Small Change Children’s Store

Fun little shop in the center of town, just-​for-​children clothing, toys, books, gift items. Just perfect for that grandma who has been on the road for weeks and is beginning to panic as she heads home to face the adorable little ones… empty handed.
Phew. Crisis averted.

Their employees need customer service training badly! I popped in with a friend Saturday after someone outside was playing beautiful harp music. The good feeling quickly diminished when we actually got in. The two employees were so smug and disengaged in their jobs. They constantly carried on their own mindless conversation as each shopper checked out, only stopping to ask in a bored tone «are you all ready» to customers who are CHECKING OUT. Clearly we are all ready, we are at the counter with our items down. They asked every one that checked out this same question as if their droll conversation was interrupted. Sad, this business could be making so much more money. But we went over to Bug A Boo and got the complete opposite experience and spent quite a bit of money.

Store is messy and the staff is rude!
We stopped in on vacation (we travel through Ashland often). Had my kids with me and thought it was nice they had a play structure in the middle of the store for kids to play.
The lady working the store that day was incredibly rude to my children telling them not to touch toys near the play structure, and getting very upset that a 2 year old would play with toys in a toy store. Seriously?
For a kids store this place is incredibly un-​kid-​friendly. The biggest shame of it all is that we still purchased the items we had already picked out. We won’t be back.

Great inventory but staffing for the day definitely not happy to be there. «Could you direct me to the toddler sizes?» «They are under the toddler sign» didn’t see the toddler sign ten feet up, so… «Oh, I need 24 months» «That would be under the infant sign» I made my purchase none the less and then, you have to buy a bag! Hmmm

I’m not the best gift shopper, so I stopped by Small Change and asked for help. Their staff were extremely friendly, and picked out four awesome birthday and Christmas gifts.
