At first I thought this guy was great– in fact he may be an adequate pediatric dentist. The problem came when he sold us a bill of goods about how my child needed orthodontia – and that he could provide the needed orthodontia cheaper and just as good as an orthodontist. Well– we were stupid to trust him, but he had been our child’s dentist for several years at that point. Several years into the orthodontia treatment, –well past the point where it was supposed to be completed, –we kept asking and asking and getting the run around. We saw a popular licensed orthodontist in Medford for a second opinion – and he confirmed that my child’s mouth was a mess. $ 6000 later and two more years of orthodontia for a total of seven years in braces for my child we were finally done. I still remember the day my child, who thought orthodontia was nearly over, was told it was going to be a minimum of 24 months more to fix the damage Dr. Cochran caused through ineptitude. The original $ 4000 we paid Dr. Cochran was gone and we had nothing but five years of pain and suffering to show for it. Worst of all– he never admitted fault or apologized. Let the buyer beware-don’t go to him for your child’s orthodontia – he is NOTQUALIFIED no matter what he says. My child is going to have permanent long-term dental problems including damaged enamel and root shortening because of excessive time spent in orthodontia. We would have sued him, but the new orthodontist refused to corroborate what he told us in writing because these guys all stick together. I hope Karma catches up with Dr. Cochran. Who knows how many people’s children he has treated or mistreated without adequate training and certification. If I had it to do over, I would have found another dentist because as good as he seems, he is dishonest and practicing orthodontia without a license. I have reported him to the Oregon Board of Dentistry, the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General as well.

Dr Joe is AWESOME — my kids love him. our first experience with him was dealing with a traumatized 6 year old — my daughter had had a horrible experience at my regular dentist. Dr Joe was calm, confident and comforting — just what she needed. He managed to remove the problem tooth and she didn’t even know it was gone! Then later — as he has every time since — he called to talk to HER(not me) to see how she was feeling and let her know she was«a great patient». That’s the way he is — really cares about the kids’ experiences. Been that way for the dozen years we’ve taken the kids there. My daughter just turned 18 and doesn’t want to outgrow Dr Joe!
