I’m so happy with John’s haircuts that I’ve become spoiled by him and I’m afraid to go to anyone else. I live in the Bronx, but I go all the way out to Queens in order to have him cut my hair. Excellent, and at a great price.

I just met john and his beauty salon! I was a little bit nervous because I was getting highlights, base, toner, everything, without even knowing him or any other reference. I couldn’t be happier!!! My hair looks great and natural!!! I love him!!! :)

It’s not often that I walk into a place and know immediately I’m in great hands. Everyone there was either a repeat customer or a friend who had been taken there by a repeat customer for a great cut. Everyone raved about John, and for good reason!!! He was fast without skimping on anything and clearly knew was he was doing. He says he doesn’t just give a «trim,» he only gives «style.» And style he gave me indeed! I know exactly where I’m going from now on. I watched him give a stellar men’s cut and then me and gf both fantastic, very different cuts. A woman’s haircut was $ 40, which isn’t a terrible price, and well worth every cent.

Had a great experience here. Hadn’t had a haircut in quite a long time prior to this and decided to try someone new. He is good at what he does, fast and makes you feel comfortable. We had a quick conversation about what I wanted. He showed me what it would look like and made me feel like he got it, and he did! I was done in less than 20 minutes and I ended up with the best cut I’ve had in a long time. So happy!

John was great! Got a last minute appointment for a much needed overdue cut. He understands hair, and evened up my grown-​out layers.

John is a sincere, nice guy so its difficult for me to write this review. I took pictures of the haircut I wanted, and I even drew pictures of how I wanted to look. I liked my haircut, but I needed a trim and didn’t want to go th manhattan to get a trim. I explained to him the haircut I wanted a few times and thought he understood.
I got a wash and a nice long neck massage which was nice, then sat down in the chair. The first thing he does is cut WAY too much off the sides. Suddenly, my eyes are huge; I gasp. He realizes something is wrong, and we have a short discussion. I’m starting to think, maybe this is reversible. Instead of saying sorry, or trying to fix it, he tells me my last haircut was bad and he needed to cut the sides short to fix it. He then tells me his history of doing fashion shows and that this is a popular «VIP» haircut.
It’s not the haircut I wanted. It’s too short. I live a couple blocks away so I walk by regularly. I noticed most people getting this haircut in this window. I’m starting to think, this is the only option for mens haircuts at this place.

JOHN IS AMAZING!!! if I could add 3 more starts I would. I tried him out 2 years ago when I lived in Woodside, and I knew I had found a keeper! Ever since that I had my two roommates, mom, sister, another best friend give him a shot and they all loved him after the first visit. John has a tremendous passion for what he does and it shows with each and everyone of his clients. This time I went a little more out of my comfort zone but I could only trust him to do and I LOVE IT.

He understands what you want him to do, asks the right questions and knows how to cut hair fast and efficient. This is my go-​to spot from now on.

John is a great stylist, had me in and out with a great cut and wash in 20 minutes. Easy to talk to, a true professional with the scissors, and great prices make me a repeat customer. Thanks John!

John is just that kind of person who is very honest and upfront, he listens to you but also recommends you different choices. You just tell him what you like, show him pictures and he will get what you want on your hair.

John is ABSOLUTELY amazing! He is upfront and honest with his clients and will not steer you in the wrong direction all while still giving you the look you’re aiming for. He creates such a fun environment in his salon, it’s never a dull moment. Highly recommend!

Got a great haircut from him today, as well as some advice on how to better take care of my hair.

I went it to get my hair curled yesterday. Usually if you do walk ins in other salons they send you back because they are always booked. I told EJ I have to be ready in an hour and he was «honey don’t worry I’ll be quick». He sat me down listened to what I wanted and got the job done under 20 mins and made sure I was satisfied. It was a wonderful birthday gift from him he even gave me hair clips that matched my outfit for the night which normally people charge for. My hair lasted all night. I will recommend this to anyone in the Astoria neighborhood, Will definitely come back to him again.

I came here to change my color for the first time, and I was totally satisfied with the result. If you need to have your hair done for specific occasion there can always be a spot for you, the schedule is really flexible and suits customers!

John is very easy going. He makes you fell comfortable. Going to him is an experience that goes beyond just a hair cut.

After reading reviews on Unilocal about this place, I decided to try my luck. I do not regret it! I received countless complements about my hair when I returned for work the next day. I had such a great experience and definitely plan on returning in the future.

John gives the best haircuts, wants to make you look good. I was a little skeptical going in but as soon as I stepped in, it was like a welcoming from an airport after a long trip away. 110% would recommend.

I walked by this establishment around 8:55 PM EST.
John invited me in. I asked for a beard trim. He responded that he doesn’t charge for beard trims because they’re not on the list of services.
As I’m writing this, I’m still surprised the above actually happened. On top of it all, I insisted with a tip, but John vehemently refused.
That’s called passion. John has passion. And compassion for that matter. Great human beings do exist!

I went to JOHN for color and cut and he is the best of the best, just try only John
