«Hopeful» This is located in a part of astoria that is rarely visited by the masses. I dropped off 6 large trash bags of clothes. However the loading dock is saturated with donated items and it is a little dirty, so I hope that the donated items will be put to good use before they are ruined by the elements or rodents. It looks like many items have been there for MONTHS. The drop off is easy enough during the week(8 – 4:30 pm) and during the weekend there is a bin for drop offs.

Convenient way to drop off used clothes in hopes that they will be put to good use. The one time I came here it did seem like they may be getting more donations than they can handle, or they don’t have a good process for accepting the goods. As another reviewer said, as soon as you pass the goodwill building make your first right and bring anything you wish to donate to the loading dock. There are bins and bins of goods which people have donated. You can just leave your bag and goodwill will handle the rest. Don’t forget to ask for a receipt if you want one. The only thing that worries me is that many of the bins for accepting goods are overflowing on to the loading dock floor which is filthy, possibly damaging goods that were not otherwise damaged. If i get an opportunity to make a second donation here I’ll update on these conditions.

This is the headquarters for Goodwill and we like to bring our used clothing to donate here. Just pull around the corner onto 4th St to the loading dock and unload your car from the curb. Bring your stuff onto the ramp and one of the staff will help you. You can ring the bell/buzzer if no one is around. They are very polite & helpful and will offer help to unload if you need it. We cleaned out our closets and brought 5 giant garbage bags full of clothes the last time. We haven’t tried donating anything else, like furniture and do not know what their criteria for accepting such items, but I did see some stacked within the bay. The Salvation Army is picky about what they accept. Don’t forget to get a receipt for your donation for your charitable tax deduction and to itemize what you brought! Bonus! Here’s a worksheet to tally up the value of your donation to deduct from your taxes:
