Kregger’s has been open for over a year now. I have been there at least 14 times. I have been there for brunch, lunch, diner, a couple drinks with friends & a drink at the bar by myself while ordering food to go(several times). I have been there when it has been busy and not so busy. This review has been long in the making and I hope that it is helpful to viewers and also to Kregger’s. I live in the neighborhood and had told everyone about Kregger’s when they first opened. It’s has a great atmosphere and screams to you to come in and relax! However, the food is very inconsistent. I understand that a medium rare burger is not politically correct these days, but if you are going to charge $ 9 to $ 12 bucks for a «Craft burger,» I should be able to order it Medium rare and have it cooked that way.(and no… it is not«illegal» or «a health code violation» to cook a burger medium rare or rare) I tried a burger three different times, it was over cooked each time. «Pink or No Pink» to me is unacceptable, if I want a Medium rare burger I should be able to get one. What it tells me is that Kregger’s is not comfortable with the quality of the meat that they use for the burgers, maybe that’s why they are also so salty? OK, enough about the burger. Now let’s move on to steaks… REALLY…you’re telling me that my steak can only be «Pink or No-Pink???» It’s a steak… how dare you overcook my steak!!! So now when I go I don’t even consider ordering burgers or steaks. I was there recently for Brunch and I ordered an omelette. When my omelette arrived it had hash browns on the side. I didn’t know that it came with a side and my server didn’t tell me that it did. Nor did he tell me that I could have chosen fresh fruit or hash browns as my side, he simply chose for me without consulting me. The hash browns were so dried out that were crunchy and didn’t even taste like potatoes. My daughters fried chicken(chicken and waffles) was so overcooked and her waffles were soggy. At 10:58 am my drink order was placed and sent to the bar printer. My server returned with our water and said that our drinks would be here soon and that he was too young to deliver alcoholic drinks. Ok, I get it and I understand that. What I don’t understand was his lack of follow through to ensure that our drinks were in fact delivered. At 11:15 am I went to the service bar area of the bar and retrieved our drinks myself, and yes they were very watery as they had been sitting there for 17 minutes before I went looking for them. Maybe the bartender should have known that the server can ring the drinks in but can’t deliver them? Maybe she could have delivered them during that 17 minute wait? Maybe a manager should have seen drinks sitting at the bar when they should be at a customers table? Ok, time to just make some suggestions. The hostesses are the first ones to greet guests. Maybe they shouldn’t be chewing gum with their mouths open as they walk around the restaurant? It’s just in bad taste. The staff is not very attentive, but they are a good looking group and I bet they all want to do a good job. Maybe they just need more training and better management to help them out. I also think that it’s time to hire a trained chef to oversee the kitchen operation. The menu is nice and not to difficult, but it is NOT being executed consistently. If people don’t enjoy the food, your days are numbered. Speaking of management, in all of my visits I have only been approached one time by a manager(I think she was actually the owner) to see how our meal was. There needs to be a floor manager helping the staff and checking on the patrons. If you get to know your customers, you will get more customers.

Food is good but inconsistent. Best when the owners are onsite. It is always freezing and the music is so loud I miss most of a conversation and lose my voice trying to carry on a conversation. Really!

This is great little place that has good food and great atmosphere. They have a bunch of TVs(think BWW), but I think one of my favorite features is how they have garage doors that are open to the outside patio. On a day like yesterday(warm but low humidity), it was fantastic! They also have a fire pit as well as cornhole in the outside patio area as well. We stopped in yesterday(6÷8÷16) to get dinner with visiting family. The place was just starting to get busy, but we were seated right away. When we sat down, we found out why it was filling up – We completely forgot that on Wednesdays they have a live band that plays around 7pm. The live band was a nice surprise! On to the food… We have been here a few times before, but this time we decided to try the smokehouse wings in their house BBQ sauce. The wings were pretty tasty, even my 2 year old ate some of them. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to get more than 7 wings for the price. Next we ordered dinner. I am so glad I decided to try their brisket salad with avocado… I think it comes pretty close to my current favorite — The baja style brisket tacos! The salad was HUGE. The ranch was pretty tasty as well, but a bit on the spicy side. My wife had the Jambalaya, which she enjoyed. Our party also ordered the Turkey Bacon on Marmalade(which was AWESOME) as well as the Kuban(which isn’t really my cup of tea, but my father loved it!). They have a really great selection of drinks as well, so if you happen to be in the area and want to get a good beer and some tasty food, Kreggers is great place to stop and eat.

