These guys were great. We had a tree come down in our front yard last night, called them and they showed up early the next morning. They had a large Norway Maple and they chopped it up, chipped it and cleaned the yard in about an hour and a half. Really professional and friendly.

We hired Rick’s to cut down two large maples(both 60+ years old), grind the stumps and surface roots, and cut down one medium sized holly tree. Great price and great customer service, however, communication and scheduling of work can be improved. Good overall experience and we would use Rick’s again. Pros: Best price out of 5 quotes All work completed exactly as promised Friendly customer service Cons: Had to contact them to schedule work though I was told they would contact me Details: We bought our home earlier this year knowing that the large maple in the front yard was diseased and dying. Over the summer, we realized the maple in our backyard had significant surface roots that spread over half of our backyard. We decided to get a number of estimates and opinions. Estimates: We spent a couple weeks getting quotes from 5 different tree servicing companies, and to get professional opinions on what to do with the tree with all the surface roots. All the companies pointed out that the tree with the surface roots had significant rot and most of the main branches were hollowed out. It was advised that we cut both trees down so in the end, my wife and I decided that our choice of company would ultimately come down to cost. We purposely made it a point to get our last quote from Rick’s, since they stated in all their ads to call them last and that they would beat any quote. On top of that, they offer a $ 150 discount for signing on the day of the estimate. How can you beat that? Especially with all their positive reviews! Not only did they beat the lowest quote(with the $ 150 coupon), but they also agreed to trim up a couple other trees at no extra charge. Cutting Down The Trees: The estimator told us that someone would call us in a few days to schedule the work. About a week later, I still hadn’t heard from Rick’s, so I gave them a call and left a message. They were quick to call back and I was able to schedule our appointment for that week. They brought a crew of four guys, a bucket truck, and a shredder on the day of the work. Not to mention, we got the«pink crew»(men wore pink and logos on trucks were in pink) where 5% of the proceeds from our job would be donated to Komen Philadelphia. Not only did we get a good price, but some of our money is going towards a good cause?!? Awesome! The point man did a walkthrough prior to the start of the work to ensure his crew knew exactly what to do. Within half-an-hour, they already had the tree in the front yard down to the main trunk and had started on the tree in the backyard. Though we weren’t around for the whole job, my neighbor told us that everything was done within a few hours. They cleaned up all the debris and there was no damage done to our lawn, despite Rick’s warning us that there could be some lawn damage. Stump Grinding: I was told that the stump grinding was supposed to take place a few days later. Nearly a week later, I received no calls… again… so I called Rick’s… again… and scheduled the appointment… again On the day of the stump grinding, the gentlemen expressed concerns about the possibility of hitting a gas line, so he said he would feel more comfortable having PECO come by to mark the gas lines first. He made a call to his office who took care of everything with PECO. PECO came out the next week, and Rick’s came back the week after that to finally finish the job Conclusion: We are very satisfied that everything was done exactly as promised. We would have given them a 5 star review if they had called us as promised to schedule the work. We would use them again and we would recommend them, but with the understanding that you might have to stay on top of them to keep things moving along.
