Good food, great service! The appetizers are better than the entrees.

I love Greek food and would rank Taverna Kyclades, Ovelia and Aegean Cove as my favorites in Astoria. I brought my family here for Mother’s Day. I was a little disappointed to find a Mother’s Day prix fixe menu when we arrived because there was no mention of this when I made reservations on the phone(this is a pet peeve of mine). However, the food was delicious and made up for it – we shared our various appetizers, entrees and desserts, and my parents(who do not eat Greek food much) loved it all. I have also recommended this restaurant to my father-in-law and his girlfriend, and it was a big hit with them as well. If you need to make reservations or want a nicer atmosphere for a special occasion and Taverna Kyclades doesn’t fit the bill, I would highly recommend Aegean Cove.

*hidden gem*… probably not for the Greek community in Astoria but possibly for others considering how far from the subway this place is. I had lived in Astoria for years but it wasn’t until moving to Elmhurst that we ended up buying a living social for this place. It is deceivingly massive and there is a really sweet outdoor under the stars type eating area that is perfect for the summer nights. The staff was really friendly and they gave us plenty of warn pita bread and hummus that was REALLY good. I had the Seafood Youvetsi which had orzo with shrimp, mussels & scallops in a tomato based sauce with feta cheese. The menu said the feta would be melted but it was more of a melt in your mouth situation. It was really really good and the portion was huge. Armin L. had a fish that came out whole and he also really enjoyed it. We had one glass of greek white wine that was also really nice and went to well with our food. This place seems very local and there was a birthday table getting started around the time we were leaving. In all the food was great the staff was awesome and the establishment is a nice size with great outdoor seating. It is definitely a full 5 and something that you would expect to do well even in the high standards of the city.

Beautiful décor, delicious food, nice sized portions, and reasonable prices. The food is preparedwith that extra special touch. I had never heard about this restaurant until I received a Groupon coupon invitation. It’s sort of in an out of the way location, but worth the effort to get there. The owner even said that there’s a rooftop area for the summer that we’re looking forward to checking out. They are very nice people and very service oriented. They even had live music on a Friday night… very nice touch.

Yes. Everything here is amazing. The hot, complimentary pita bread with spicy feta spread was do good. And they were very generous with bringing out extra bread an spread. We also go the lentil sausage and vegetable stew an some sangria. I can’t even find words to describe how good it all was. Top It off with super friendly service, and I believe you have a winner.

This restaurant is a bit far from the beaten path, but it is worth the trip! I have been here a number of times recently and the experience has always been amazing. The staff here are very friendly and have the best attitude and demeanor of any restaurant that I have ever eaten in. They love the food that they prepare and serve and they love sharing that with the customers. And the food here — can not be beat! It is exactly what you want from Greek food — amazingly fresh ingredients of the highest quality and perfectly balanced flavors. Yet, the dishes are traditional and not some weird fusion take on greek food. I will often come here and make a meal of appetizers and sides. The leek sausage is superb, the zucchini croquettes are just wonderful and the vegetable stew was perfect. The sangria and other drinks I have tried here are great as well. With a really nice décor inside and a roof deck during the good weather, this is worth a trip out and then another trip and another trip. They do get pretty busy on weekends so I highly recommend going out on a weeknight.

I’ve always enjoyed eating out in Astoria, especially for Greek food, so I’m pretty familiar with a bunch of the staple places(Uncle George, Opa, etc.). I hadn’t been to Aegean Cove before, since it’s a little out of the way(but still right near the bus stop on Steinway). The food here was incredible — the Feta Sto Fourno was one of the best treats I’ve ever had, and every single thing in the Greek Salad was fresh and juicy. Even a slice of onion was notably delicious. I do wish, though, that while they have a really fantastic list of vegetarian-friendly appetizers, they could use a couple of full-fledged veggie entres. The Greek Salad was as good as it could possibly be, but it would have been good to have had a few more meal options.

So good!!! There are a lot of great Greek places in Queens, but this place is a special gem. Honestly you could make a meal just from the amazing sides and appetizers. I’ve been several times and every trip has been great. Great food, good service, nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Must try dishes: Giant Greek Lima Beans Beets with Skordalia Lemon Potatoes (I’m not vegetarian… soooooo, for me to have my socks knocked off by so many vegie dishes is a HUGE deal! Trust!)

The food was alright but the service was great! They gave us free dessert which was nice, I would tell you to check it out since I am not the arbiter of all things greek. Gets crowded on weekends so call ahead.

