This was a nice stop on the way from Oregon to California. If we hadn’t already eaten, we would have ordered some of their tasty food offerings. As we were full, we only did the tasting. We really enjoyed having separate priced flights and one could even create your own flight. We decided to do a red flight and have the knowledgable and friendly Antonio help us choose which one we should try. He was very informative and told us about the soils and areas the grapes were planted in and we learned a lot from him as well as loved their wines! We bought a couple. They didn’t have it at this time, but they even have a safely placed bee hive in the summer that you can view along with the beautiful view there. We bought some honey as well. Great place!

Instead of driving through Ashland, we thought we’d take a sort break and explore the area a bit. Naturally we ended up at a winery! I was extremely impressed with Weisinger Family Winery. The wines had great acidity and mouthful, the setting was beautiful. And Ariel our server was amazing. Walked away with 6 bottles — or as we like to call it the happy party pack. I particularly enjoyed the Rose of Syrah and both of their red blends. A must visit on your Ashland wine tour.

Their red wines were phenomenal. We did the flight of 7 for $ 10 to taste all their red wines and then ordered two glasses. Winery also had a nice relaxing view of Ashland. The host was very informative and friendly! I would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

We enjoyed the private cottage, great deck with hot tub, nice bottle of their wine and cheese. Easy trip into Ashland. Great view spot up the hill to a swing and bench. Much enjoyed!

I come up here annually to toast the start of some excellent theater. The tasting room is inviting(make sure to check out the bee hive display inside), outside patio provides a great view. Wines are good, the gal who has poured for us the last two visits knowledgeable.

A decent slugger in the wino world but nothing to passionately drool over. The Sideways cast would have been shouting about their two Merlots in the tasting room, but they’ve got a beautiful view to distract. Digs: Gorgeous location, gazing over the toasted hills and farmland; it’s something to remember; clean and roomy for private parties or to simply explore and sip; musical guests add to the romance of the hilltop estate; Drank: 10 Taste Flight — $ 10; 2 – 3 solid bottles(Syrah, Petit-Blanc, Syrah/Cab Sav blend); the rest of the flight was shallow in personality or extremely dry like it was taking the saliva right out of your mouth; – Optional Only Red or Only White Flights Available as well $: On the expensive side with no tasting-fee waved for purchasing a single bottle(must buy three bottles); Service: The gentleman was very kind but I had to be overly inquisitive to ignite him into the conversation and breakdown the wall of stiff professionalism; for me I like a personable guide or a friend-like expert to be educating me behind the counter(that’s just me though) Overall: – For the record I’m merely a rookie when it comes to wine and only have a few friends that are grape veterans to educate me. Enjoyable but not returnable in the foreseeable future; Weisinger’s needs to dive deeper into the development and perhaps trim their list and nurture a few grapes at a time. Best thus far in wine, service, location: — Ledger David — Pebblestone Cellars — Troon Vineyard — RoxyAnn — Serra Vineyards

With the utmost relaxed and serene atmosphere allowing me to sit outside get in touch with nature while savoring my tasting experience. The petit cepages is delightful to the tongue and tingles my jaw in a very fabulous kind of way. People working here are pleasantly nice and helpful. Would come back for sure

Our plans had changed from what we originally came to southern Oregon to accomplish so what should we do? Let’s find a winery to check out I suggested. And with that we headed further south to Ashland. We were looking for wineries when I spotted this one, Jen K., has been here I said and she liked it, it must be a good place. We brought our sandwiches from a local store as it was going to be lunch time prior to use returning to Medford. Our hostess was very attentive and even with an added crowd of six right after us, she was spot on. We decided to purchase three bottles of wine and one to drink during lunch. She handed us our bottle for lunch(with glasses) and told us to come back after lunch to settle up. Cool deal. We opted to sit outside, it was about 50 degrees so not terrible and while not sunny – not raining so that was key. Enjoyable wines, view, and personnel. All in all a good time. I’ll be back again.

It is kind of a surreal experience to get intoxicated with your mother. And we were entering the danger zone after our quick stop for a taste or two ended up being an exploration of many of their wines under the charming guidance of their tasting room manager, Larry. It was sort of a lost afternoon and the details have become fuzzy(I wonder why), but I was practically in hysterics with his depiction of how to properly taste wine. I thought he was messing with us at one point(are there hidden cameras?), but darn it if the techniques didn’t work. I would just never, ever do some of these things in public. We were the first customers of the day and had the entire place to ourselves, so we may have gotten a little extra attention. This is a family owned and operated winery, with the founder’s son taking over operations recently. The majority of our tasting were of their red wines and I would classify them as good, not great. The tasting room is comfortable and set on a hillside in the outskirts of Ashland with a nice view of the Rogue Valley. If I wasn’t so eager to stay downtown, renting their guest cottage( ) would be tempting. Tasting fees: White wines $ 3 Red wines $ 5 Full Tasting $ 7

We really enjoyed talking to the guy working there, and we also really enjoyed the view. We weren’t as crazy about the wines, although it was cool how there was a separate fee for the white and the red, as we don’t like white as much. It’s worth coming by for the tastings, and if you come at the right season you can see those bees Malory V. posted(they do honey here too). There’s also a guest cottage that might be up your alley.

