Quiet coffee shop with hipster vibes, and coffee good for everyone. The staff is friendly(hello cute guy that served me). The baked goods are from OWL and are fantastic! They played a good selection of music, too.

Good latte, excellent chai which was very spicy. Very very hipster so if that annoys you, steer clear.

Our best overall experience in Asheville. We were here for more than a week, eating and drinking our way around town, and High Five stood out in all the right ways. After a long time drinking coffee from the West coast’s best roasters, I’m very confident in saying that these guys are doing great things with their counter culture beans. I had a bunch of different espresso drinks(including the coconut americano), and they were all done in solid style. Great service, interior vibe, and coffee. Easy 5 stars — I only wish these guys were in my new hometown.

After going through false starts of having coffee shops downtown like Bean Streets(which was basically Central Perk for downtown in the 90s and early 00s), it is SO exciting to have a high quality place like High Five on Rankin. The location is great — very central and yet not too crowded of an area — and the inside is totally great. Plenty of seating and exceptionally welcoming staff. There’s no attitude here. Just great coffee and great pastries from OWL Bakery(YUM!). The Cold Brew iced coffee is excellent — as is their regular«Batch Coffee»(also known as drip to the rest of the world). Don’t miss High Five when downtown. It’s hometown and tourist friendly at the same time. Which is a hard feat to accomplish downtown lately. This place is easily the best coffee shop in Asheville.

Great atmosphere, nice selection of creative coffee drinks and teas. My cortado was rich and balanced and my wife’s cappuccino was perfect. A nice spot to duck in for an afternoon pick me up.

My adventure to High Five was outstanding. It was cold and we were looking for a warm cup. I ordered a traditional latte and it was made to perfection. Of course there was a neat design formed in my cup that is always exciting. High Five provides quality product, but also a fun environment to enjoy coffee in downtown Asheville.

Only have 10oz lattes. Who does that? Also ordered a bagel with cream cheese and the cream cheese was pretty gross. Had carrots and way too much pepper in it. I just wanted regular cream cheese. The coffee itself though is decent.

I was at High Five Coffee Bar for a few hours while passing through Asheville. I had a cappuccino, a chai latte, and a yogurt and granola parfait. The drinks were awesome, the food was delicious, and the service was approachable and very friendly!

Was passing through Asheville and I’m glad I stopped here! I ordered the barista’s choice, which I believe was cold brew with some kind of orange reduction… Whatever it was, I really enjoyed it. I also ordered a Peru pour over, which was also nice. Cool atmosphere, kind staff, and great attention to detail. I like that my drink took a few minutes and it was fun watching the staff interact with customers and each other. I can tell that quality is important! Big high fives all around!

Why 4 stars? Because my Cubano was unique, but quite salty. — — — I was desperately in the need of some caffeine after spending my morning commuting to Asheville. Luckily, I was right around the corner from High Five Coffee Bar, so my decision on where I’d receive said caffeine was an easy one. I elected to go with the Cubano, after the barista told me on this funky drink. She mentioned it had salt, which intrigued me. Unfortunately, my sense of adventure won out over my sense of logic — salt in your coffee is just weird. It’s hard to describe, but every sip made me feel bloated. I’ve been to the other High Five location, so I can vouch for their joe overall. A downtown location probably made a lot of people happy, as well. Next time, I’ll just avoid opting for the Cubano.

Local coffee shop that will make you even forget that there is such a place called Starbucks. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVESTARBUCKS but upon the recommendation of a local I stopped here while taking the urban walking tour. I was cold and windy so the stop here was a welcome respite. Warm and cozy with locals taking up spots doing work or conversing, the simple menu spoke to me. Helped by the batista I went for a 3 shot Cappuccino. It took a bit longer than would have been at my local Starbucks but handcraft goodness takes time love and tenderness. Presented with my hand crafted beverage, with an artfully designed leaf I was blown away at the smooth and creamy texture and full bodied flavor. Nothing more was needed and it warmed both my body and soul with each sip. They also have sandwiches and pastries for purchase so it’s a great spot to just grab a coffee or a nosh.

Best coffee house in the area, I usually get the drip, but everything I’ve had from here is great. I love the atmosphere. The only thing that I don’t like is that there’s not many outlets for my laptop, and as I was working and studying while there this was a bit inconvenient but not enough of an inconvenience that I won’t continue to go here regularly.

Stopped in here while waiting for another restaurant to open its doors. It’s a quaint coffee shop so I loved the small, cozy, neighborhood atmosphere it has. I liked that they make their own chai spice for their lattes – there was a huge pot on a convection burner with all sorts of spices boiling – it smelled great. Fast and friendly service in a relaxing setting. Can’t go wrong with that.

Another awesome find due to the help of my fellow Unilocal brothers and sisters!!! From the moment you walk in you see that a great craft product is created here by some of the greatest baristas in all of Asheville. They simply do one thing and gosh darn it they do it amazingly right… Java!!! L and Caroline rocked the house the night we decided to take a chance and taste some of the magic they were brewing up behind that counter. I had a Diablo coffee that was packed with so many flavor notes(cinnamon, chocolate, smokey earthy notes just to name a few) that my taste buds felt like Rhonda Rousey getting hit by that all to famous head kick… Once I started sipping it I could not find my self putting it down not for one second till sadly it was all gone. So if your looking for that rare gem of a Coffee shop that is serving some awesome Java head on over and see L and Caroline and ask them to whip up some of that tasty elixir they got brewing behind that counter you most certainly will be pleased…

A very focused menu specializing in coffee and espresso. I got a Diablo, which is a Cubano with some cayenne. Deep, dark textures, and delicious flavor!

Glad the owner showed the private response… but I stand by loyalty comments… plenty of places in town to get rewarded for a lot less… but everyone needs to visit this business to make up their mind

After a night of drinking, you need coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. Well, it’s hard to miss High Five in downtown Asheville as their name and an arrow to the shop is chalked practically everywhere in the area. So yes, let’s go to there. Down an alley and next to a parking lot, here it is. Nice, industrial, hipster feel to it. Free wifi and caffeine in eight bajillion different manners. I just had a straight black coffee, but there’s espresso, latte, cappucino, you name it, they can do it here. Even cold press. Food? Yep. Pastries and snacks and sandwiches and whatnot, too. Service was excellent. That gal slinging coffee knows her stuff! ;-)

Oh man! How lucky are we? High Five now has a downtown location. This spot has all of the same great beverages and loyal staff to attend to your caffeination needs, 90% of the charm of their original spot, and a 110% awesome location, so this is definitely a Five Star coffee destination. The beautiful brick and hardwood interior is comforting enough to meet for a friendly conversation with an acquaintance, but industrial enough to inspire work. There’s tons of seating at quite a few communal tables, as well as some private two tops. There’s a new system of passing orders to the barista using these cute clips on a wire. Zoom! I can hardly tell you how awesome the location is, right smack dab in the middle of downtoan on Rankin. What they lack in the way of charming outdoor seating they make up for in proximity to EVERYTHING. Counter culture coffee, knowledgable staff, and free Wi-Fi makes this spot a welcome addition to the downtown coffee scene! One note: Power outlets are not as plentiful at High Five’s new downtown location so either plan to sit by one of the few, bring that macbook extension cord you ordered but rarely use, or just charge your battery up!