Although it’s off the beaten track in Astoria, a friend and I made the trek to scope out what all the hype was about. Participating in Queens Restaurant Week was another reason we wanted to give it a go, not only for the nice pricing, more importantly so we could have a taste of everything. My dining buddy is a vegetarian and there are numerous vegetarian options on the menu but only under the first course. For pre fixe menu, you typically pick an item from each course. I called prior to ensure that she would be able to order three of the items from the first course section and was told right off the bat, that it wouldn’t be an issue. That right there spoke volumes to me. Another stand out for me was that they actually had their Restaurant Week Menu online. While waiting, I was chatting with the owner, I wanted to pick his brain to see what the stars of the menu were. I had already reviewed the menu a number of times before going, I thought I narrowed it down to what I wanted. For the first course, he suggested the beans. For the second course for fish, he said sea bass. For the record, I ended up not going with his suggestions! We’ll get into that a little later. We were seated in the back dining room where only one other couple was having dinner. Maybe it was slow because it was a Wednesday night or is it because it’s so far off the beaten track, I’m not sure. Sometimes that worries me but I looked beyond it. After settling in, we ordered some glasses of wine and a complimentary basket of pita triangles and hummus was brought to our table. The pita was fresh out of the oven, with warmth was cut nicely by the coolness of the thick, garlicky hummus. For starters/meals, we ordered: Roasted beets and skordalia. This was our favorite dish! The beets were nicely roasted but served cold. Circling around the skordalia which must be like a cousin to hummus but the main focus in flavor here is garlic. The chilled beets with the garlic and EVOO was a refreshing and light combination. A must have! Gigantes: Giant Greek lima beans baked in fresh tomato sauce & fresh dill. While I didn’t make it to this plate, I was told the beans were delicious! These aren’t your typical lima beans, they are much bigger in size. Traditional Greek Salad: Beefsteak tomatoes, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, feta cheese, E.V.O.O. & red wine vinegar. What I consider a staple in the Greek world. All of the ingredients were extremely fresh, the tomatoes were ripe and tender. They left all of these items a little chunkier which I enjoyed. The salad wasn’t swimming in its dressing either which is always a plus, it was just enough to enhance the flavors of each veggie and the sharp feta cheese. They were also nice enough to bring us two zucchini croquettes with tzatziki(not on the menu). This dish was full of dill, another ingredient both my friend and I were pleased with. The zucchini croquettes had been fried but not overly done and not greasy either. I would almost like to guess they were just pan seared. They held together nicely and accented by the fresh tzatziki was loaded with dill flavoring the zucchini perfectly. For my entrée course I thought I had ordered the the Grilled Atlantic salmon fillet served over leek & rice pilaf. But now that I’m thinking about it, I was really served Roasted wild sea bass fillet with tomatoes, onions, in a light tomato & white wine sauce. Now this has two sides to it. Although I was served the incorrect dish, it was delicious. Was it right on their end to serve me the incorrect dish and then not tell me? I don’t think so. But nonetheless, I polished the dish off. It was funny because when it came out, both my friend and I looked at each other, mildly confused and then making comments about how we expected something totally different. And well this explains it! I’m thinking maybe the owner was upset that I didn’t go with one of this suggestions, sea bass being one of them! At this point I think it was safe to say we were both pretty stuffed, at least I know I was! But hey, dessert came with the meal how can a girl say no?! Again, while I was speaking with the owner and reviewing the in house pre fixe menu, I noticed there was no baklava on the menu but on the menu online that was an option. That was the dessert I wanted, so I had to speak up. Remember, it never hurts to ask. When I mentioned it, he said it wouldn’t be a problem at all. So I had the baklava and my friend ordered the greek yogurt. Within a few minutes the waiter rounded the corner hands full of Greek goodies. My baklava was amazing & the yogurt was also a stand out, highly recommended.

Absolutely love it. We had our wedding reception here and it couldn’t have been better. Amazing food, a beautiful setting, the best prices around, copius amounts of wine and sangria, excellent tableside service, attentive management… Uh get the picture. Oh did I mention the food. Try the octopus and the veal. To die for. Steaks, Greek specialties– I tried them all and they’re all top of the line. I just don’t understand why they don’t advertise their amazing party spaces. We had the dining room and the trrace on the second floor. You can be downstairs with the exquisite fireplace too. This place is a reason to move to queens!

Food was excellent. Went with a group and had the opportunity to try a number of appetizers all of which were good. Calamari was good(nothing spectacular) Grilled octopus was excellent.(very mild, not chewy, grilled to perfection) Pita dip sampler was also nice as well as the pita humus dip that came with warm pita bread. I ordered the seafood pasta. Generous amount of shrimp and mussels although they were quite stingy with the scallops. I think there were only 2 in the dish. Based on food alone, I would probably give this place 4 stars, but I found the service to be less than average. I’m not quite sure if the waiter was having a bad night, or in general just has a bad attitude.

