As a resident of the nearby area, this place looks awful, the noise complaints are disgusting and they don’t care. They really should try to be a little bit More understanding or better equip themselves so as not to bother the surrounding area til 4 am.

What a terrible place to take your friends. I called and make reservations for brunch. When we got there the place was closed!!! They didn’t inform me of that and made the reservation anyways… We had to waste hours walking around to find another spot… They inconvenienced me and my group even tho they knew they werent open the day I made the reservation… Don’t trust them make sure if u go that it’s a day they will be open. Also I heard the crowd is a little lower class. Since the Namw change. Of anyone notice that please let me know cause if it is lower class I’m prob not even gonna try to go there again

I have mixed reviews. We came for brunch. The views are nice. The staff was very outgoing. we ordered a prefix meal $ 35& unlimited sangria and mimosas. The lounge now has house music from what I was told. Soo I had to keep going to the bar to. ask for a drink. The food came out late and it wasn’t busy. There were people dressed like they were at the beach. It was uncomfortable. I’ve been to sunset lounge before and it was a better crowd. I guess when one comes to Astoria, we expect more. Because of the changes, it brought in a different crowd/element. Sunset Lounge is a very nice looking place. I understand that the owners want to make money, please think of your customers. Let’s maintain standards.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. They are an utter nightmare for the residents living on 38th Street and 41st Street. The music is WAY too loud – they’ve received hundreds of noise complaints and they do nothing. Want a nice view of the Rite Aid pharmacy and some overpriced cocktails? Come here.

I live in the neighborhood, and I liked this place when it first opened. It has a nice ambiance, and nice views of the city. But they have shown no respect for the neighborhood, playing music WAY too loud despite many many requests from locals to turn it down a little. When people say they can hear it a block away, that’s too loud. I’m sorry they aren’t willing to work with their neighbors to find a solution.

Wow! I’m never going back! You shouldn’t either! I’ll start by saying that I’ve enjoyed coming to this place since it first opened for the beautiful views, the after-work drinks and the food was okay as well. I’ve been traveling for the last six months, so when I had the opportunity to take my friend to view the beautiful city, I couldn’t wait to return. I returned last Saturday and was rudely welcomed by three different security guards at the door who proceeded to remove ink pens from my purse, pat me down and treat me like I was a criminal. The experience just got worse as I went upstairs and the outside with the views were closed both main floor and upstairs. My friend and I decided to just get one drink, since we were already here, and just leave. We weren’t surprised that the coke was flat. The DJ would play one song and leave the post so there were long interruptions in music with awkward silence. The crowd was… different. And many of the walls in glass which could have shown the view from the main floor were covered in a black curtain. Also, there were 5 or 6 security guards inside on the main floor(it’s a small area) and only 20 people there. Do we really need that much security since you even took away my ink pens from work before I even got here? They just stared at us awkwardly durning our painfully long 10 minute stay. Wow! I don’t know what changed, why they treat customers like criminals or why they even bother advertising the place as rooftop if you can’t even go outside(barely look outside). Good luck with your new clientele. I will certainly not be returning ever again.

I came here with a few girl friends of mine around 11:00 last Friday night, figured I would try a new place in Astoria. Never expected to have an issue getting in with 1 guy and 3 girls although that was the case. We were one of the first people to get there and they tried to charge me $ 20 to get in and a mandatory coat check for $ 3 up front. After some words with the front desk I settled for $ 10 and checked my coat for free, after all there was no one even there at that time. The ambiance was weird, the layout is pretty terrible as well. It looked like they threw this place together the week before and opened it as a new club/lounge using the«roof top» as the selling point, This particular night the roof top access wasn’t even open making it even smaller of a space. I ordered a Bud Light bottle only to find out«we have Coors Light or Corona, that’s it» Really??? So after paying $ 7 for a beer I don’t even like we moved on. Took one look at the small Hookah and $ 30 price tag and decided against that. Maybe I come off cheap, but I just dont expect to pay Manhattan prices in a place like this. Honestly, the only thing positive about this place is the DJ, Blackout I believe was his name. Guy was really nice in the booth and kept the party going.

Came here for a birthday get together and we had a great evening. The place itself is beautiful, but the view isn’t the same type you would obviously get further towards LIC. but its a nice addition being the central Astoria area didn’t have any rooftops prior. We arrived a little short of 10PM and the place only had a few people. It filled up about an hour or so after. The music was a nice mix of spanish, top 40, pop and that type of thing. The drinks were pricey for Astoria, but not as bad as they get in the rooftops in LIC and nothing in comparison to Manhattan. It was overall a nice experience and I will be back.

