Fantastic middle eastern fish restaurant. Staff is very friendly and welcoming and the fish is extremely fresh(you can actually choose the fish they cook for you, which is awesome). If you love seafood and want to try an authentic middle eastern fish restaurant, you must try this place — highly recommended.

This is the best seafood restaurant ever. I’m serious. EVER. The shrimp is to die for, I’ve been here countless times and I have never been disappointed. The best dishes to get are shrimp a la sabry and the mussels in white sauce, but really you can’t go wrong with the anything on the menu. The service is always on point, the owner(Sabry) is usually there and is incredibly friendly and the staff is really attentive, on their feet, and very generous. You can tell this restaurant is legit and straight from Alexandria because man they know their seafood. Don’t miss this perfect heavenly experience.

Sabry’s is easily the best restaurant on Steinway if not the whole Astoria neighborhood. They specialize in seafood and Egyptians definitely know how to make their seafood full of flavor. I’ve been here countless times and it seems to get better each time. The ambiance is great. It’s very humble and well decorated and the staff are kind and attentive; they always make the best recommendations too. The piece that brings it together is the constant music playing in the background from Egypt-nothing beats hearing Om Kosloum while eating food. Plus the tank and fish display is a nice added touch. My go to dishes here are the tajin especially the calamari, the mussels in the white sauce, the grilled bronzeiny, and my favorite is the Shrimp A La Sabry. If you’re lucky you might even get a glimpse of Sabry!

The service was wonderful! Fabulous lobster and fried seafood combo! The bread is a bite of fluffy heaven. The salad is fresh and the tea with mint was a perfect finish. Also, make sure you order the mango drink. Amazing! Love this place and would come back.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Sabry’s tonight! The waiter was fast, attentive and made great suggestions on the menu. I had the lobster, which was perfectly cooked, had great flavor and was just amazing. My friend had the fried seafood platter, which was equally as delicious. The fresh bread was SO good. The waiter recommended the fresh mango beverage and it was heaven!!! Everyone who works here is so nice and they make you feel like family. Thank you Sabry’s for a fabulous dining experience! I will certainly be back.

Sabry’s is ahhhmazingggg!!! Our family has been coming here for years. Every time we are in NY our trip isn’t complete without lunch or dinner! It’s 10 out of 10 in food, service, hospitality overall excellent!!! We highly recommend this place. Asser always gives us excellent service. We are always given the best Egyptian hospitality. Last but not least he makes excellent recommendations to each persons liking!

Been hearing about Sabry’s for a while but never considered dropping in. Well, I did and the years I spent eating seafood at other places were all wasted because this place is legit Egyptian seafood. Growing up in Egypt, getting so so used to the perfected Egyptian mixture and grilled fish made it harder for me to really enjoy what other seafood places put on my plate. If you want the Mediterranean authenticity mixes, then this is the restaurant to eat at. Never been happier or more satisfied!

My friends and I have been coming to Sabry’s for the last 2 years. Consistently excellent food and service. Today we had the eggplant appetizer(which we order every time, can’t get enough of it), tried the grilled striped bass for the first time(fantastic) and a couple of lemonades. Amazing food and great prices. Can’t wait to go back.

Outstanding seafood and very attentive friendly service. Right after being seated, we were brought delicious fresh baked bread with homemade tahini and a tomato cucumber salad. We ordered grilled octopus for an appetizer, which was perfect in its simplicity. Also ordered a whole bronzini grilled and a whole baked striped bass over vegetables. The fish is layed out over ice for you to see when you come in. Both of the whole fish were huge and were cooked just right and tasted very fresh. We ended up having enough food for four people even though it was just two of us. With tax and tip it was about $ 90, which could be reduced considerably by ordering a more reasonable amount of food.

This restaurant has perfectly prepared seafood(especially grilled) and very hospitable service. We were 6 people and ordered striped bass, babaghanoush, bronzini, and lemonades. Everything was great — the salt rub on the fish tasted great and the fish itself was of the highest quality! Very authentic, and prices are reasonable considering the great experience. Not very fancy but if you’re in the mood for the best authentic food, come here.

Was not at all happy with this place. Water was not provided Napkins were not provided The food was overly salty. The salmon was good but the squid was soaked in a super salt mix The bread was not too warm. I saw the waiter handle the bread with his bare hands. The Fresh mango juice was not fresh.(fresh out of bottle maybe :) but it had sugar added The brown rice and the salmon were the highlights the service and the rest were horrible.

