Rumor has it that this place opened for 6 weeks at the beginning of the summer until owner just kind of abandoned it. Everything is there as if it’ll reopen at any time, but I’m afraid that it has gone the way of the Fat Witch Bakery in Harlem. Which is also still there– 2 years later– full of equipment but never ever opened. *sigh* Let There Be Bagels in Port Washington has always been one of my favorite bagel places too. I’ll edit the rating if this place ever opens. Not holding my breath though, sadly.

I am so beyond excited that this place opened. I grew up in Port Washington so I’ve been spoiled by the greatness that is bagels from this place since I was a kid and I have been known to drive an hour to get them because they are that much better than Brooklyn Bagel. Family owned — and I want to support that. The veggie cream cheese and the veggie tuna are out of this world. Egg everything bagel? Yes. Whole wheat everything bagel? Yes. If you are a garlic lover try a toasted garlic bagel with veggie cream cheese. Your breath won’t make you any friends but your tummy will thank you! :) For those of you who have had bagels from the original: some of the Port guys are working at the Ditmars location. It’s awesome!