I think other than the hidden location the owner has a winning formula: 1) Nice selection of local microbrews. 2) Attractive wait staff regardless of your orientation. Not slutty, more of girl(or boy) next door. 3) Above average food with an interesting variety.

Stopped in on my drive from the Richmond Airport to a conference. Pretty good experience. Nice sized beer menu and lots of interesting food options. I got crawfish street tacos which were actually pretty good. If I were in the area again, I’d stop back!

Kreggers recently(within the last year) opened up right by my parents neighborhood, Kings Charter, where I grew up. It’s a fun spot to grab a beer with old friends or grab a bite for din din with your fam. The bar has a lot of space and a good selection of beer on tap. Every time I go, I run into a ton of people I know, so it’s nice to catch up. Definitely a fun scene!

Just finished with appetizer and I don’t even have to wait for my main course to say this place is going to be a regular occurrence in my life. The tap are ever rotating, the food is delicious I can smell it from where I sit and I want to bum rush the kitchen to try everything! The staff is awesome they overheard we were hot on the enclosed balcony so they asked the rest of the guest if it was alright and turned the heat off. There are so many things I could say about place but it would be longer than war and peace. BOTTOMLINE: Go and experience this place for yourself!

What a cool place in a very unassuming Food Lion-anchored shopping center. Mom and I enjoyed our dinner here. Really fun atmosphere, excellent service, huge craft beer selection, and a surprisingly diverse menu. I had the fish tacos, which were made with cod and were tasty. I went«Texas style» which meant it came with grilled onions, poblano peppers, jack cheese and pico de gallo. Slightly spicy and quite filling. Mom had the shrimpacado salad. She was pretty satisfied, though the shrimp was a tad underwhelming. Luckily for me they had my fav beer on tap– COTU Pocahoptus! HH7 days a week from 4 – 7. Again, such a refreshingly fun place out in suburbia and a terrific staff and cool menu to complement it. I can’t wait to come back next time I visit the rents(it’s 5 min away!).

They have a dog-friendly patio– but you need to enter around the back where there is a gate to get to the patio. The food that I’ve ordered has been good. This place is always packed– it seems to be the only game on this side of town– so be prepared to wait a little bit.

We visited Kregger’s for $ 7 steak night, which includes an 8oz strip steak and 2 sides. The parking lot usually looks really full, but don’t let that deter your visit. We didn’t have any wait to be seated. I ordered the seasoned green beans and the fries. It wasn’t the best steak I’d ever had, it could have been more tender, but it was delicious for a $ 7 meal. Our toddler had a burger with mac ‘n cheese, but he also stole my fries and green beans. My husband had the steak with a side salad(extra $ 1) and the potato salad. He thought everything tasted great, but the steak had a little too much gristle for him. They had a lot of drinks on tap, including wine and beer flights, cocktail specials and happy hour from 3 – 6. We also really love the open-air atmosphere, the patio and firepit and the people are(usually) very friendly and super helpful. AND it’s LOCAL!!! Always great to support local businesses. IMHO, stop by and give it a try! Hopefully, you will be glad you did!

This place STAYS hoppin’, and now I know why! I finally got to try them out with a large group on a Saturday night. They had several very unique and surprisingly delicious house cocktails that we enjoyed passing around. From what I observed, all the menu items had their own creative, custom flair. I had the southwest salad and it was huge and incredible. Yeah, I know– it was a salad, right? How hard is it to make a salad? It’s not hard to make a salad, but it ISHARD to make a salad so good that you rave about it and can’t wait to eat it again. Kregger’s is good. Give them a try.

