My fave: fried cheeseburger empanada. We tried a dozen different flavors. Hands down, cheeseburger! Very reasonable priced and open late. Great bite to eat after karaōke across the street! Don’t forget the sauce!

Friendly staff, great food. The problem is it takes a really really really long time to get your food because they are obviously making them to order. We still come in here several times a week despite not living nearby. Very cheap and potentially friendly to vegetarian and gluten free people

I always order pick up. No issues and the Cubano fried and chicken fajitas fried are my favorites.

The service is EXTREMELYSLOW. I’ve been here several times because the empanadas are quite good, but have to wait at least 15 minutes each time(for 1 empanada), which I can understand since traffic is generally high. This time, I’ve waited 40 minutes for 1 empanada. Ridiculous. Never coming back again.

Lots of options, even for vegetarians, with quick service and good prices. I really enjoy the sweet ones, like cinnamon apple and plantain cheese. Went to the empanadas place is Hells Kitchen, my entire party agreed this spot is better. Visit for lunch or in between snack.

Two words: SOADDICTING! Been here about 3 times already within the past 2 weeks. I was around the Steinway area and bought some empanadas to-go for dinner. I usually order up to three empanadas and I’ll be full. For the corn flour empanadas I have tried: the broccoli & cheese(my fav), the chicken, and the rice & beans. For the wheat flour empanadas I have tried both baked and fried types: the pork(another fav) and the spinach & cheese. The empanadas are made to order which is a plus. They will give you 1 sauce per 2 empanadas. I get the green sauce. So, I typically wait about 15 minutes from ordering to receiving my order. I came here after 5:30pm before and the line was pretty long! I ended up being here for 30+ minutes. :(Your best bet is get here before 5pm so you can avoid the long lines.

Lacking in many areas: –Long Wait — 40 Minutes for 4 empanadas, you all need to come up with a better model for having some prepared in advance –Rude Service — If I’m going to wait 40 minutes for food, you better have a smile on your face and not hand out attitude along with the food –Stingy — If I’m going to wait 40 minutes for food, you better give me as many tiny cups of sauce as I’d like — you’re cutting costs in the wrong places!!! –Food — So many better options to get empanadas in Queens, do yourself a favor and go explore. The varieties they have sound exciting but none of them are worth the wait. Meanwhile, the standard beef and chicken empanadas are completely tasteless. You can drown it in the 1 cup of green sauce that you get, but if that’s what it takes to enjoy it then why are you even eating there. Advice: –Get rid of your existing staff –Learn how many empanadas, and which combinations your customers order on a daily basis, and have some ready –Limitless Sauce –Make your empanadas taste better

Got there at 7:45pm ordered only 4 empanadas it was 830 no empanadas. I watch my empanadas at the window for 45mins sitting there and then these people have the audacity to try and give them to me. No thanks I asked for my money back only wish they can give me my time back

The selection of empanadas are pretty great. I got the standard beef. It was relatively cheap. Only thing I hate is that its by the gym so sometimes I can’t help but stop by after the gym. No real complaints. Hope to go back soon.

The food is still good, but they need to clean this place up. This place is looking nasty.

Love Mamas Empanadas, great place to get a snack(was right across the street from work). Honestly all versions of the empanadas are delicious. I haven’t had one where I wasn’t devouring it. The service is a bit slow but to be fair they have a quite a bit of customers each time I went there. Get the green sauce with your food guys.

After a long night of Hookah and drinks this place is open, the empanadas are piping hot and delicious. My favorite empanadas are the cheeseburger, reggaeton, cuban and pernil. I always get the green sauce. Service is a little slow, and if you have a big order you could probably get away with running a couple errands. Also the minimum for the credit card is really high. If you expect to just order two empanadas and thought you’d use your card, think again! But the empanadas are good enough that I keep coming back.

I fudgin love these. MMMMMMMMM. I only eat the corn based ones(gluten free). My favorites are the chicken and broccoli and cheese. Oh man. The green sauce is so good, they give you one little sauce per 2 empanadas(you can purchase more), so make it count. The chicken one has shredded chicken with like a mashed potato fill and peas, so good, flavor reminds me of fried chicken or(Dhal Vade) lentil patties from Sri lankan restaurant downtown — Sigiri. The broccoli and cheese is queso blanco(almost like mozzarella) and broccoli, simple yet very effective. I’ve tried most of the none beef corn based empanadas, like Black beans and cheese(tasty) but the feta leaves a little something in my mouth. Vegetable empanada is alright, has legumes in it, kind of bores me. I’ll usually order 4 of these which is a lot — a good amount: P I’ve been to this chain main times(different locations all over Queens). This is the closet location from Manhattan so I will train it over, or if I have a Zip car they are open late(but do call ahead, ya never know). They even have Mozzarepas® like they have at the street fairs in the city, for less than the street fairs charge. I’ve tried their arepas, I wasn’t a fan of them, a dry and not as flavorful as Arepa café. I wish they would put an Mamas empanada in the city! ;) As for the city we have Empanada Mama’s(different company I’m assuming) which is good, a bit more expensive per empanada, and a little bit smaller. I even did a catered training at work and brought empanadas instead of the usual pizza(so good, but boring), the staff was all over them and any left overs came home with me.(in my tummy: P) Yes please

