I love is place!!, I like the service, I like the environment and of course, the cupcakes and everything else! My partner and I go there at least twice a week! Yes, the place it’s that awesome!!, :P

I do not know how to describe the Red Velvet here! A essay worth of words would still not do it any justice! All I can say is… I like it a lot!
Great fun joint for family and friends and its always a place i bring any out of towner’s to sample the treasures of Astoria!

Great service and goods. The girls in here are super friendly and the food is great. I been here a couple of nights and it has been packed. I love their spinach pie, apple pie, birthday cakes and all their cupcakes. Definitely be going here more often if it was closer to me.

I’m very picky when it comes to cupcakes. In fact, most ‘go to places’ I turn my nose up and make a «gross-​yuck face» at the mention of them.
But then I some how stumbled into Martha’s one day, and for some reason decided to get a simple vanilla cupcakes with white icing.
It was moist, and the perfect ratio of icing to cake. I was very happy.

This location is ok.
service is great, everybody’s very friendly, and the glass display is very inviting.
But for those of you who have never been to the Forest Hills location, this one’s not the best.
Everything is slightly too sweet and creamy compared to its first store.
My favorite item is the banana pudding. In other locations I get chunks of banana with light yet satisfying custard cream with a bit of whipped cream on the side. This location serves it in a very similar way but with way too much butter, barely any banana, and rather than serving the fresh in a glass cup they just take the already prepared one from the fridge and put whipped cream on top of it. Still tastes great, but something is missing.
Interior is cute and the outdoor seating is perfect for the season. Overall as a place to have coffee and meet a friend, it’s pretty good.

I keep giving Martha’s chances to be good, and it never is. Sure, they have an unbelievably wide selection. And they deserve two stars for being a nice place to sit down on a date. But the cakes. Oh, the cakes. Just sugar and fat in alternating layers, differentiated only by the slightly different textures. I just can’t get excited about that.

Had a slice of the carmel cake with whipped topping and chocolate custard. The slices are large! I thought that the price was decent for what we got. It is very much so a european style dessert place– very light, fluffy pastry, which was nice, just not quite what I was expecting. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. I would definitely return again, especially to try out some of the huge cookies! =)

Went on a Friday night late for some dessert and coffee, this place is adorable with a nice outdoor seating area on a fairly calm block. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and professional, the frappes are yummy but not the best I’ve had in Astoria. Oh and ya know… the cake is delicious! I could have ordered 1 of everything. but its bikini season so I stuck to the OREO CHEESECAKE and my fiancé got the warm apple pie ala mode… both incredible. The place was packed, so the secret is out! Go try some!

Just so everyone knows — I think the reviews below for this place are actually aimed at Martha’s COUNTRY Bakery which is over on Ditmars a few blocks away (and very good!). I don’t think this place exists anymore.

I’ve had to do some makeup reviews for places I love that I didnt review right away. My wife and I lived in Astoria for 3 years. We saw Martha’s Bakery when it opened then through its expansion and sadly had to say goodbye when we moved to Miami.
This place is incredible. Everything, the cakes, cupcakes, coffee, gelato. We had it all. It was a Sunday brunch spot. The service was great. If you go, have the Red Velvet Cupcake, it is literally to die for.

I’m really surprised that this place doesn’t have more reviews written about it.
The selection of tarts, cakes, cookies, breads, pies, and the like is unbounded! Beautiful sweets extend down the length of the café in large, tidy-​looking glass cases.
On the day that I went, my café buddy and I were lucky enough to sit up by the door, and, hence, bask in a bit of sunlight that shone through the almost floor to ceiling window behind us. We chatted and sipped really good tasting coffee (around $ 2.50 a cup) and munched on tasty blueberry scones (around $ 3.25 per scone).
The café is table service, but I would encourage any newbie to peruse the display cases first – everything looks incredibly good – before sitting down and ordering with a friendly staff member. When it comes time to pay the bill you may have to get up and ask for it as the service is (again) friendly, if, however, not very quick.

I’ve been here quite a few times. Whenever I’m in astoria and I need some baked goods, Martha’s is the place to go. It’s a cute little corner bakery always filled with customers sipping on their coffees and nibbling on their sweets.
I think these are one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had! I do recommend getting the ones with the less elaborate frosting designs. They look pretty, but are not as good. Red Velevet was a tad on the too sweet side for me, but the classic vanilla cupcakes really hit the spot! I’ve also tried their banana bread pudding and it was good, but didn’t quite get it like Magnolia Bakery.
In the fall do get a couple pecan and pumpkin pies! They are quite tasty and make great presents!

One word: YUM. The cookies here are the best I’ve ever had!
