These are some great modern tacos! Space is small and can get pretty crowded, but there is an outdoor patio if the weather is nice. Highly Recommend!

TacoBilly offers some interesting, delectable tacos with generous portions at great prices. I highly recommend trying their plantain tortilla. Cute, but small place. The entrance/front dining area can be tricky to maneuver once there’s a solid line from the door to the register. I quickly came to the conclusion that it’s probably wise to opt for outdoor seating(weather permitting), as it was a little too chaotic(to bus our table, return the high chair down the hall, use the restroom) and felt a wee bit intrusive, once the lunch rush hit. This will absolutely not prevent me from returning, though. My new NEW favorite taco place. Definitely a west side gem.

I walked in with a sports jacket on and they made fun of me for being overdressed. Fair point. I ordered a couple tacos and some guac and grabbed a seat on the back porch. Less than THREEBUCKS for a decent sized taco? Amazing prices. I got the Billy Ocean and loved it. The guac was just OK.

Mmmm Taco Billy! This place is excellent for breakfast or lunch. I love that they serve breakfast all day. If you get there at after 11am, you can order from either menu. Two tacos should fill you up nicely, but who can stop at two when there are so many awesome tacos to try? The plaintain tortillas are excellent, but they do sometimes run out. My favorite breakfast tacos are«Mama’s Favorite»(Sausage, eggs, spinach, sweet potato, and goat cheese on a plantain tortilla) and the Migas(Eggs, onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, crispy-fried tortilla, and colby-jack cheese). All of the lunch tacos are great too, but my favorites are the Yardbird(Fried chicken, mango slaw, and siracha aioli), Morita(Morita chili-stewed pork and potatoes, tangy slaw, cilantro, and jalapeño crema) and the vegan Support Group(Cumin sweet potatoes, pecan and black bean hummus, roasted pepitas, avocado, spinach, and coconut crema on a plantain tortilla). The guacamole is excellent and so are the various agua frescas. The owner is super, super nice and I wish him continued success! My only disappointment, the coffee is just ok. I would love a better cup of joe to go with the awesome food.

Taco Billy, I love you so much that I drove nearly two hours out of my way to be greeted by your sweet, carby embrace. I scarfed down the Migas, Little Sister, Support Group, and a good portion of a dope ass order of chips and salsa. Once again, you more than delivered and made the 3.5 hour ride home(and the brunch belches I experienced during said drive) much more tolerable. For these reasons and more, I thank you.

A small simple place which is so beautiful and filled with very nice people. I had the Mama’s Favorite — I don’t eat sausage as such, but they were very nice to replace that with chicken — made right from scratch. It was the best I had in a long time! Oh and yes. MUSTMUST definitely try the Aquas Frescas — combine the different ones together to make your own flavors! I did! :D

Shamelessly visited taco billy two days in a row! It was pretty packed when we were there during lunch time, but by the time our order was ready we had a picnic table out back for our party of five. There are a couple tables outside in the front and out back and several inside. Let me start by saying one or two tacos a piece is the perfect amount. My husband and I recently visited a different taco joint and the tacos were so small – so we automatically ordered three each and weren’t able to finish them! I got a breakfast taco, the billy ocean: with eggs, potatoes and cheese, the little sister: Grilled queso fresco, refried black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and chipotle crema and the Morita: chili-stewed pork and potatoes, tangy slaw, cilantro, and jalapeño crema.(You order at the counter off a chalk board. I suggest looking at the menu online before walking in, there are lots of options to choose from and It would have been nice to read up before making such a big life decision!) You can create your own taco with up to 4 toppings, however there is a price increase with each additional topping. Our friends got some chips and queso, yum. We liked the hot sauce they put on top of the cheese. We all munched happily as we waited for our food.(They also offer chips and salsa and chips and Guac. Everyone in our party got water but they offered different house made fruit juices, coffee, tea, margaritas, and beer. Our food arrived shortly, and pretty much at the same time even though we ordered on two separate tickets, which was nice. The breakfast tacos were a hit!(Which is why we came back the next day for breakfast.) I also really liked the bite I had of someone’s «yard bird» which had fried chicken mango slaw, and siracha aioli. The«Little Sister» had far too much refried black bean, so I had to dump some out before I was able to take a bit. There is a lot of variety offered at Taco Billy, even within the restraint of being a straight up taco joint. They have a good selection vegetarian tacos, gluten free options(house made corn tortilla) and vegan(plantain taco shell.) You can also make your own taco if your feeling funky/picky ;). I love all the details that are put into the menu and the restaurant in general. The interior is decorated with old paintings of nature scenes and in each painting they have added their billy goat«logo.» Super cute, super tasty.

Best breakfast tacos I’ve had in Asheville hands down !!! Best I’ve ever had? Nope, not by a long shot. But, being a local buisness & using all local ingredients is awesome. I had the Mamas special with the plantain tortilla & goat cheese, delicious. The Migas was ok. Kinda dry & not that specialThe salsa is made fresh in house & if you want hot, get the green. Stoked this place is around. Parking is a complete nightmare if you get up late. Coffee is decent & they have a decent selection of agua Fresca & for you hipster/hippie types kombucha on tap. Yuck.

