Empanadas are great but the rice and beans and the meat are not good at all, its like the food was heated in a microwave, it does not look fresh. If you are trying to watch a game, then the place is great. There are so many TVs and places to sit. Get yourself empanadas and you will be ok. Food 3 stars Vibe 5 stars. Service 5 stars This place is also 10 Minutes away from Studio Square, so you could just come here sit and eat empanadas while you watch the game.

I came here with my friend for dinner and it was a decent experience. I was always so curious about this restaurant due to its unique theme of the dumpster findings all over the walls. We had the mojito paisa which was really good. They had a great variety of things on the menu which i liked and the food was great. I had the pork loin steak which was tasty. However, the place has really bad lighting which i didnt like. Also the service was not the greatest. Were we legit waiting for the waiter to give us our check for like 15 minutes. And another 10 for him to take my card. Also i didnt like the fact i could feel the vibration of the train underneath me. That really creeped me out. I know its not there fault but why would they buy a restaurant location that you could feel that? However, the food was highly recommended! Would i come back? Maybe if im in the area which not many options to choose from.

One of my favorite Colombian restaurants. I love eating there with friends and family, it’s such a traditional restaurant. The food here is amazing never disappointing. The drinks are strong but really good ! I have to tell you I love the music there, they always play Ana Gabriel songs I love it. Waiters and waitresses are very humble and they are always on top of the table they are serving to check that everything is good.

A lot of fun. While I am the first to notice bad service, after reading many terrible reviews I was surprised that service here was decent, even with hundreds of futbol mad Colombians cheering on their Copa America team. The door was chaotic, with dozens of people on the sidewalk all trying to get past the bouncers to celebrate. Inside the restaurant it was sweltering, as hot and humid as Cartagena. Drinks were delivered quickly. Food was heavy and adequate. The empanadas were underwhelming, lacking flavor. The sancocho was decent, maybe worth another try. The chicken served on the side to be added in(along with rice) was perfectly cooked. Drinks were simple: aguardiente and more aguardiente. Viva Colombia!

The place is a really famous Colombian bar when it comes to soccer and food. I have always heard good things about the restaurant so I decided to try it out for the first time with my fiancé. But not all its as perfect as it may seem. First of all, you only have 4 different options of wine while in other restaurants in the same street have many more. Also, serves hear you when they want and what they want. My server didn’t take my order correctly and when I asked him about where it was the other plate I ordered he responded«it’s your fault for not taking louder»…are you kidding me… then I was trying to get the check and since he disappeared I tried to call other servers but they ALL ignored me since I wasn’t in their section. Finally I had to get up, look for«my» server and ask him for the check. His attitude was unbelievable. In conclusion, food and environment amazing but service could improve a lot!

I was in New York and a family friend took us here. It is a nice Colombian restaurnat. The food and drinks are very good and the service is good. If you are in the neighborhood stop by. It is a little bit expensive.

I really love the ambience and the music here. The way this place is decorated is very unique, but maybe that’s intentional to try to distract guests from how long it takes to get any service. Getting our waiter’s attention for anything was a struggle. We had to ask him 4 times to switch the channel on the TV in front of us and waited a while for the check. The food was alright, just not really different from any other Colombian restaurant in the area.

The food is mediocre for the price, but the service is appalling. I went with a group of 11 to try some Columbian food, and did enjoy the food. However, they double charged us for tax, and argued for an hour or so regarding the check, refusing to concede any possible error in the machine even after several different calculations of the check. Even after such a debacle, they refused to concede an error in the check, and we unfortunately had places to go. Oh also, bad service, as we ordered a bowl of rice that arrived only on the bill and not on the table, as well as slow service, but feel free to read about that in the other posts here on Unilocal. Tl;dr: decent food, but not worth poor service and sneaky overcharging, etc.

The name Basurero describes everything about this restaurant. TRASH. My party of 6 was seated almost right away, and it took about 20 minutes to be greeted by our server. When he finally came over, he had the nerve to rush us, as if it didn’t take him nearly a half hour to come over to our table. 15 minutes later, he came out with 4 drinks, and forgot the other 2 drinks at the bar. When he finally bought them over, the Aguila beers were warm, and no one bothered to drink them. The food was brought over by a different server, and left on a serving tray for about 10 minutes before anyone came to serve the food. I was about to get up to do it myself, when our original server came over. The food was cold and stale, and of course he had gotten 3 out of 6 orders wrong. Everyone was so hungry after about an hour waiting for food, that we decided to just eat the incorrect food. Needless to say, I have no words for this place. The service is horrendous, and the food is subpar and over priced. I suggest saving your time and energy, and explore so many other dining options Astoria has to offer, especially for Colombian food. Do NOT, I repeat DONOT waste your time or hard earned money at this dump.(Literally)