Atmosphere is fun, large menu, food is good, lots of beer & wine on tap as well as bottles to choose from. They refill growlers, too. :-) Hidden secret of Ashland… we only found out about them because of Unilocal!DEFINITELY worth the trip! Enjoy! YUM! The only set back, it’s loud! It is family friendly, but be mindful that they have multiple t.v.s…watching MMA tonight!

My son and I have been on a burger quest for several years. We are always in search of the perfect burger. A work colleague of mine lives near the area and recommended we try Kregger’s Tap and Table. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon on 1÷31÷16 when we strolled in around 1:30 or so. I immediately loved the vibe I got from this place. The vibe is very chill, super cute waitresses, about 20 flat screen TV’s, and several local beers on tap. Kregger’s has this cool teal and red color scheme going on. I loved it right away. The boy and I ordered burgers and kicked back drinking our cokes. We laughed and joked and talked and waited. Then we waited some more. My son is 11 and by the time the food arrived my kid had his driver’s license. I was so proud of him. Now that he was old enough to drive I figured I would let him drive home. The burger was pretty good, stacked crazy tall with this random onion/tomato tower thing on it. It was like Jenga but with toppings. The burger was cooked to order which is always a plus. After we finished our casual lunch not only did my young son have his drivers license we also had a new President!

Atmosphere is good for a suburban Hanover bar grill. Food is really good! The mixology is lil weak. Its locally owned and the folks are nice the burgers and other entrees are delish. Brunch is a new option with and the bloody mary bar is on point

First time going as I wanted to make sure they had ironed out the service issues I had heard they had in the beginning. Place was clean and decorated great. Service was good(even though it was our waitresses first day). We went for dinner since we had our kids 13 with us. Kids had taco /burger off kids menu. Burger was ok, taco was tiny and only 1. For $ 7.00+ it should have been 2 for sure. BBQ was very sweet. Chicken Sandwich was… Weird. Fries were cold. Music was super loud that even sitting at the same table was very difficult to hear others talking. Not a great menu selection at all. Don’t think I would try it again unless for happy hour maybe.

Reminds me of the type of awesome places in Portland, Oregon. Delicious food and good service with the indie vibe. Waitresses are very attentive. Potachos with beef brisket, advocado with Watermelon Jalapeño Lemonade and Kreggaritas are incredible! UPDATE: We finally got a table on the patio on our second visit. But had to complain though. A party of 20 was finished but still occupying 5 tables after most of the tables had been cleared and ¾ of their party had left the tables to play corn hole or watch. Staff should have been on top of things by freeing up the vacated tables. I was planning to leave after we finished our drinks but they were able to pry one of the tables away. Sounds trivial, but I drove 20 min to sit outside and have drinks and potachos and watch the sunset after a bad day at work.

Had to upgrade my review from 3 to 4 stars. This place is getting better as time has gone on Ambiance — restaurant is great for a family or a group of friends. Laid back music, great outdoors seating areas and tvs. Food — menu has been changed a few times. Burgers are great, fries have a little spice to them. They now have a kids menu with quite a few good options. Drinks — Lots of great local beer options on draft and in bottle. Also lots of good signature drinks. Happy Hour is 330 – 630 weekdays. Will definitely be back for more.

We had dinner here last week and decided to give it a second chance tonight. I am glad we did. Last week there was no children’s menu printed and they had few options. Food was okay, but my burger was a little overcooked. This week I was pleasantly surprised that they have already made some changes. There is a children’s menu printed and they have added chicken fingers. I ordered the same burger and it was much better this time. They have a wide drink selection, a lovely patio area, and provide very attentive service. I am looking forward to seeing what additional improvements they make. I think that the menu does have room for improvement… especially with offering a wider variety of entrees.