I don’t know where to start! The service, the place or the food! Food quality and taste were phenomenal! We had flounder lightly fried in butter(delicious), grilled arous and seafood tajine. All were very delicious, but I recommend the flounder. Sabry is extremely friendly and a wonderful host. Waiters were so friendly and fast. Will definitely go there again!

This has become my favorite seafood restaurant in all of queens. It’s got a middle eastern twist. The fish and shell fish are awesome. I like the small cozy atmosphere. Although the music in the background can get a little annoying. I’m not sure if it’s Egyptian or Moroccan music. By the way, don’t bother asking for the Arabic cofffee. They don’t have it. They never do. Anyway, the Taojine is a must.

I absolutely love this place. The fish is so flavorful and just oh-so-delicious. I was here on a Sunday night and their main clientele seemed to be big groups of friends and/families of Middle Eastern descent– so you know it’s legit. The free pita was on point but some complimentary baba ghanoush would be been awesome. Hey, that can be a Unilocal check-in deal!

The best seafood in NYC is actually in Queens. You would never know it just walking down Steinway but this place has the best seafood and sides in the US. Fresh, whole fish, perfectly prepared. The best piping hot bread and delicious Hummos I’ve had as well. Highly recommended. Very nice staff. Owner actively involved making sure everything is perfect.

Although from the area, this is the first time I came for dinner with friends. Initially I was worried that I would not be able to enjoy a full dinner since I am a vegetarian but the few items from the menu I was able to order were so delicious and perfectly prepared, presented, and cooked I enjoyed my dinner just as much as my friends. They order several different fish. From appetizers to the plate full of different types of fish the colors and smells filling the air I was almost tempted to taste. The pita bread served was so scrumptious that in itself could be a meal in itself. From the time we enter to the time we left, we were treated as if we were regulars. I will return for sure.

We came to Sabry’s for my dad’s birthday and we were not disappointed! The seafood was delicious and fresh, and the staff was friendly. They let you pick your own fish from the fishy tank. The BBQ style seafood is the Egyptian way of eating, but don’t get it this way if you like eating the skin on fish. I highly recommend the grilled octopus, the tagine and everything else on the menu. Even the free pita bread was great! Sabry’s is good for groups and there’s also outdoor seating. Can’t wait to go back!

Well, how familiar are you with the Middle Eastern part of Astoria? Not really? Well, you should go at least once — It’s on Steinway between Ditmars and 30th, and is centered around the Intersection of Astoria Blvd and Steinway(so the M60SBS goes there on the way to LaGuardia Airport. No excuses, Manhattanites). It’s a bit of a nighttime destination since the entire drag is dotted with hookah bars, late night kebab joints, and groceries dotted with interesting stuff that is open rather late.(Most places in the area closes at 11p or past that). You got Egyptian joints like El Rawsheh(not bad), Little Morocco(28th and Steinway and mostly a takeout joint with decent merguez), El Sham(best Kunafe on the East coast, and I am serious about that), Tanjawi(the Moroccan butcher/grocer selling some of the best Mint Green Teas in existence, AKA Sultan teas from Morocco), The Egyptian Coffeeshop(it usually has a poster of Gamal El-Nasser on the window and a kebab cart right outside), Layali Dubai(expensive and full of ostentatious crap, much like the real Dubai), and you have Sabry’s(or as I call it, Uncle Sabry’s). So okay, what can you expect out of Sabry’s? Well, you are in Astoria, so you should be familiar with the way how the Greeks and the Aegean Turks do their seafood. If not, the answer is — fresh, minimal prep, some olive oil drizzled on top, grilled with sea salt, squeeze some lemon, or stewed in a fairly decent sauce with tomatoes and fennel, so this is what you will get. The usual iced display of fish and shellfish, the prep is simple, but with the Egyptian/Levant flair of fenugreek and cumin. All meals start with a salad(basically fattoush with sumac and some pita bits mixed in), and pita bread. Get some hummus or baba to go with it. Get yourself a cocktail(multi-layer non-alcoholic fruit shake). It’s BYOB, but considering that it’s an Arab joint it might be in poor taste to pop a Chardonnay here. The décor is reminiscent of the fish restaurants that I visited while in Istanbul. So what to order? The seafood combos are usually a good idea… you usually get enough to feed the number of people that you order for, plus a bit more. If you eat like a yuppie a platter of 2 is usually good for 3, and etc. The seafood is typically stewed in a cuminy sauce, delicately flavored, and they give you some rice to go with it. Ask for the olive oil and pitch in some sea salt, have it with the sauce from the combo. and you’ll be set. You might need to add some salt to it to bring the flavors out. Doggy bagging it is fine and should be okay in the microwave the next day. The food is not exactly James Beard award terrific, but par for the neighborhood, which is quite good indeed. Price is a little high, I think I dropped 80 for this meal(including tips), but when it comes to seafood, you get what you pay for. Going cheap and getting Listeria later is not something that you want. Either ways, decent joint. A little pricey to be a community service joint, but solid for more-splurgey dining.

