Oh! Photo and Custom Framing

They’re great here– courteous, polite and efficient. I had my passport photos taken here, and the guy had me look at the digitals first to approve which ones to print. This is also my preferred place to send faxes.
Their frame selection also looks good, so I will probably browse here first the next time I need something framed!

This review is about passport photos I took there.
I went to take 6 photos for passport today (just 10 mins back). The quality of photos was so poor that I returned and asked for refund.
On one of the photos, there is a tiny white dot near my neck. I asked the lady owner, she said that’s my necklace. Great! I didn’t wear any necklaces at all. I pointed out to her that other 5 photos have no white dot. She insisted that’s my necklace until I showed my neck to her: NO NECKLACE. On another photo, a blue ink appears near my chest. I pointed out to her. She said she did not see blue ink. There was a good period of time we were arguing «blue ink or no blue ink» until I said :“do you want to take this photo to the street and ask any pedestrian if blue ink is there or not”. She then kept quiet. Also, the background of the photos is not all white. You can see yellow stains on the corners across all photos. Of course I pointed out these stains to her, she insisted it’s all white.
So far, no apology. But it’s fine. I was not there to ask for apology but for good quality of photos so that I can pass visa standard.
I asked for refund since she had swiped my credit card. Suddenly, this lady said it’s my fault that I did not look at the photos carefully and she had swiped the card already. Now, she said she did not know how to give me the refund. Fine, not many people are very good at machine. But, you said that’s my fault? My fault is that I went into this store without knowing that they provide such poor service. Then, she said we need to wait for her husband back, and she would like to keep the receipt that I had not signed. I said I would like to keep it and bring it back by 7pm today. That lady insisted not to and said it’s all my fault that I did not check the photos properly… Of course, we went back and forth for a while about who should take the ownership of that receipt that I did not sign. Then, suddenly she said «My English is poor and I can’t talk to you».
Wait, we have been talking for a while and now you are saying your English is poor. I don’t have any opinions about language since my native language is not English either, but this should not be an excuse in such kind of circumstance, especially considering we did talk for about 30 minutes.
The whole thing ended when her husband came back. Took the receipt and gave me the refund. He did not say anything until I asked why I should sign this and that. No apology. Only have poor quality of photos. Not professional at all.

This is the most reasonably priced framing store in Astoria. I had a couple large 28″ x 20″ frames that needed the matting cut. Oh! Photo cut the matting for $ 8 dollars and did an amazing job. Another framing store just down the block quoted me a price of $ 45 a frame. Friendly service and a great price, I’ll definitely go back.
