Mattress Firm Clearance

NOTE: I’ve been on Unilocal for 7 years and this is my first negative review.
TL;DR Mattress Firm? More like «Mattress Limp». Avoid at all cost.
My girlfriend and I just moved to Asheville from Los Angeles and needed a mattress.
We were still in browsing mode, wanting to check out a few stores, but the the sales person strongly encouraged us to purchase a floor model at a discount (the total still came to nearly $ 700).
Unfortunately he did NOT tell us that this meant no exchange under any circumstance. I did assume buying a floor model meant that we could not return for money back. But I would not have made this purchase had I known exchanges were out of the question. And my girlfriend and I definitely would have remembered if this were communicated to us.
After the mattress arrived I noticed it starts to sags deeply if I lay on it for an hour, and it actually gets worse each hour. Basically I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I’m being swallowed by an uncomfortable bed monster.
I called Mattress Firm and the same employee tells there is nothing he can do. You see, on the receipt I signed (after my card was already ran), Mattress Firm was kind enough to let me know (in fine print and in a legally binding way) that floor models can not be exchanged under any circumstance.
Terrible experience. I’m not sure about Mattress Firm practices in general, but I would avoid this particular branch like the plague. It seems like the quintessential «sneaky used car dealer» operation.

Having moved back to my hometown I needed to replace my matress since it had been dragged from the midwest to CLT and now to AVL and it was time for a new one though I didn’t want to pay a ton as it was only a double.
I looked online and sales were going on at the Mattress Firm… thinking it was just going to be a «price» play it turned out to be a customer service experience… and a positive one at that…
I walked in and the Sale Manager… sorry I forgot his name but a tall guy… walked me through my options based upon my needs and price points. Throw in trying to schedule a convenient time and disposal of the old mattress I was very happy of the purchase and even the delivery people were even great! I good place to consider shopping for a bed.
