We just came home from a nice stay at the Mount Vue Motel. Another reviewer accurately described this place as «vintage,» and I would also add that it’s a bit«retro,» at least in terms of the room décor. Pros: The price, the room amenities, and the location. The price was great, even over the holiday weekend. There was free wifi, the beds were very comfortable, and each room has a microwave and fridge, which is very convenient. The room was also very clean. And it’s about a one-mile walk to downtown. That is worth the price alone. The owners are super nice, too. Cons: As one reviewer previously said, the walls are a bit thin(but not as bad as other places I’ve stayed), and they don’t have a website, so you have to book a room over the phone or in person. They also only give you bar soap, but they replenish it and your towels daily, so just bring your own shampoo and you’ll be fine. Overall, this is not your fanciest of places to stay, so if you prefer five-star hotels, the Mount Vue Motel is not for you. However, if you’re looking for a clean, affordable place to stay that is close to downtown Asheville, this is your place. We will definitely stay here again!

Clean, convenient, inexpensive. The owners are very sweet people. It’s not fancy, but the cable has a lot of channels and there is a grocery store and several restaurants right out side the door. I’ve stayed here twice and have no complaints.

Mount,(or Mt), Vue Motel in Asheville is just right. Perched just beside an intimidating, but familiar, tunnel to Asheville-proper, it boasts 10’sh rooms trapped in the late-80’s. Check-in featured a 2’x4’ wood-paneled box. Better-yet, the inn keepers still utilize a carbon-copy credit card processing system. It’s, quaint. Just don’t be in a rush. The couple that owns the place is precious. Mount,(or Mt), Vue is within walking-distance to a bourgeois super market, fast-food and a Mexican restaurant. The price is low enough. There are probably equally-comfortable digs in or around Asheville, but why mess with acceptable?

No frills and a price to match. Clean rooms and nice owners. Brisk walk through the tunnel to downtown. You don’t come to Asheville to hang out in your hotel room, so this provides everything it needs to. Negatives — exterior entry and noise from adjacent rooms. Earplugs would probably be adequate to mitigate.

Cheap, clean, great location, and super friendly owners. What more could you ask for?

Excellent motel for the value. I stayed in the Mount Vue motel for mountain oasis festival in Oct 2013. I waited until the last minute to book a hotel and all hotels in downtown Asheville were very expensive. I found Mt. Vue when searching hotels on google. It is located less than a mile downtown and I walked to and from all the music venues everyday. I didn’t drive or take a cab anywhere. Granted, the style of the motel is quite dated, but for $ 70/night it was perfect. The room was large with 2 full beds, a sitting area with small dining table, chairs, microwave, and good size fridge. There is a buffalo wild wings directly across the street, a Mexican restaurant next door(which was delicious), and a huge grocery store less than a block away. The proprietors of the hotel were a very friendly old couple who clearly take pride in their little motel. They actually gave me $ 10 off my last night for no apparent reason. My entire bill for 3 nights, including tax, was $ 222. For proximity to downtown, this is by far the best value you will find. If you’re looking for a good deal, I strongly recommend this motel.

This place is vintage rather than old. Seriously it’s a little outdated but very clean and the beds are comfortable. The walls are a little thin but not too bad. The owners and very welcoming and the location is great. Perfect place to stay for the price!

Good price, and GREAT view… or should I say«vue». It’s a little musty and dated, so may not be for those who don’t like to roll the dice. However, if saving money is your deal, then this is your place. It feels like you should pay more just for the location.
