Honestly, I don’t know how to fully describe my experience. I never really thought I’ll have to write a review because I didn’t deem it important enough, but I need everyone to know about it. I’ve started training here for nearly 4 years(with breaks between, but that’ll be explained later) and it is awesome. At the beginning when I was a 17 year old teenager who was a bit cocky in fights, I had my first taste of real sparring and I’ll kid you not, it was rough sparring with the people in the dojo. I’ve originally thought dojos were kind of skeptical where the masters really don’t teach and that it’s usually a mcdojo but this dojo is honestly a hidden gem. The pricing is fair, the Sensei is very reasonable as long as you’re dedicated and you show up every class. It’s a traditional style that allows innovations so they’re always adapting to how modern fighters fight. I would continue to attend the classes as much as I can, but sadly I’m now in college in upstate where I can’t attend class unless I have long breaks or when I come back. But nevertheless, I do my best to attend the classes when I have a summer break or a winter break. This place is really great and there’s no half-assing allowed. The Sensei won’t allow you to half-ass the training or anything. If you’re thinking to see if you like to join, I would recommend this place to you.

My instructor from GenjoKoan Karate in NYC took us here for a day of training and sparring. This place is super awesome with really skilled people at all levels. Shihan Takao is a master of his art. The dojo is easy to locate but the door up to the dojo is a little mysterious lol but once you find out how to get into the place it is great. Spacious matted flooring. Overall a great experience for our style to train with them.

My 8 year old son Glenn has been going to Oyama Karate for the past several months and he loves it there! The sensei is very patient and attentive and children-friendly. He goes out of the way to create a real family feline, even having holiday parties and get togethers. Good mix of agers and there is plenty of controlled contact right away. The studio is in an old beat up warehouse on Northern Blvd, but the studios are large, clean and spacious. Plenty of street parking available and the $ 80 monthly rate is very reasonable! Highly recommended for all ages!