I heard about this bar from several friends and decided to try it out. It’s in the middle of Steinway, so parking is limited. You take the elevator to the restaurant and when you step out you realize that it is quite small. Didn’t really enjoy the food but it might be better just to catch some drinks after work.

When I came here, for some reason, the part of the rooftop which had the best view of the city was closed off. Maybe they do this very late at night? Not sure. but we basically had a view of Steinway street. Regardless, the weather was nice and it was a good time. They were playing pop/r&b songs from a few years back which was kind of annoying, but things started picking up when the DJ starting playing Spanish music. The hookah was a joke; really tiny, overpriced hookah that barely lasted a few minutes. My friends said that the drinks were good and reasonably priced. But honestly, the fact that we didn’t have to pay a cover and there was no drink minimum on a Saturday night was amazing. and for a rooftop, unbelievable. And for that reason, I’d go back. It’s a good time if you’re looking for something to do post-dinner.

I came here because I got a groupon. The group was for three tapas and a pitcher of sangria for $ 35. The venue of the restaurant is very nice. They have great outdoor seating with a nice view of Astoria. Without the Groupon I don’t know if I would come here again. The prices are pretty expensive and the sangria was not that strong. The view was amazing however the seats were a little bit dirty outside as if someone had recently jumped on all the couches with dirty shoes on. Bus service was awesome however. There weren’t that many people in the restaurant, so that may have had something to do with it. We were constantly asked if we needed anything which was nice. It seemed as if this place was under construction, which if so, I would consider coming back here after it was complete.

So after being rather«meh-humbug» about my birthday this week, I decided to at the last minute last Friday to round up some of my closest friends to join me for birthday hangs in Astoria. Things I was looking for? Not to pricey, kind of intimate, not filled with douche-canoes, fun lame-o top 40 music so I can dance around like an extra in a Fatboy Slim music video and food for those that would be hungry… which would have ended up being me as well since my boyfriend and I ended up napping on his sofa through what was supposed to be our coupley birthday dinner beforehand. Sunset Lounge has all this and more… I mean, HELLOOOOOOOOROOFTOPS! …and empanadas. Service was also pretty slow. My party upon entering was about 4(which later became 9 and when person #10 was treated like he had ebola and when we left it grew so Sunset Lounge missed out on some money and I missed out on nothing since I still got to get my eats, drinks and dancing on) and it took a solid 15 minutes to get a menu, followed by another 10 minutes to finally order something. Their beer selection is whack(do people still use that term? I feel as if the clientele here would, so it stays) and when I tried to get a Dos Equis(there are zero craft beers on this list and this was easily the best beer on their list, I assure you) they were«out» so I settled for a Blue Moon instead. Their cocktail menu was also shortened for the night and I was given an updated menu with the cocktails that they weren’t «out» of… mmmkay…I kind of found it odd that my $ 13 bourbon cocktail was served to me in a small plastic cup when other folks on the sofas beside me had highball glasses… and it’s not an issue of having glasses on a rooftop because my Blue Moon was served in a traditional pint glass. Sigh. Despite the service being slow, I was forgiving since I noticed that there were only 1 or 2 servers(at most) working, I kind of enjoyed my first 40 minutes here since my beer was cold and the music was fun — then all of a sudden their superiority complex kicked in and all of a sudden the dress code changed so they could cater to «a better clientele» — yeah okay. I’ll take myself to a much better neighborhood spot. It’s Astoria, we’re not exactly wine bar/dance place-less. It’s a real shame that they would rather make someone feel like second-class citizen and act like they’re doing them a favor by letting them in anyway. A better way to deal with a situation in which 1 person out of a group of 9 – 10 isn’t «up to par» to «rooftop standards» is to give a light warning and say you’ll make an exception this once, but make sure the rules are iterated. Their signage which stresses no boots, hats, etc says absolutely nothing about«no backpacks». It’s a Friday night, people come from work and it was like 8pm, not 11pm — oy. Considering I(practically) live up the block from here on weekends, it’s disappointing how this place operates, especially when I made reservations and made it clear that it was a birthday gathering. I won’t be recommending this place, nor will I willingly return here, unless someone I know plans something here and better trust that I’ll make suggestions for better places nearby.

