This place is Ecuadorian, small place with a friendly festive atmosphere(blame the world cup for the loudness.) Waitress was nice. Had a moro shake to drink. Moro means blackberry and the shake was fine and not too pricy. They were out of Chaulafan so I had a chicken stew. It wasn’t that big but the taste was excellent(especially the plantain.) They listed a free dessert on the front page in Spanish but didn’t give me one. Dinner came out to 12:50, was just enough food.

Some ignorant idiot added this place on Unilocal and put ‘Spanish’ as cuisine category. LMFAO!!! It’s Latin American or to be specific ECUADORIAN!!! No offense but I laugh OUTLOUD at the idiot reviewers here that gave this place 1 – 2 stars and write up reviews that are totally UNRELATED to the actual food/service this restaurant provides. First of all, what the HELL does the Soccer Match experience you had there have to do with the restaurant and I totally HATE people who order from GrubHub or delivery because in general, I believe they are fugly fat asses too lazy to get up to go get their food. That being said, stopped by this place randomly. I was actually gonna go to Copacabana across the street to get some Brazilian food but after seeing the offerings, unfortunately the buffet consisting of «Brazilian» food didn’t impress me at all and quite expensive for $ 5.99/lb and most foodstuffs were meat and the usual crappy buffet style salads, ya know like Macaroni Salad, Coleslaw, etc so therefore I came here. I arrived here at 1pm and didn’t order from the daily specials nor the hot food they prepared for that day but ordered off the menu. The girl behind the counter speaks limited English but is very friendly and bubbly(not over-doing it in cutesy shit) in a good way. I ordered their Chaulafan or Chinese influenced Ecuadorian Fried Rice with Pork, Chicken, Shrimp, Eggs, and Sweet Plantain. For drink, I got the Lulo Fruit(some citrus) Shake. I was told by the lady(I’m guessing the cook and the girl’s mother) that it’s going to be a 15 minute wait so I said it was fine and thoughtful of her to let me know in advance as I had to leave the place by 1:45pm. After 15 minutes, my plate of fried rice arrives and DAAAAYAMM, that is one HUGE plate of Fried Rice with Sweet Plantains and they weren’t skimpy on ingredients at all. There was A LOT of Plump Juicy Shrimp in there as well as chicken and pork and the rice was VERYGOOD!!! It reminded me of Chaufa, a similar Peruvian dish that also has some Chinese influences but less spicier but still very flavorful. They also provide some sort of salsa-like Spicy sauce which was GOOD, definitely not fiery spicy but a refreshing type of spicy that won’t burn ya ;) My bill was $ 14($ 11 for Fried Rice and $ 3 for Shake) and no tax was added and tipping is not necessary even though they do bring out your food and drink as this place is literally a hole-in-the-wall and not really a ‘restaurant’…more like a place many Hispanic people working nearby come to get their lunch or to get some comfort food of their home country. The place is fairly clean though not spotless and there’s certainly no ‘vibe’ or ‘atmosphere’ at this restaurant, so don’t come here thinking you’ll be served like you would at an overpriced Latin American sit down restaurant in the city. Instead, do stop by to grab some authentic Hispanic lunch and oh yeah, try to speak some Spanish as they’re English is limited but that’s ok with me because I speak it like the natives do. I know I’m pretty stingy with 5 star reviews but I left this place happy and felt so comfortable eating here and with no pressure, no tips necessary, huge portions, tasty food, literally 2 minutes from the subway station, this place deserves it!!! **CREDITCARDSACCEPTED** **RESTROOMSINTHEBACK**

Picked this place at random on the way to the movies. Loved the mixed ceviche(i think it was encebollados mixto on the menu). Great fried plantains. Friendly staff. I will definitely return next time.

I had lunch here once, many, many moons ago. I don’t remember much but the meal wasn’t extraordinary in any way as to leave an imprint on my mind. A few weeks ago, the Copa del Rey(Spanish League) second leg game between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid was broadcast. I left work early, a bit disappointed at the fact that I would not get home in time to see the game live. As I passed Escolas, I saw that not only were people inside watching, but you could get a bucket of Corona beers for about $ 11. Not a bad deal, right? I wasn’t sure if I wanted to knock back that much beer, even if the bottles were not the full size, but I figured I would go in and watch the game and enjoy a drink. I sat near the door because the other tables were occupied. Two guys were sitting at a table adjacent to mine; one was hammered. I could tell by the slurred speech and terrible posture that he was hammered and it was only about 4:40pm. Throughout the remainder of my stay there, he would get up and head to the digital jukebox, play some music, and question the sexuality of the guy whose only crime was sitting by the jukebox. The cook would patiently guide the drunk back to his table. The drunk’s friend split at half-time. The drunk ordered a full plate of food. He would later ask the cook to absolve him of his obligation to pay. Real Madrid scored and I ordered my second beer. The drunk approached me and informed me that he was not my friend. he told me that if anything happened, I couldn’t look to him for support. Heartbroken over this and the Madrid comeback I continued to drown my sorrows with a beer. The drunk then looked around as the game continued. He asked someone for change for the jukebox. An older gentleman at another table ordered porkchops. His meal came with what appeared to be soup. As this man finished his soup, the drunk approached, and without a word, grabbed the porkchop and took a bite out of it before placing it back on the disk. The older gentleman’s friends mocked him. As the game wound down to a close(it ended 2 – 2), a guy was talking to his friends about the game and the drunk to the opportunity to mockingly imitate him. The mocked man apparently didn’t feel imitation was the sincerest form of flattery because he got in the drunk’s face and knocked him to the ground. I paid for my two beers. I can’t wait for there to be another El Clasico game on TV.

I ordered from here through grubhub the other day. Iw as excited to see that it was Ecuadorian food. I ordered the chicken stew over rice with plantains and avocado. I also ordered a cheese empanada, and a sald(just to pretend to be healthy). First, the empanada had a fried shell, much like the old version of McD’s apple pie. In fact, it tasted exactly like that except the mild cheese inside. Now to the main course — the chicken stew that I got was literally a huge chicken drumstick with a little yellow stew poured over it. I was expecting small chicken pieces with potatoes and carrots and sauce. You know? Like a normal stew? Getting a huge drumstick instead was not to my liking. This makes me wonder what the tripe stew is like now. The drumstick itself was a little dry, and the rice was somewhat overcooked. Also, they didn’t put avocado with my meal. I don’t know if that was a mistake or they just ran out and didn’t tell me, but they should’ve put more plantains to compensate for the lacking meal. I never try to give an establishment 1 star unless they really pissed me off. The food was just meh, but the service was fast and the delivery guy was nice. Hence the reason I give them 2 stars. P. S. the salad was fresh, and a good portion for $ 5. It’s best to order through grubhub since the last review had trouble communicating with the guy on the phone.

We ordered with great difficulty via phone, the man simply could not get my order right after repeating it several times. The food was ehhhhhhh for the fact that it was near the warm/cold side upon delivery BECAUSE I had to call the establishment 3 times to locate the delivery man. He ended up lost in a «delivery zone» area. The duration it took was UNBELIVABLE considering that the restaurant is a mere 5 min bike ride away. I swore he decided to ride to Times Sq to get a freakin’ hotdog prior to delivering to our house. On top of that, they forgot one whole order but decided that they’ll include the side dishes to that order, just not the main dish. After arguing with them for a refund for the missing dish, they relented and came back and asked for our whole order back.HAHAHAHAH. they’re funny well we ate it and ya’ll establishment, we hate it. never again.
