Between the videos, the always-​quick responses on all kinds of social media, and the great selection, Goulet Pen Company is one of my favorite retailers– period. Not just for fountain pens. Everything I’ve ordered has been shipped with care; promptly. It really feels like a friends-​and-​family business that wants to share their love of ink and pens and paper with you. Love them!

Just received my first order, quick shipping and fantastic packing job. Nothing to complain about. I love this company’s youtube videos, it helped (enabled?) me to pick out exactly what I wanted. Thank you again!

I have since stopped purchasing my pens from this company and now only purchase from John Mattishaw. His customer service is world class and cannot be beat. After having more than one hiccup with orders I’ve decided to go elsewhere. Snarky attitudes and in general very displeased with the customer service from the owners.

Not thrilled with the service at this company. I explained that the Emerald of Chivor ink wasn’t getting a sheen on my Apica CD notebook, and all I got was a strong sales pitch to buy a different paper that doesn’t suit my needs. I had even explained I was using an italic nib, and got told to use an italic nib. Um, I just wrote to you that I was using an italic nib?
So, it all felt like a sales push, not help that I could trust.

Goulet = Ignore The Customer
I have waited months for availability on a fountain pen. After several phone calls to Goulet customer service for an estimated ETA, I still cannot get anyone to call me back with an answer. I even prodded Goulet with a poor review on the pen. No Reply, No Callback, No E-​mail, No Response.

The Goulet Pen Companyis one of the best companies I’ve ever dealt with. Everyone I’ve spoken with has been extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgable, and all of the representatives are FAST to reply to email, which can’t be understated. Some (admittedly, much larger) places take 24 hours to respond to an email, while the folks over at Goulet usually got back to me within 10 minutes, which is out of this world. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how quickly everything has gotten to me, and their fantastic staff have made me a customer for life. I can’t imagine going through anyone else, and I can’t recommend them enough.

If you made a mistake in your order… and are now complaining about return shipping costs… well too damn bad. They’re still a mom and pop shop, step off and don’t be so careless.

There is one thing I care about when accessing any type of retailer: Customer Service.
You can get tools of any kind from anywhere else on the internet… But to find the place that understands customer service in a personable, approachable way is a fantastic thing. Goulet Pen Company has it in spades.

Fantastic place to buy pens, inks, and other goodies. Customer service is incredible, and things are priced reasonably. The best part is that shipping is as timely as it is professional. Orders arrive well-​packaged to ensure that nothing breaks in transport. If the shipping companies are negligent and somehow break an ink bottle by throwing your package, the GOULETS will absorb the cost and mail you another item for free! They Goulets will also test you pen before they send it out to you if you request, meaning you will never have to worry about receiving a dud. The shopping tools on the website to compare inks and pens are also perfect, eliminating most of the need to see a pen or ink in person.

I love doing business with Goulet Pens. I order ink refills, the occasional pen. Fast, quick service and I like the idea of doing business with this kind of company.

I had never bought parts for my pens before, but I wanted to switch to a fine nib from my Monteverde medium and Goulet had them at a really reasonable price. My order came not only well packaged and quickly, but with obvious signs that it was hand-​packed and had a signed card and even a Tootsie Pop.
The real winner, though, was when Katy in customer service helped me fix a problem. Monteverde had misstamped a nib as F when it was writing like an M (edium). Katy not only immediately got back to me, but worked through the issues and sent me a replacement F and told me to hold on to the already shipped one in case I needed it later.
Good customer service makes or breaks a company. Goulet pens has it hands down and has earned my fine writing business for whatever they carry from here forward.

A friend gifted me a pen and ink from Goulet and I couldn’t seem to get the pen to flow. I called, got a delightful agent on the phone who walked me through what I needed to do, then chatted with me about inks while I flushed out the pen and got it writing properly.
She could easily have told me what to do, then disconnected the call and left to my own device and I’m sure I would have been fine. Instead, staying on the phone and talking to me about the inks she liked best and giving me the suggestion for a fun pen to try in my first order made me feel more like I was calling a friend.
Delighted by this first impression and am anxiously awaiting my order!