It’s everything you’ve ever dreamed of wanting for a club/lounge in Astoria: An awesome view of Queens and Flushing in the distance! Yes, there’s a view. But it’s utter shit. The outdoor area is very small and the 7th floor roof just happened to be closed on Friday night. There wasn’t a reason why. Drinks are pretty ridiculously expensive: Most beer and standard drinks or wine not even on their specialty cocktail menu will run you between $ 9 – 15. Oh, and your drink(gin and tonic) may come in a plastic cup while the people across from you are sipping from real glasses. CLASSY. Sunset is just to good for us I guess. Our friend was allowed upstairs. We had a small gathering for a birthday party. He was wearing a button down shirt, fitted jeans(not baggy), and gym sneakers. Sunset has a no policy on casual wear. But despite this, they let in numerous other people that were wearing shit. The staff went up to the poor guy and told him he needed to leave AFTER he had already been permitted to come upstairs. It was embarrassing, humiliating, and a complete disgrace. They even stated«we’re just trying to create a certain kind of presence and ambiance here and we have standards for appearance, etc». Again, sick. This isn’t meatpacking. This isn’t the Ritz. I don’t see this place lasting. Who wants a dick club in the middle of Astoria anyway? Bottom line, if you want a view of Flushing and to watch your friends get escorted out for not being fancy enough while upholding the irony that you are drinking gin out of a plastic cup, this is your spot.

I almost don’t want to review this place because I don’t want people to know that there’s a rooftop bar right on Steinway with out of this world cocktails and awesome views with no cover. I went for a friends early birthday celebration on a Wednesday night, and was immediately helped by Arturo, who is truly a master of his craft when it comes to making cocktails. There were even free shots of a new whiskey that tastes like fireball but better(I can hear you bros being like NOWAYDUDE, but it’s true) being passed around. We missed happy hour by a few minutes(goes till 8) but will definitely be back.

Stopped by on Friday night for a few drinks. It’s a bit hard to find, because it’s in a complex for other businesses that have closed for the night. Once you find the building, they have a sign that says you’re in the right place. Elevator up to the roof had me excited, but I was underwhelmed and a bit disappointed at the size of this place. It was very small. But I do like the casual dress code and the outdoor access to the roof. I had planned to get a hookah, but it did not look good. Beer selection was limited, drink prices were average. Apparently, after 11pm, you need to get bottle service or you can’t lounge up on the roof. And since I wasn’t looking to get hammered, I didn’t stick around too long. If the hookah is any good, I wouldn’t mind coming back for bottle service.

I came here on a Wednesday to celebrate one of my friends birthdays. Soon as I walked in I was taken outside to the seats. Very cool spot to chill and just hang out, grab some drinks and whatnot. The food here is alright, standard lounge type food. The seller here is the outside view. Since the spot is on the 6th floor you get an amazing view of the city(see photos). Overall I’d recommend this spot if you’re coming to hang with some friends and want to grab some drinks.

I’m giving this place three stars primarily because no one else has found out about it and you can actually sit and relax with your friends without having to do the typical New York City game of hovering over people who got there first and waiting for them to leave. Upstairs décor is typical rooftop wicker sofas in a pleasing layout made for large and small groups. I’ve been to a million rooftops throughout the city and while they’re all gorgeous and closer to the iconic skyscrapers, you’re spending a lot of your time getting jostled by the billion other people who’ve heard about it too. Enjoy it while it lasts people. Negs: Truffle oil popcorn was stale old popcorn with a hint of truffle oil. Avoid! A star off for the exposed ladder and hose upstairs. c’mon guys! Also there was an issue with the draft beer but this may just be typical new business hiccups. Eventually they’ll get rollin and I won’t be able to find a seat.

The views are nice here as its a rooftop lounge and staff are really nice. The food selection is very limited with sushi and some apps. The Sangria and drinks are very weak and sugary. It’s a good place to go and soak in some sun, listen to good music on Sundays! Hopefully they will strengthen their drink list.

Came back on a Saturday night and it was much better. Just opted with a vodka soda instead of a specialty cocktail. The owners are super, super nice. Very friendly and outgoing. You will see them there a lot talking to guests. There is also a male server there who I loveee, but I don’t know his name. He is pretty awesome. The DJ was playing good music and they had a pretty good crowd going that night.

I stopped in 2 weeks ago for a quick drink. Located in Astoria on Steinway st, it is only a few steps away from the subway. Very convenient to get to if using public transportation. Parking can be annoying since there are no parking lots in the area, just street parking. It was a rainy night so I was not able to enjoy the whole experience of relaxing outside. This is a rooftop lounge w a beautiful view & seating that wraps around. There is also another level with an open space and some nice seating.(I took a quick tour in the rain) The The DJ was great and had the crowd jumping around. The drinks were pretty good as well but had to wait a bit to grab someone’s attention. They have brunch from 2 – 5PM on Sundays so I will be checking that out real soon.