They need to get their behinds on Seamless ASAP, so I can order pick up 45 minutes before. They are SOSLOW!!! I get that empanadas probably take long to make, but dude! 30+ minutes for something I’ll finish in two seconds?! Ugh. Service is also slightly rude sometimes. But I love the empanadas.

I LOVEMAMA’S Taking off a star because they don’t love me back :(The first time I ordered from them, they forgot one of my empanadas. The second time I ordered for pick up, they left out one of my empanadas. The third time in store, there was a hole and all the caramel came out of it. Their empanadas are tasty. Always hot and very stuffed. Their Mac and cheese, Philly cheesesteak, cheeseburger, pizza and broccoli and cheese empanadas are so so good. Their sauces are a great add on as well. Their caramel and cheese empanadas are a great dessert. It might sound weird at first, but definitely a must try!

We popped in here for a quick bite before hitting up the karaōke joint across the street. Now, let’s talk about the price of an empanada. $ 1.75 or so. Not bad right? Unless you aren’t carrying cash(like most of us in 2015…). The minimum for card use? $ 15. Are you kidding me? I’m not going to buy NINE empanadas in order to make that minimum! Luckily, I had $ 4 in cash on me, so I was able to buy two, one for my wife and one for me. We would’ve easily spent upwards of $ 10 or so, so I’m sure the owners are happy to see that they lost $ 6 in sales because they didn’t want to cover a tiny surcharge to accept credit cards at a lower minimum. The two empanadas we got were pretty good. We went with the portobello mushroom and the cheeseburger, both fried wheat versions. I would’ve also had the chicken one, but again, not enough cash. OH! And you only get one sauce container per two empanadas. There’s a big ol’ sign indicating this as such at the register. You want more, you have to pay .25 cents. C’mon with the cheapness! In a world where more and more places are allowing me to pay with my PHONE, this seems so antiquated and clearly more interested in their bottomline than quality service.

A large variety of empanadas to choose from. Try to limit your empanadas made with maiz if you’re going to go out after since it just expands in your belly and you will feel very uncomfortable. I prefer the wheat tortillas since it’s lighter. My top pics: spinach and cheese, beef, chicken, cheese, guava/cheese and chocolate/peanut butter(I think). Yes, they have dessert ones!!! I’ve had both the fried and baked versions, it just depends on how healthy you want to be at that time. You MUST get the green sauce! It’s like crack! The green sauce makes it!

The restaurant was pretty packed with locals wanting some fried goodness after watching the soccer game(or shall I say futbol) at the nearby Latin bars. After all, this place is open 24HOURS! They had close to 50 varieties of empanadas ranging from rich meats and sauce and salt to sweet dessert patties. We decided on 9 versions, yuca fried and a pollo asada dish for the groom to be. The snacks were available in wheat pastry or a corn flour patty(Maiz). The standard preparation was fried but one can opt for a healthier baked version for an additional 20 cents per a pastry. Sauces were available for dipping. My favorite was the green chile sauce that had a nice kick. As we waited for our order, we sipped on $ 5.00 glasses of sangria. They also had frozen sangria as well. I loved that each empanada was served in its own bag and stamped with it’s own label to distinguish the different fillings. Prices ranged between 1.45 to 1.90 per each. We realized after we ordered that we should have gotten one of the«Value Meals» for a lot less money. We got the following Carne and potatoes in corn flour patty Cheeseburger Wheat Empanadas Mac and Cheese Empanadas Pepperoni Pizza Empanada I had a couple bites of rice and beans frommy friends Pechugo de polla asada dish and it was really flavorful and good. I didn’t try the Pepperoni and we were too stuffed to eat the nutella dessert empanadas but the rest was really good! I would definitely be back if I lived in the area.

Te gusta las empanadas? Si? Me gustaria mucho. La empanada fue muy fresca y rica. Tan buena con salsa pica. Y para dos empanadas, son muy baratos! Voy a regresar otra vez y quiero probrar la empanada«Elvis.»