OMGato! I love Taco Billy so much! Thrilled to have them apart of the Asheville food scene. They fit right in with their creativity, quality and consistent deliciousness. They’ve blended their personal style with latin style and come up with delectable yum. Muy Rico! You can tell they’ve put their heart into their menu and their food! The breakfast tacos are sensational very hearty and filling. Some personal favorites that have become addictive: the yard bird, the grandberry, mama’s favorite, migas,(and the one that really will rock your socks or chanclas), the Good Lovin’!! Flavors are intensely savory yet very balanced. Corn tortillas are the real deal, you can smell the freshness of the masa. Don’t pass up the plantain tortilla either it enhances the already unctuous ingredients therein. Parking can be tricky, line can get long but worth the wait. Seating can be tight but there is more at back of restaurant and the rear outside patio. Come to W AVL and indulge in 2 or 3 or 4!

Owners Hunter and Beth Berry have captured the exact flavor, style and culture of the Austin breakfast taco. A flavor that I have longed for ever since I left Austin in 2005! They bring with them all the authenticity known only to true foodies all the way from Austin via four years living jn old Mexico. You are lucky, Asheville! I ate there three days in a row on my last visit to AVL and even brought some home to my brother and dad here in CLE. All the tacos I tried were supremely tasty! But if you’re new to the breakfast taco, try a build-your-own and then branch out from there. Can’t wait to eat there again!

Just tried out this new West Asheville gem today. I’ve been hearing the rave reviews for the past couple weeks but wanted to wait for the traffic to die down a bit before checking it out for myself. I brought along two friends to dine with me, one of whom is a Texas native and was very much looking forward to some of the familiar foods that she has a hard time finding here in the south. The line was short, our customer service was excellent and we got our food in record time. I stuck with a standard breakfast burrito known on the menu as a Billy Joel, with bacon egg and cheese. Between myself and my companions we got 5 different menu items and were collectively thrilled at the quality and taste of our meals. Since I wasn’t too adventurous I’m waiting to go back to try more food before giving this place a 5 star rating, but Taco Billy is definitely on my ‘must eat here again’ list and I will recommend it to others.

Unfortunately my first experience here was very, very ‘meh.’ I will definitely try it again and hopefully will be more happy. When I went to Taco Billy there were about three other groups of people there. They had all already ordered and were sitting at tables. I went in and ordered two breakfast tacos and coffee. I got the coffee right away and had a seat at the picnic table outside. I ordered the Billie Holiday and the Migas Taco, add avocado. After I ordered, the restaurant started getting busier and many others were sitting around me waiting on food. After about 15 minutes all of the people around me who came in later started getting their food. After about 20 minutes, I finally went in and checked on my food, and after 25 minutes I finally got my food. Way too long of a wait. Also, I thought the food was very mediocre. Small size and I definitely could’ve made them better(and faster) at home. The«crispy tortillas» in the Migas were soggy tortillas cooked in with the eggs. Not impressed. Unfortunate.

In a nutshell, I’m a Texan, I had expectations! Portions…small. Price…expensive for what you get. Parking…suckfest. Taste…not spicy, too bland. Staff…AMAZING This is where I’m torn. I love Billy, great guy. It’s hard to keep returning to a new restaurant that’s ironing out all the kinks. I HATE fighting with the Asheville parking fiasco. Will I return? I will probably give it another shot. It is a great idea with great people behind it.

Why 5 stars? Because breakfast tacos are the best way to start the day! — — — Move over Wheaties and Cheerios — a breakfast taco a day, will allow you to beat LeBron James at basketball. It’s true. After just 3 tacos, I was able to make 3 pointers at a 60% clip. I ordered the migas and the billy ocean tacos, which were so enjoyable, that I had to head back and order a custom taco with all of the pleasurable fixins’. I’m not good at a lot of things, but I can point to a lot of delicious fixins’ to stuff in a tortilla, and then eat said conglomerate of goodness. There was avocado. There was cheese. There was sausage and bacon. After my custom taco, I immediately dunked a basketball with ease, and I’m only 5’11 on a good day. I cannot wait to return for some non-breakfast tacos, and then enter the NBA Hall of Fame.

I love stopping in here for lunch. Great food, fresh ingredients, and a friendly staff is a winning combination. You absolutely must try the plantain tortillas! They are transcendent! «Mama’s Favorite» has become my favorite taco. Also, make sure you order the chips and guacamole! It is top notch and you get a very large portion for only $ 5!

