Very surly sour young woman on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. The sour attitude of the woman behind the counter was almost comical — she rolled her eyes, sighed heavily and thrust our food into our faces — then shuffled and dragged her feet back into the kitchen. We looked around for hidden cameras — she had to be joking. There are a few neighborhoods that go out of their way to let you know that you are not welcome — kind of like the movie ‘The Body Snatchers’ — they have a knack of knowing you are not one of ‘the pod people’ and react accordingly to alert their fellow pods that you are«from away»…well this was one of THOSE few. Felt sorry for the young man working on the sandwich line having to deal with her. He was embarrassed and overworked but good natured. He was the type of guy anyone would be lucky to have working for them. We asked him if there was only one owner for both shops in the shared space — because the atmosphere was strikingly different from one side of the shop to the next I can’t believe the owner would have someone who obviously has contempt for customers and making life difficult for her co-workers working his counter unless of course she is the owners daughter. There are other Carvel ice cream with Subway combos nearby — May I suggest you frequent their location else where. Wish there was a way to leave feedback ratings — one for the business and the other for the customer service. The business was clean and cheerful — newer in design. The sandwich guy was great though we did not order sandwiches — he was the bright spot and shining star of the establishment. After we ordered our ice cream and paid for it we noticed a sign that said buy one get one free Sundae’s on Wednesday. She failed to bring this to our attention nor did we bring it up with her. We took our Sundaes and went out into the 90 something degree afternoon rather than remain under her glowering gaze.

This is the worst Carvel Ice Cream store ever. They leave out the chocolate crunchies from ice cream cakes, or sprinkle only a token amount that no one outside of a laboratory will notice. They don’t carry any single flavored Flying Saucers, only vanilla/chocolate swirl, so if you like EITHER vanilla OR chocolate, you’re SOL at this Carvel. And the management is rude and unfriendly. Simply put, the concept of «customer service» eludes them. It’s too bad, since they’re the only Carvel close to here.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to, much less seen, a Subway/Carvel combo. But nonetheless I was in the neighborhood after brunch with one of my guy friends and his son(and my godson). After a successful brunch we were craving ice cream and considering that his son is 2 years old I thought a sit down place would be better than a Mister Softee ice cream truck. Also who’s gonna give a toddler soft serve in the sweltering heat when it’s going to get all melted and blahhhh. Carvel saved the day by providing us with ice cream, seating and air conditioning. Prices here are reasonable — a junior ice cream is two full coops(and you can mix flavors if you like) and only $ 2.30. Where Carvel suffers here is by the lack of flavors. Seriously. Compared to Baskin Robbins, Haagen Dazs, Ben & Jerry’s or any of the other corporate ice cream chains — the selection here is rather meh. About 12 buckets of total and about an even split between fruit sorbet and classic ice cream flavors. Their ‘Cake Mix’ ice cream is pretty delicious though and while it’s no Coldstone«Birthday Cake Remix»(that stuff gives me residual ice cream-gasms) it was still pretty good without being too sweet. Service here was also very friendly as they let us sample flavors before deciding and were super willing to let me get a scoop of Cake Mic AND Cookies n’ cream as part of my order. Also, kudos to the team here for cleanliness — I mean the ice cream section seriously looked spotless… can’t really speak for the Subways section because I never even looked at that side, lol.

my friend was looking for mango ice cream but the major ice cream store in this area was closed on sunday.(?!?) anyway, en route, i see(cue angelic choirs) carvel which i love. i am oh-so-obsessed with their ice cream cakes, the damn crunch gets me every time. my friend graciously bows to my excited carvel yips and we’re pleasantly surprised to see(drumroll please) mango ice cream! what? well, it did not taste like mango. nor does the banana taste like banana.(laffy taffy comes to mind.) but the service was great! and they have this swirlied vanilla-chocolate with the CAKECRUNCH ice cream! it would be amazing if it were crunchier but i guess sitting open in the freezer, bound to get a teeny bit stale. it still made my day :) right off the train station! convenient!

Growing up in NY, I have a special place in my heart for Carvel. I just think the ice cream is so delicious and the perfect texture. Now that I live close to this Carvel, I have been in a few too many times for soft serve. It is too good to stay away. Also, if you order a medium cone be prepared for it to be piled sky high with ice cream. It’s a little outrageous and you better be ready to eat it quick or you will be a sticky mess. I speak from experience!

Clean place buttheir ice cream is definitely not as good as baskin robbins. So then, why do they charge so much?

i’m a new yorker, so no i don’t eat at subway nor do i think when you live in this fabulous city should you be eating subway. BUT i do frequent this place for the CARVEL! i love carvel, my parents love carvel, my entire family loves carvel and i grew up having a carvel ice cream cake for my birthday each year and the tradition continues! Carvel is my favorite chain ice cream place with the thick custard-style ice cream and the best rainbow sprinkles :)
