way they handled it was unprofessional and focused on scaring kids. As a big supporter of Asheville businesses, this is one that I will need to remove from my list. Every person in there was yelling across the store to let us know how lucky we were that there wasn’t more damage.

Totally rude. Walked in with a child and the worker had to announce to everyone that if she didn’t touch or break anything then she could have a free crystal. That’s a pretty rude way to treat your guests. We were there for her to pick something she wants since she loves gems and we have bought a several things from here before. Guess that’s our last visit here. After talking to the employee she was clueless that she did anything wrong. Everyone likes to touch and feel the stones that they pick out to make sure they get the ones that they like best.

What a great shop. We’ve been in dozens of similar shops around the country, but this one had many nice items at reasonable prices. In short, we bought more here in one visit than all the other rock shops we have visited combined.

This is my personal favorite rock shop in Asheville. They have an amazing collection of rocks and different specimens. They have more Celestite and Ocean Jasper then anywhere else and just tend to carry very unique pieces.

I live in DC and always make this a stop on my way to visit my honey’s family in TN. Enter the Earth has amazing stuff! Granted, it’s not the cheapest, but I certainly find that the quality of their stock is the best. I’ve bought items from them in person as well as their eBay page, and both times I have been super happy.
Their staff is great, too! I inundated them with a load of questions, and they were very patient and answered all of my questions in a very professional manner. It’s definitely a go-​to place when visiting Asheville!