They recently botched the address on an order, where I had to travel to the post office in my old neighborhood in order to pick it up. They compensated me in a way that I wasn’t entirely happy with, but since it was a small order, I figured I’d suck it up and move on.
Well, I tried and I couldn’t let it go, so I contacted the company and told them what was going on with me.
Their response was excellent. I’ll leave it at that.
Nobody (and certainly no company) is perfect, and perhaps the best way to judge a company is to see how it handles itself when it screws up. After my strongly worded letter, the company made it clear that they were taking steps to make things right. My claim was resolved pleasantly and openly and I don’t think they were blowing smoke up my tailpipe either.
A single mosquito in room when you’re trying to sleep is a counterargument to the idea that one person (or company) can’t make a difference. I believe that.
There don’t seem to be many companies which put customer service as their highest aim anymore, but this is one.

The team at goulet pens is just great and their service is lightening fast. Usually, you get you order within 3 business days. I placed 3 orders in July and one of them was lost in transit. In a weeks time they shipped my replacement package. They have an excellent choice of ink and paper and their prices are very reasonable. You also get a handwritten note from one of the Goulet Pen team members thanking you for your order to add a personal touch, a tradition started by the company’s founder, Brian Goulet. If you like fountain pens and writing quality paper, do check their website and shop confidently. Till then Write on!

Although an on-​line business, these people are the best and they have built a business around making you feel like family. Real people will have real communications with you once you hit enter. Yes, I am a pen geek, but I feel like I am cheating if I buy anywhere else (Never do). The facts, advice, and opinions are honest, and you will always know which is which. I hope to meet them in person someday.

I love writing. Probably a bit too much as I’ve spent a good amount of money paying for writing instruments. The Goulet Pen Company specializes in fountain pens and is one of the bigger names in online pen companies. It’s also probably one of the best.
The have a huge selection of pens and inks. I like the fact that for ink, instead of buying a whole bottle and risking not liking it, you can buy small sample sizes for a few dollars to see if you like the ink or not.
Everything is packaged super super well. Never had anything break in transit (even if something bad happened, I know they would take care of me).
And Goulet has one of the best customer service ever of ANY store I’ve ever been to or interacted with.
As to the complaint that theres no free return shipping… well not even Amazon provides that for most items. If a big corporation can’t, I’m not expecting a small family run business. I’d rather eat the cost and make sure Goulet Pens stays in business a long time :)
One last thing, I know there’s some competition with Goulet and JetPens but I find them to be very different (I’ve bought from both places plenty of times). I find JetPens to be amazing for hard-​to-​find Asian pens (especially gel pens) and pencils. But for fountain pens, Goulet Pen is my first stop. I’m very happy with them and you’d be too.

I’ve shopped other ink and pen vendors, but this is the best. The selection and customer service is the best. I enjoy the updates and the video demonstrations. You can join a club and receive ink samples each month. This is an example of a small company that’s been able to «knock the socks off» the larger competition.

BEST Internet service ever! I was having trouble placing my order online, and Goulet did everything for me and arranged for me to pay through PayPal. Brisk, efficient, friendly, helpful, and delightful to work with. I would recommend Goulet to everyone.
AMAZING SELECTION ! Only Goulet has the Preppy pen conversion kit that makes an inexpensive pen into a dynamo writing and drawing instrument. Their ink selection stuns the eyes. They have paper and journals that cannot be found elsewhere.

I’m a comparatively new customer and I am wowed. I’ve been playing around with fountain pens for over ten years. These guys know pens, that’s a given. But, their detailed knowledge of inks and how they work in different pens — even with different nibs — is truly impressive. The videos are charming in their simplicity — most done by Brian Goulet himself. They’re also very helpful. I always thought that I was doing something wrong because I always got ink all over my fingers. It’s very good to see Brian getting a bit messy himself. Fountain pens are not just for stuffy old white guys. Who knew?
Did I mention that I got a tootsie pop in my last delivery?
I’m hooked.