Pleasant wine tasting experience and the guy at the counter was talkative and knowledgeable. My three stars is really about the fact that they don’t waive tasting fees for all members of the party when you buy three bottles(also, that’s a lot of bottles for waiving the tasting fee, even by expensive Sonoma or Napa standards). It was just the two of us, and it seems like the decent thing to do, when a couple is laying down $ 80, is not to skinflint for the extra $ 8. Maybe it’s a busier place in the summer, but in October, it’s not like they had large parties beating down their door. Two or three other people wandered in during the 45 minutes we were there. The wine itself is interesting. I’d recommend the Cabernet-Syrah mix in particular, although the Petit Blanc was also a winner. They have claret, for those of you who want to pretend to be Samuel Johnson.(It’s not actually that great, though. Claret, as I learned, is actually just a blend of multiple reds.) Several tasting options, depending on what you want to try and like: a red flight, a white flight, and the everything flight. I will say, despite my complaints, that the tasting fees are fairly reasonable for the quality.

Intentionally only stop on trip north. Tasting room pretty, cool and empty. Counter has big tip jar. The server poured us one wine and went outside where there was one table with guests. She remained there, clearly enjoying herself and visiting — which is nice, except she apparently forgot us. After 15 minutes and much amazement, we left. Ah well, headed north to Willamette Valley where the wine folks get more practice.

Great winery and worth the trip. No free tastings but we didn’t encounter any in Ashland. Usually if you buy three bottles, you get the tasting waived(and that was pretty standard with the three wineries we visited). Our pourer was very friendly but the wines weren’t that amazing. We actually ended up liking a Chardonnay the best and we’re red drinkers. The view is great but we went to two other wineries that had better views(try Trium and Paschal wineries).

We’ve been to Weisinger’s several times now(maybe 3), with each trip we make to Ashland. I really appreciate that they make small lots of many mixes and styles of wine, which is fun and impressive for a smaller winery. In past trips we’ve had the opportunity to talk with John, the founder. He’s passionate about his wine, and engaging with him results in a 5-star experience. This year we didn’t get the chance to see John at the tasting room, and unfortunately, the experience was just not quite the same. The staff was pleasant but not nearly as interested in talking about the wines, or as engaging. It was a little more typical of tasting room experiences we’ve had at many other countness places. As for the wines, several of the reds are really quite good. Their Petite Pompadour and a 60⁄40 blend of Cab/Merlot(I think?) were what we liked best. If you visit and get a chance to talk with John about his wines, you’ll be in for a treat.

One of the highlights of my trip to Ashland was this really adorable winery. The staff is so friendly, the views are so breathtaking, and best of all, the wine is good– worth buying some bottles and drinking at home. We each had a different favorite. We had so much fun at the tasting then hanging out on the deck and soaking in the view.

Definitely worth the jump off the freeway. First of all the pourer is wonderfully welcoming and nice. The reds are delicious and worth the purchase of multiple bottles. I purchased a bottle of the Petite Pompadour mostly for the taste, but a little for the name! Thank you Unilocal!users for introducing Weisinger’s!

Outstanding stop on the way from the Bay Area to Eugene, or just stop in Ashland and stay here. Not too far from the freeway, beautiful country. .. stop here, have lunch in Ashland, and you’re good to go for the rest of the day! We splurged a bit while we were here, and were very impressed by the wines at our first-ever Oregon winery. The tasting fee was waived with a 3-bottle purchase, so I got the 2005 Petite Pompadour blend, we both got the 2006 Cab/Syrah blend, and she got the ’07 Viognier. Ashland is a must-see while you’re driving up through Oregon, and if you’re here, Weisinger’s is the perfect place to stop. Highly recommended!

Update: No free tastings, guys. These old reviews are what drew me there. I’m no connoisseur of wines, so I won’t berate too much. I had a full tasting of nine wines for $ 9 and none of them stood out to me. They’re still known for having great Merlot, but I never drink the stuff so my basis for comparison is non-existant. I thought the bees were the coolest thing there! By the way, we were there on a Thurs. afternoon and there were only a couple people there. Got an interesting lesson on the«State of Jefferson” – research it!