I’m surprised I have yet to review this place… Basurero, which is a Spanish word for dump, is a Colombian restaurant decorated with items you’d typically find in either in a garbage dump or in a garage sale. There are all kinds of nik naks that decorate the place from mannequins to portraits to flags. You name it and it’s probably there. The restaurant is rather large and once you walk in there is a host to your left who will graciously wave you in and seat you. As soon as I was seated the waiter came over and took our order. I was starving and ordered a Colombiana soda along with a Bandeja Basurero. Bandeja Basurero is this restaurant’s version of a Bandeja Paisa and includes white rice, beans, steak, yellow plantains, chicharron, sausage, an arepa(I think), a fried egg, and a piece of avocado. That meal was PERFECTION. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In terms of service, it left something to be desired. Would I go back? Yes, the atmosphere and food make a trip to Astoria worthwhile.

this place has gone down in quality from the last time i went. This was my 3rd time and no longer a fan. Basurero as the name stands its a «garbage dump» the décor is from a lot of what people have in their garages and home attics. The stuff is all over and its cool looking. The food is not what it used to be. Quantity wise is good, large amounts but taste is not even close to a real Colombian style restaurant. Ordered the bistek a caballo(steak). it comes with rice and beans with a tomato sauce on top. it just felt that it came out of a can. the others at the table had the same experience, food just didnt seem fresh. One came with canned pineapple rings. Service is good as always but with the quality of food so bad, why bother.

Came here for dinner with some friends after work on a Sunday night. Place is huge btw with interesting décor. We ordered the typical Colombian dish with skirt steak, rice & beans, plantains, blood sausage, pork skin, & etc. Food was ok but steak was overcooked. Service on the other hand was decent and portions were huge in each of our dishes. Only improvement I would recommend is to allow customers to replace the sweet plantains with tostones(other places I’ve been to would substitute that easily without being charged extra to remove/add it on).

Ive heard mixed reviews of el Basurero but ended up trying it yesterday. I was not impressed. It was group of 5 and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly. The menu is expansive and they have a great selection for breakfast called calentado. We ordered our beverages and they served the drinks in to go cups. C’mon what happened to the regular porcelain cups for coffee, hot chocolate or tea. The place was pretty much empty. We ordered our meals and the food took forever to come out. Eventually when the food arrived, they brought 3 out of the 5 orders. The other 2 orders took another 10mins. I ordered the calentado combinado campesino. It looked great on the menu however the food was subpar. The ham or pork inside the omellete tasted not fresh. The rice mixed in with the beans, the calentado, was very bland. The only good thing on the plate was the arepa and the cheese. The service was slow. I was disappointed. Not sure if I’ll give this spot another try. Doubt it.

I’m a fan of the chicharron de pernil and their small yet complimentary empanadas they serve during dinner hours. However, they really need to bring back their happy hour. In the meantime, I’ll stick to may caipirinhas… their best bang for your buck cocktail.

this place gets 2 reviews just for the fact that you are supposed to ID before you let a person order drinks. I just lost my drivers licence but have the paper version and not only that but a photocopy of my origianl drivers license of couse with my adress and DOB. I was denied with both. Eff u a**holes(your lucky i dont want Unilocal to revoke my elite status). I went 2 stores over and found a better colombian bar.

I was so disappointed. The place is awesome to look at, Basurero in Spanish is garbage dump and it resembles this because of all the great memorabilia and gadgets, etc… that are displayed above you, on the walls and downstairs heading towards the restrooms. Disappointed because of the lack of service provided. I agree with the endless comments on the crappy customer service. Our waiter was all over the place, took him forever to come and take our order, forever to bring it out, forever for the check, and never came around to ask if we needed anything, refills on water or drinks, NADA. I decided to order a refajo for the table, which is simply Colombian beer, typically an Aguila and Colombiana soda mixed. Ugh, they managed to screw that up, smh tasted blah. For main dish I ordered the rotisserie chicken with moro(Colombians shouldn’t be cooking this, actually it’s Mexicans they have cooking this) and sweet plantain, ugh just sucked!!! That moro was nastyyyyy, tasted like pure salt, the chicken was flavorless. I gave it 2 stars for décor and because it is a Colombian restaurant, but this place sucks. I have nothing against Mexicans, but a Colombian restaurant should have COLOMBIANS cooking!!!

«el basurero» como bien dice su nombre. El servicio pésimo! Este sábado fui con mi pareja a comer y me atendieron como 4 meseros en diferente orden porque el primero nunca volvió, el segundo tampoco y así sucesivamente termine pagando mi cuenta con la hoster que estaba sentada halando con uno de ellos. La comida no tenía sabor de nada todo estaba como recalentado!!! Nunca más vuelvo a un basurero como este !!!
