My manager and I were looking for someplace to eat and the only four star restaurant in this neighborhood was a Popeye’s so we decided to try Joey’s out. We were surprised how nice it was inside. The restaurant is separate from the bar, so you could hear the music from the bar which made it more fun. The food was amazing. I am not a New Yorker, but I was so surprised how great the Ceasar salad was. The dressing was homemade and you could tell. I got the lasagna and I loved the homemade sauce. My director got the penne vodka and said it was delicious. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. After our dinner we went over to the bar area and had a few drinks with the locals. The bartenders were super nice. Overall, a great experience and great food!

This was a nice place to stop in after a 2 hour evening drive from Hartofrd to Queens. Comfy bar stools, friendly bartender, several regulars having good times… felt very comfy there. Combined with a decent Italian menu, it hit the spot. An order of fried calamari was fresh and hot… and I loved their rendition of the clasic Bacon Cheeseburger, with two thick slices of bacon on the side, so you can either put it on yourself, or chomp down on it right away. Several flat-screens provided as much sporting events as this smallish bar could take, and with CitiField literally a mile or two away, the partisan crowd gave it an authentic touch My only non-positive comment is that they had no tap beer, and their bottled selection wasn’t that huge. That being said, they served Sam Adams, and for a NYC bar to do that says something!

Overall the place was kind of divey, but the bar area was just perfect for what we needed — a place to hang while we waited to pick someone up from the airport. We read in the reviews to try the clams and they had a nice taste, although I thought the topping was a bit soggy. But then again I’ve never had that dish before so maybe that’s just the way it is. The bartender was a delight and we enjoyed chatting with her and the other customers. The vibe was very friendly and welcoming so I would imagine they get quite a few return customers!

So, I’ve been here twice now. July of last year and this past Sat. night. The restaurant looks too classy for the neighborhood or the prices on the menu, and both times we were the only party in the joint.(!!!) Good food, good prices, although the drinks were more expensive than I figured they’d be. My main question is: «Why aren’t there more customers???» Or — is the restaurant just a front for something else? Not sure, but I’ll go back there every time I fly out of La Guardia.

The ribs were very dry. I just tried one rib. Worst I ever had. Service was not very good and maybe because 15% service was included. This was a sports bar with many people watching the baseball and hockey on the TV. Two black guys came in and played loud mature rated rap music on the jukebox. The lyrics had very bad language not appropriate for families. This is very inconsiderate of the black guys.

For the past 5 Sunday’s, I have called to order something at 1:30pm for pickup. For those 5 weeks, they gave me the excuse that the chef is running late and no one is in the kitchen to take my order. They obviously don’t serve food on Sunday until very late in the afternoon and they lie about it. Not acceptable!

5 Star food in a great little dive bar. My flight was cancelled and I was stuck at a crummy hotel. I was starving and stressed out so I wondered over to the nearest place with food and beer for lunch. I expected crappy food but after my first bite into my burger I was shocked. The meat was incredible. Big, juicy, and delicious. A VERY pleasant surprise. I’ll be heading back for dinner shortly. If you’re ever nearby I highly recommend you go see the friendly staff and grab some excellent food.

**This review is just for the bar area** I came here on the night of Dec 21st with a group of 6. As soon as we walk in, the bartender says«OHHELLNO, I HOPEYOUGUYSDONTPLANONSTAYINGLONG, I WANNAGOHOME.» Really bitch? I was shocked. We literally had to ask her if we can just take a drink or two each and she said«JUSTONE.» I went over to the jukebox to play a song and she said«DONTPLAYMORETHANONESONGORELSEYOU’REGONNALOSEYOURMONEYCAUSE I’M GOINGHOME.» Guys, I was so pissed, I almost went Bronx on her. She wound up serving us two shots each and then closed the tab without asking if we want anything else. Besides the spectacular service, the drinks were pricy. $ 11 a shot and $ 12 for a rum and coke — I thought we were in Jackson Heights, not the city. Wtf? Big group — we would’ve spent a lot of money. Too bad, so sad…

Solid, non-thrilling food. Good mozz sticks, okay hot wings, okay linguine with meatballs. Friendly but non-doting service. I had to get up to ask for grated parmesan, napkins and the check. She was on her phone…

My Mother-in-law and I arranged a SURPRISE Birthday party for my wife on Feb. 242013. The guests were 20 people and i wanted the management to be aware that the Waiter they assigned us was EXCEPTIONAL!!! His name was Jason. He was the ONLY Waiter yet he worked the table so professionaly and EVERY order was perfectly delivered to PROPER guests. He smiled EACHANDEVERY time. If the Restaurant is seeking or in need of a Food and Beverage Director or needs someone to train future Wait staff. look no further than Jason!!!