Wow, so I’ve given Taco Billy a few additional visits and the more I come here the more I fall in love. Everything was better than good before, but now that I’ve figured out a few key factors to enhance my enjoyment, it’s a solid 5 stars. Here’s the deal. I like my eggs a very particular way, some of you kids really like to make sure your eggs are done, you embrace firm eggs, with little bits of brown… shall we call it carmerlization? This dude here, well… I prefer my eggs fluffy and soft. On my last visit, on a whim, I asked if it was possible to have my eggs prepared in such a manner without causing any trouble for the kitchen? Taco Billy’s reply? Of course! No trouble at all. Corn tortilla? You got it. Boom. Experience enhanced. I’ve also felt like two breakfast tacos is the perfect amount, but that’s a lot of eggs. I have too much to do to be loaded down by delicious fluffy eggs! Enter the custom taco. Yes! It is easy to be enchanted by the Migas and the Mama’s favorite. Pick one, create a custom taco sans egg, and bang your chest like a champion. You just won breakfast. I am thrilled to see this place doing so well. It doesn’t feel new, it feels like it has been here for years. I urge you all to embrace this wonderful little breakfast and lunch spot, and celebrate the awesome flavors they are pumping out of the kitchen.

I was so wanting this to ROCK for AVL but unfortunately I was disappointed. Being a native from Texas I was longing for a breakfast taco that was from«home» but that is not what I experienced. Opening day — we arrived here at around 11:20AM since they serve breakfast tacos all day. I am a major supporter of local and when I read about this opening I counted down the days. When we arrived the parking was impossible and to add people just gathered around in the parking spots and didn’t seem to care to move. TIP — place signs at your establishment to keep those spots open for patrons to park you only have a few! Second — Upon arrival we were told to wait approx 30 min outside while they switched over to lunch… WTH I know this is your first day but you have to be prepared in AVL and to me this was a management NONO… be prepared!!! OK so we left and I chalked this up to opening day give them another shot! We went back a few weeks after and there was no line… things are looking up for me on this trip!!! We place our order at the counter and the cashier was super helpful! Great interaction and customer service! I was expecting spice being this is advertised as TEXAS style breakfast tacos… NOWAY was this like a TEXAS breakfast taco possibly from Mexico were things are bland for the most part. I was also disappointed in the amount of ingredients you receive. This was over priced for what I got by about $ 1 per taco. There wasn’t enough egg, spice, meat, etc. Even the salsa served with the tacos was bland. I also ordered corn tortillas and rec flour. I would highly suggest you offer a spicy Texas taco and really bring it for those that know what Texas spice is!!! Also be prepared to take home or have a small party as seating is EXTREMELY limited. I am undecided if I will come back but I will save the people are great at this establishment!!!

Came here for breakfast today before school! I had a Billie Holiday(sausage, egg, cheese), a Billy Joel(bacon, egg, cheese), and a Migas Taco(egg, jalapeño, onion, tomato, cheese), with some water to drink. Total was $ 9.10 after tax. First of all, I always order too much food at taco restaurants. It’s a problem. After the second taco I’m set, but the third taco is there, taunting me, reminding me that I paid for it and it is delicious. So I attacked each taco in the order listed above, though I was pretty stuffed by the time I got to the Migas. They were served with small cups of red salsa and green salsa. Whether that is standard for all orders or if the type of taco determines what salsa you’re given, I don’t know. But they were both tasty, on the mild side — and if you like more spice, there’s salsa picante at every table. My favorite was the Billie Holiday, which was surprising to me since I generally prefer bacon over sausage. You can tell all of the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh, and their website lists all of the local farms they work with. The service was simple and fast. They also have a decent selection of beverages, including aguas frescas infused with real fruit. Even though my meal was tasty and fairly priced, I’m not sure I can see myself stopping in very often. I usually don’t have time to eat breakfast out, and when I do I am usually craving biscuits or French toast. I’ll come back to sample their lunch tacos, which are available starting at 11am. I think I would be more likely to return if they had evening hours, though!

Very tasty! We got a few tacos to go, 2 pork, 1 ground beef, 1 chicken, and guacamole. When we got home there were 3 pork tacos and a beef one. They weren’t labeled, it was our first experience there, so we had no idea what was what. I thought it was delicious but not spicy like I was anticipating. The pork ones taste AMAZING… the ground beef was pretty basic not too flavorful. The guacamole is AWESOME! So fresh and on point. I got obsessed with making homemade guacamole this past summer and this totally was well made. I can’t wait to go back here! Love that I don’t have to go to WDT for a tasty taco. They’re for real on top of the taco game in west Asheville!

I don’t really want to write this review. I don’t want you to know what a little gem this place is. I want it all to myself. I have been there a couple of times and was really impressed with the quality and taste of their tacos. I had the Kirb service, the yard bird, the Billy Joel and one with shredded chicken that I forgot the name. They were all so good and not as small as some other places. Very reasonably priced too. The whole package. I also ordered a melon agua fresca and that was nice and refreshing. Both times, they only had a couple people in line so it was fast to order and fast to get the food. I am sure it gets packed on weekends. They have seating outside at the back, and a few tables in front. It doesn’t really hurt that they are across the street from Hole so I can get my taco and donut fix in one shot! Perfection!