Date: 07/31/2010 Dinner for two. ATMOSPHERE | 4 out 5 This is the third Greek restaurant in Astoria I have experienced; the first two places being Stamatis and Taverna Kyclades. Compared to the bustle at Stamatis and the wait at Taverna Kyclades, Aegean Cove was quieter and more elegant. It’s clean and not noisy. There’s plenty of natural light until the sun sets and then the lights are dimmed. DRINK/FOOD | 4 out of 5 We had squid appetizer, marouli salad, tsipoura(royal dorado) with two potato dishes as sides, along with a glass of white wine to pair with the fish and Greek yogurt topped with honey for dessert. Although I don’t drink, I was told the recommended wine did not pair well. SERVICE | 4 out of 5 We didn’t order sparkling water yet the waiter assumed we replied«yes» and charged us for a bottle. He had a heavy accent, and we could barely undertand half the things said. Overall, though… The staff was formal and polite. VALUE | 4 out of 5 The lemon potatoes were a bit lower than my expectations. Probably should’ve ordered a Greek speciality as opposed to the whole fish. For a «fine Greek dining» restaurant, overall experience was fine…

I was very early for a flight out of New York(LaGuardia), NY — LGA. I found this spot on Unilocal and went by. OMG you must I repeat you must have the mussels. Service was great and the chef even came out to the table to ask about the meal. I think I’ll be early from now on when I fly out of LGA

Actually, it should be 4.5 stars, very very close to a 5 star place for me. This is the best greek restaurant I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to a lot of greek restaurant in both the city and astoria and it’s the best. I’ll tell you how good the food here is… recently I went to Marea(on Central Park South) and ordered the octopus appetizer. The dish was good but Aegean Cove’s octopus appetizer was soooo much better. All the other dishes are so great here. It is a little bit pricier than the other greek rest. in Astoria but it is soooo much worth it. Taverna Kyclades, Stamatis, etc… sorry, it is not as good as Aegean Cove. What a find! What a place. Am definitely going back for more! The baby roast lamb… soo good and they’ve roasted the lamb for like 6 hours and take the lovely juices from the lamb and coat a thin angel hair pasta with it. I thought it was a little bit strange that it was served with angel hair pasta, but it was delicious. Good and generous portions too! Overall…YUM! Am definitely going back. Price: kinda pricy $$$ Atmosphere: Cozy, warm and inviting Décor: Quiant and kinda old-fashion-ish

Fried haloumi is always good. Ordered a nice steak medium rare — chef made it perfectly, with a glass of house wine. Topped it all off with greek yogurt, honey & walnuts. Nice atmosphere for a date or small dinner, has a 2nd floor for parties and I think outdoor dining in the spring/summer. Waitstaff was nice and attentive. Missing 5 stars because its not as «greek» as people want it to be.

DEEEELICIOUS!!! Food– I ordered the Pastitsio(Greek Lasagna), it was AWESOME. It didn’t fall apart like some that I’ve had, the meat was seasoned well and the cream sauce was CREAMMMYYY. BF ordered the Plaki(fish)… seriously wow, it was in a light tomato-wine sauce, cooked perfectly… out of this world. Appetizers– Houlomi(sp?) — SALTYCHEESE… seriously try it. Steamed Mussels… YUM for realzies They give you free yogurt and honey dessert. if you can fit it! Place– Gorgeous… we sat on the 2nd floor that you can also rent out for parties. Service– Great, friendly and attentive. Location– A little out of the way, but on the upside there is a lot of parking because it’s secluded. I will definitely be back, it’s great for a nice night out with family, friends or a date!

Well I was a little concerned about going to this place because it only had one Unilocal review and that was around a year ago, even though it was 5-star. Well I had no reason whatsoever to be worried! This place is a hidden gem, very popular with families and older couples. The chef, who I had read about on their website, greeted us on our entry. The waiting staff were very prompt, recommended a great wine for my wife and rattled off 3 or 4 mouth watering specials. We started with the Saganaki cheese which was cooked to perfection. I opted for the Lamb Kleftiko — a special that they only do once a month apparently. It tasted AMAZING! It reminded me so much of being in Greece(I lived there for 3 years although I am actually Scottish) at Easter. The dish was served with tender lemon potatoes — melt in the mouth stuff. My wife went for the Plaki which was also excellent. We finished with some dessert: Baklava and Greek Yoghurt — both complimentary. Definitely as good as it gets for Greek food!