Pros: FOOD was good. Very fresh lobster & squid. Fresh bread. Hummus couldve been better Cons: So we walked in with a restaurant basically empty. The only couple in the restaurant was wrapping up their dinner which was a red flag frm the start. Right next door(another restaurant) was jam packed but I wanted seafood so we went. The waiter suggested a Seafood Combo where he pointed at $ 34 so I said OK. When the bill came out it said $ 75. I was like WTF??? No wonder it was so empty in there. There prices are OVERTHETOP. I know business is slow but dont trick customers on the prices. Also the place needs better ambiance/renovations. I mean tables with swimming fish designs??? Smh Sabrys lowered its prices it would be a hit

It’s a little gem hidden in a rather difficult to reach(or I must say ‘park’) area. Parking is a nightmare but once you manage to reach it, food is crazy good. Very authentic signature seafood. Simple, fresh and tasty! Calamari is really good. Whole fried Sea bass and Red snapper are very good. Mixed Tagine is a must-have. Overall, a great food experience. The restaurant itself is quite small and very basic. Just few tables and chairs.

I tried this place for the first time, and I must say. the freshest seafood ever!!! The fried calamari had a burst of flavor to die for The lobster dinner for 2 was amazing! Fresh out of the tank and loaded with all kinds of seafood, clams, shrimps, octopus, scallops and the juiciest tilapia. The service was wonderful and everyone was friendly. Not only did they prepare an awesome meal, they treated us like family. The food was very reasonably priced and the portions are tremendous! I will be dining there again. If your a seafood lover this is definitely the way to go

I would give Sabry’s a solid 3.5 stars Came here with my wife and got the seafood combo for 2. The combo included two 1 lbs lobsters, 2 large clams, calamari, shrimp and a large fillet of tilapia. The dish comes with salad and rice or french fries for each person. The sauce was well flavored with butter and lots of other spices but the only tilapia got most of it. The lobster was a bit overcooked so it was slightly rubbery but still pretty decent. The shrimp and calamari were quite tasty but I didn’t love the clams. I’m a bit of clam nazi. It needs to be perfect for me to like it. The tilapia on the other hand, was cooked perfectly and since it was pretty much drowning in the sauce, the flavor was quite good. The combination of the tilapia and rice was the best thing I had there. They best way to eat all the other seafood on the plate was to dunk it in the sauce that lay at the bottom. We were stuffed by the end of the meal. We did order a baba ganoush app which was pretty good. It came with two large pita breads. Unfortunately mine was over baked and not as soft I would have liked. Not that it prevented me from wiping all the plate clean. I would definitely recommend Sabry’s to any sea food lover. I think our 3.5 star experience would have been a 4 star experience had the lobster been cooked better. Still, the service was attentive and it was well worth the $ 45 we paid for the dish.

I’ve been here a couple of times and the service hasn’t been consistent. The place gets it’s praise for the seafood which I think is just ok. I’ve enjoyed more of the apps than I have the fish. My favorites are the eggplant and tahini. The freshly baked bread is absolutely DELISH. I’ve also had the grilled octopus which is tender and we’ll seasoned. The rice is made In a traditional way where it’s cooked in fish oil but it’s too oily. I do appreciate that the owner is always there to oversee the place. I would give it 3.5 if I could

Being a middle easterner myself I am super critical when dining at a restaurant that claims itself to be middle eastern. Sabrys did not disappoint at all. The overall ambience of the place was somewhat reminiscent of the old café’s on the streets of Cairo. As soon as i was seated i received warm pita and some tahini. Both were delicious. Then I started off with a seafood soup(picture) which caught me completely off guard. My bowl was filled to the brim with a variety of seafood. It was delicious and very filling. I ordered red snapper which was very nicely portioned, with a side of brown rice Five stars, I’d definitely recommend
