The Little Soup Shop

It’s a nice little cute soup shop. I like the idea of this business but they need to work on their «owner» attitude. They need us, the customers, not the other way around. They are so many good food places in Aspen.
She made me feel uncomfortable when I said I never had smoked salmon soup. So what? She should have said: «oh, I’m so happy you get to try it first time, it’s a really good soup!!!». Instead she made a face like who did not had such a soup.
I understand her fancy «register» but she should have asked me how I want my receipt: e-​mailed or texted. She was too busy showing me how I choose to tip. I would have not given her the tip if I would have paid at the end. When I asked about my receipt she made the face and big attitude that they don’t print such things, we are «fancy». She thought that Romanians don’t have email addresses or phones. Well, lady owner, I do have the Unilocal app and people find out about your business, which is good for you even if you don’t get 5 stars. If I’ll ever come back for a soup I hope the food is not touched by your unwashed hands. Consider that your touch screen register is touched by so many hands that sign on your device and after that you touched my little piece of bread, the very tinny piece of «fresh» herb you put as decoration on soup… Luckily I was offered garlic which I like and is a natural kill germ type of food. Food was just OK.
Overall is 3 star rate. Needs work on details that attract people not make them exit without ordering.

Ok, we’ll maybe I just don’t get it. The people were very nice, but the broccoli cheddar was very poor. It was the consistence very watery and a clump of cheddar at the bottom of the bowl. My friend got a mini sandwich that looked very ’ thrown together!’ The prices where good for Aspen but after eating there, I understand why prices were as they were. Spend a few bucks more and get something more appetizing.

The soup is undoubtedly fresh, healthy, delicious, creative and… Aspen cheap (which by all other accounts would be expensive). I stopped in the first week it was open and was not disappointed by the service or food. Usually a restaurant is still working out the kinks, but this small, owner operated, restaurant went out of their way to make the experience pleasurable. My only negative comment would be, I was still hungry after my soup. I will definitely go back, but maybe have a sandwich or salad to accompany.

Stopped in today and found out this is only their 3^rd day in business. Well done! I had the Split Pea soup and it was delicious. The owner was excited to tell us about the inspiration behind her recipes. I hope this business thrives!
