Had my sons 1^st birthday/​baptism here.
It’s an affordable place, nice people that run it, & you can really make it your own (the place, tables and chairs, a bar, stage and lighting are included). Everything else is up to you. Which is exactly what we wanted. Overall would recommend.
Some cons: the pictures that they have up are from years ago. The wooden floors are worn out, they decided to paint the ceilings a dark red and some Aqua blue color? And they have random paintings on the wall.
Advice for the owners: you would have more business if you went with a more neutral palate (white walls, and ceiling) polishing the floors would be a bonus!

Thanks to the folks who stated that free is not really free. Was planning to go to an art exhibit which gives the hours and says it’s free. I really hate false advertising just to squeeze money out of people. State the admission fee, don’t be fearful that if you post it people won’t come. But misleading people is a real bummer…

I called to speak to the GM and he was rude and hung up on me. He wouldn’t answer my questions or have the decency of telling me his name?! so It’s a big NO for this place. Lost out on business! too bad!

We just finished holding a 50^th birthday party here and I was really happy with the turn out. Management and staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The space itself was clean and spacious, enough to hold close to 100 guests very comfortably; a blank canvas to be decorated as little or as elaborate as needed.
We worked with a relatively small budget and this event space was perfect for the amount we had to spend. I would definitely consider using this space again for future events.

I don’t like the place; they can do a little more remodeling, but they’re nice people and I wanna give them a chance. Also, the Zumba class taught there on Tuesdays is amazing! Love is the instructor and she also teaches at NYSC. I love her Zumba music and her dance moves. It’s so fun and by the end I’m drenched in my own sweat. It’s totally worth the $ 10. It’s a full hour and that’s all the workout I need for the day. I plan to go every week once I go back to teaching in September.

I recently had an event (Sweet 15^th Party) at Club Sanm. The owner had confirmed he would provide 2 security guards, 2 wait staff, and a bartender. I asked him if one bartender was enough since I was having about 150 guest. He indicated it would and if needed the wait staff would be able to help. The day came and he didn’t provide a bartender and he didn’t allow the wait staff to bartend claiming they wouldn’t know what to do. I spend the whole evening bartending. One week earlier I arrived at the place to pay the remaining balance and when I wanted to discuss the seat plans he was very inattentive. The party was from 7−3pm. I had 12 tables of 12 guest each. Around 12:30 I had 2 or 3 tables of guest leave and the owner made the wait staff stack up the chairs and bring down the table while the party was still going on and my guest were there. Additionally, from the beginning of the party there are extra tables and chairs left on the side and in view. The owner also stated he had fridges for sodas but they don’t work and he provided two garbage cans with garbage bags and ice to place the beers in. My guest drank hot sodas because I didn’t think I would need bowls for ice at each table. Around 1pm, while I was still bartending myself, the two wait staff were sitting at table number 3 relaxing. I would not recommend booking an event here. They are extremely rude and unprofessional.

First all of, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!.. I went there yesterday for a fashion show. The flyer specifically stated that the show was free before 8pm. My friends and I went there before 8pm only to get kicked out for about 30 minutes. When we re-​entered they stopped for $ 10 fee. I don’t mind paying the $ 10 fee, however the way they asked for it was very rude! Yes, it was MR. KADER who happens to be the owner of the place does not know how to speak to customers. We told him that the flyer stated free before 8pm. He told us with an attitude that we still MUST PAY… 10 dollars is really nothing but false advertisement is the main issue and to be rude to your customers is even more ridiculous. We were about only 35 – 40 people there. He did not even make a lot of money… being stingy for 10 bucks! At least say it kindly to his customers that it’s still $ 10.00. Never again would I go to that ugly place. and definitely would not recommend this place to others. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

Well, I did not have a good experience at ALL with this place. Went here for an event which was supposedly free before a certain time. Got to the location early and they had us exit the premise and enter a half hour later, only to charge us the admission fee! Unbelievable! Crooks! Above all, the owner, Mr. Kader, was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional.
THe décor inside and outside is certainly not worth having a function at. They should consider changing the very drab awning outside and consider fixing up the inside so it can be pleasant to the eye at the very least. I am rating this 1 star for its poor customer service to its patrons and for the overall décor which is an eye sore.

The place has potential. They need to work better at their beer and wine selection in order to please a large audience. I went there for a DJ event last december and the music was great. The DJs were great as well, but the beer was skanky and only in cans and the wine tasted like… you know what. I really see a potential here, A LOT, but they need to do a better job!

This place has a lot of potential as a great venue. It appears mostly to currently host cultural events, weddings, etc but I went for a DJ event that, while not packed, had awesome music, a great vibe, and real potential as a space for music, art, etc. The staff/​owners seemed very friendly and nice. My one suggestions is that the beer and wine selection really need to be improved upon for a large event.

I came here for a DJ event. At first, the place looks very unobtrusive. From the outside, there are tiny glass windows and a door that is locked. There is a faint note that says to ring the bell. However, once inside, you walk immediately into this large call with wooden floors and fairly high ceilings — and a disco ball. I could totally see a bar mitzvah happening here.
Two big issues: the bathrooms were FREEZING. I have no idea why. But it was 10 or 20 degrees colder in the women’s bathroom.
Second, the bar selection is so meager: Michelob, Corona, Chardonnay, and red bull were the only options at $ 4 or $ 5 a pop.
However, I am intrigued that this place calls itself a multicultural space, and the owners are very willing to work with you on your needs. The location is a bit odd for Astoria — one block south of Studio Square in an otherwise very residential area.