I go to Joey’s Place quite often when staying at a nearby hotel, close to LGA Airport. I am not a local, but I love to sit at the bar and chat with the locals that frequent this bar/restaurant. I’ve eaten several pasta dishes — all quite good, but ALWAYS seem to be drawn to the Calamari with Marinara. It’s delish! Not breaded calamari, so it’s quite light and always prepared very well — not chewy at all. Decent beer selection too and the bartenders have always been quite pleasant. Oh, and if you don’t want to chat to anyone, there are a few televisions above the bar to keep you occupied. A nice place to spend a couple of hours with a nice meal, at a very reasonable price. Enjoy!

Don’t be fooled by the exterior or local watering hole feel when you walk in because Joey’s has great food and a great feel once you settle in. I went for the first time to a party and the bar in the party room was excellent as was the food. Good times.

The appetiers are great! The steak tidbits are my favorite. The drinks are pretty good and the music is decent. Go can book private parties if u desire and the kitchen is open late.

Ok. This place is one of my favorite local after work spots. The food is great… everything from appetizers to dinner. The décor is very down to earth, nothing fancy. The music is jukebox only and the crowd is usually locals or travelers from the nearby hotels. The service is pretty basic, but for the price, descent value.

Good Food and plenty of it, good service and friendly owner on site to assure good customer relations which we enjoyed being out of towners from Texas. Not far from the Air Port our group took a chance and were very happy with the results and next trip up their we’ll be back, all of us! If I lived up there it would be my favorite Italian Restaurant, not many real ones down in the Houston area unless you consider The Olive Garden an Italian Restaurant, and I don’t, that is Italian ”Fast Food”. I’m now spoiled on Italian Restaurants and wish Joey would consider a Texas franchise operation so I would have one near where I live instead of 12 or 13 hundred miles away. Forgot to mention how clean everything was too and the customers there were all friendly to out of towners, curious and talkative, it was fun and we made some new friends at the same time.

Came here with a friend late last night and had a blast! We’re from out of town, and the«locals» made us feel very welcome. The bartender(Francesca) was awesome. Would like to try the restaurant one day!

Nice locals place. Open late. I typically hit the bar late night, since it’s one of the few places near the airport that is open til 2am. I may stop by today and try the food. I’ve had the appetizers in the bar and they were all good.

Joey’s Place is a pretty non-descript, inconspicuous place with a red awning and old brick siding on Astoria Blvd, mixed between all sorts of small shops and businesses in Queens. When you walk in, it is surprisingly large, tastefully decorated in clean dark tones and linen. You are immediately reminded of a movie you may have seen where some Wise Guys are going to have a family meeting over pasta, men only. There was nobody there except for one table of about 8, and they weren’t Italian, but a mix of people, like friends or a small office. This was at 7pm on a weeknight. However, the adjacent tavern was very lively, playing old school R&B to mostly white customers drinking away. They must have a decent happy hour or a lot of regulars. The food is decidely NYC Italian,(as opposed to PIemonte, Tuscan, Neopolitan, etc from Italy). Seeing how one of our party was a New York Italian, with reportedly having younger days skirting on the edge of the Familias, he felt like taking the seat with his back to the wall. And he ordered/prounced in a NYC Italian way, i.e. «Proshut» vs. Prosciutto, or MInestroan vs. Minestroni Anyway, the menu had a decent selection, with antipastas, pastas, 4 Veals, etc. The service was spotty. Our waitress(there was only 1) said the place had been there 40 years, and she for 20 of them, although it has gone through many changes. I noticed painted on the walls near the kitchen the words«Bön Apetite» and«Bistro». I asked, did this place used to be a French Bistro? She said no, never. Huh? Then why didn’t it say Bouno Appetito and Tratoria? I ordered the Angel hair with Shrimp. She said there is only Angel hair Primavera. I had to open the menu and show here I was right and she was wrong. 20 years and losing her mind or memory. The food was OK. My Capellini was flavorful but sloppy in mixture and execution. However, the Antipasta plates(both warm and cold) were huge and a good deal. Most of our party of 5 enjoyed their meal, but this place is definitely a 3 star at best. They are surviving by the help of the noisy lounge(there were 2 people working the Bar), not the food. Or some other business we shouldn’t talk about.
